General Features

Color Type
This will denote whether the displayed image is color or black & white.
Color
Night Vision
Some cameras are equipped with additional lighting for improved performance in low light conditions. LED lights will drastically improve range visibility and maintain a color image. Infrared LED lights have an even further visible range but lack a color image; this is a true night vision feature.
No
Sensor Type
Currently, cameras will typically use a CMOS, CCD or CMD sensor type. A CMOS camera is your most common type due to its low cost and quality performance. CMOS cameras also use much less power than a CCD but are more susceptible to noise interference. A CCD camera is much more sensitive than a CMOS camera so the pictures are cleaner and less grainy and perform much better in low light situations. A CMD camera is right in between the two as it has a better image quality over CMOS cameras and a comparable picture quality to the CCD cameras without being quite as expensive.
CMOS
Video Output
This is how the video signal is outputted to the receiver. Most items use RCA composite cables, while other units use wireless transmitters or other video cables.
RCA Composite Cable
Mounting Type
This is the manner in which the unit is attached to the vehicle.
Top of License Plate Frame
Adjustable Tilt
This means that the item can be tilted and adjusted to achieve the perfect view for the user.
Yes
Weatherproof
Weatherproof items are protected from the elements. They usually are treated or coated with special materials that help protect them. Normally, weatherproof units are sealed to keep any water from getting inside.
Yes
Reverse Image
Mirror Image is feature which horizontally flips the camera's image before it is output to a display. This is necessary when the camera is being used as a backup camera so that the orientation of viewed image is the same as if the driver is looking in a rear view mirror. Cameras without this feature are to be used to view images in front of the driver.
Adjustable
Parking Guidelines
Parking guidelines is a feature which displays guidelines over the image from the camera to assist the driver with parking. The guidelines help to determine distance between the camera and an obstruction.
Yes
Built-in Microphone
Some cameras have built-in microphones in order to provide an audio feedback of the environment outside, or to record audio when using the camera for security purposes.
No
Primary Color
This is the main color of the item.
Black
Frame Material
This is the material that the license plate frame is made of.
Chrome
Camera Housing Material
This is the material that the housing of the camera is made out of.
Minimum Illuminance
Essentially the amount, or intensity of, the visible light required for a clear picture. A lower Lux rating designates a camera that will function better with less light.
.5 lx
Screen Size
This is the size of the monitor on the unit. It is measured diagonally and in inches. The bigger the number the larger the screen.

I installed this camera on rear of my pickup and am soo happy with it. No more checking the hitch to try get my truck nose further in parking spot. Very happy with this bargain. Will def buy again for front view camera in near future

Very Good!

This camera is way better quality than my last one. Excellent picture hooked up to a Magellan 1700 GPS. The grid lines are always a plus. The wide angle on this is much better than my last camera as well. Looks pretty good at night too. I would recommend this camera as it's also medal frame instead of plastic. Definitely worth the money!

I bought the Crimestopper SV 5150 and when I did a test connection the image appears reversed.
I noticed the cables have a pair of what appear to be jumper wires (one white one blue). Assuming that cutting these will reverse the image which one should I cut?

Thanks!
Reinaldo on Apr 30, 2016
Best Answer: I did not have that option on my camera. You came up as if I was looking in the rearview mirror. I would contact sonic electronics technical support. They have always been very informative for me. And in a couple of businesses where they could not answer the question they got me in touch with the manufacturer of the product Good luck

How is the mirror imaging controller? Does the unit have a jumper? or do you have to cut a wire?
Reinaldo on Mar 31, 2016
Best Answer: I'm not sure I understand the question. The camera comes set up to view as if you are looking in your rear view mirror.
It comes with a 4ft lead for video (RCA) and power connector. 12vdc.
You will need a rca to rca cable to go from the camera up to the head end unit. The rca cable plugs directly into the back of the unit. The positive power needs to go to reverse light power so it will come in automatically when you put the vehicle in reverse.
Hope this helps.

Can I install this camera on a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali and hook it up to factory stereo? How do you hook it up and to what? Thanks
John J on Jan 27, 2016
Best Answer: Hello,

Unfortunately you CANNOT integrate an aftermarket camera, like the SV-5150, into your OEM headunit without a Video Interface. Unfortunately, we no longer carry the two possible options for that vehicle, and fear that you may find that going the interface route will be more costly than simply getting into a new headunit that supports a direct connection to aftermarket cameras. Nevertheless, here are two links to our partners at PAC that used to product the interface we carried.

I wanted to thank everyone for replying to my question (?) on fixing the reverse image!
As some had suggested the setting was in the nav system itself. Undocumented in the version of the manual I had but there nonetheless!!

Thanks!
