General Features

Security System Type
This indicates whether the product is a security car alarm product, remote start module, or a combo unit that offers security with remote start features.

Security: This means that the car alarm system is just that. No bells and whistles, just a car alarm system.

Remote Start: when installed, this allows the user to start a vehicle from a remote location. Remote start modules and security with remote start alarms often require an additional vehicle specific bypass module to complete installation.

Security with Remote Start: This means that the system incorporates both features listed above.

Remote Start
Car Alarm
If "Yes", the system will have alarm security features to help prevent vehicle theft and tampering. Remote start modules without alarm features will have "No" for this value.
Remote Start
If the alarm or remote start module has "Yes" for this value then the system has an electronic device that allows you to start your vehicle by remote control without actually being inside the vehicle or using the key. The remote start system supplies the vehicle with power and simulates a start just as if you were inside using the key. Select vehicles require additional accessories or immobilizer/bypass modules to use the remote start feature.
Smartphone Compatibility
These are the types of smartphone systems that the car alarm system is compatible with.
iPhone, Android, & Blackberry
Professional Installation Recommended
This will indicate whether or not we recommend going to a professional installer for this item. Some items have complex installations that should only be done be professional certified installers.

Love It

June 19, 2015

I am very pleased. Easy installation after watching a couple of install videos. Did not need the OL Loader since Sonicelectronix flashed it for me before shipping after I provided them the information on my vehicle (2007 Chevy Silverado with 4.8L engine). So no hooking up to computer necessary--just install on vehicle, change optional defaults if desired (only change I made was for engine to run for 35 minutes before automatic shutoff and instructions provided are very clear on how to do this). I'm OK for now with the range of the factory remotes (about 100 feet with clear line of sight) but may order extended remote later. Bottom line is that this was an excellent purchase experience.

Omega OL-rs-GM-10 remote start

September 18, 2014

It was really easy to install on my 2007 Tahoe . It uses your factory remotes or you can use the extended range kits if you want. You will need the OL-loader USB cable to complete the installation. Pretty much plug and play. There is one wire you will have to connect if you want the parking lights to flash to show you that your car is running. The unit doesn't have any firmware installed so it will not work without the use of the OL-Loader USB cable. First you sign up on omega links website as a freelance installer , install the USB driver and connect the unit to your computer, select what type of car you have and it will install the firmware for the unit. Then install it in your car, after you turn the car ignition to the on position and the green light starts to flash, turn the ignition off , disconnect it and connect it to your computer again to save the key data on the unit then reinstall it back in your car. It took me about 15 minutes to install the unit. It will allow you to program it to remote start by pressing lock 3 times or lock, unlock, lock . I chose the later to prevent accidental remote start. I highly recommend it

I'd say get it and install.

January 27, 2015

Install was pretty straight forward. I had a Saturn so I had to chop one of the plugs off and solder the 2 wires. It was a little tough to figure out what wires to solder to, because my wires had changed colors over the years or the wiring diagram was wrong. The parking light wire said attach to the light blue wire and I had 2 light blue wires coming out of my switch. I hooked it to the first, but that didn't work yet hooking it to the second made it work! The hood pin was quite a pain and I think I might just not recommend it for others planning to do this. Overall, it is nice and I plan to pair it to an RF kit probably next fall. My range isn't that great right now, so I have to be within about 50 ft. to get it to work. Still much better than going to the car with the key firing it up and leaving the keys in there for someone to steal something from my car or my entire car for that matter. Recommend you get an RF kit with this!

Why did you choose this?
Sonic Electronix Store
Needed a starter for my 2009 Cadillac CTS sedan, and this seems like a great fit.

To add remote start to my 2012 tahoe, much cheaper than OEM kit and longer range with optional RF kit/remotes
Wade T on Feb 17, 2015
Sonic seemed like a company with a good support dept. Also liked option of ordering a compatible extended range remote later if I am unhappy with my factory remote. Also liked install video.
Chuck on Jun 10, 2015

I would like for my car to run for about 30 minutes before shutting off automatically after remote start. I notice some other kits let engine run only 15 minutes. How long does this one run before automatic shut off?
Chuck on Jun 9, 2015
Best Answer: You can easily program it to run once you buy it at these intervals: 3,5,10,15,25,30,35 minutes. If you are confused as to how to do that just come back here and ask a question about it. There is a program button on the device and you use that to program it by following the sequence in the installation manual. Overall have enjoyed this product, the only issue I found was I had to solder 3 wires and the color of the wire they told me to solder to didn't match what they said, but I think it is due to time and the color of the lead discoloring. A recommendation, buy a RF kit, because the range is much better and I plan to buy one this Fall to add on. Just makes it easier when firing up the car from a farther distance.

Will this work on a vehicle that does not have factory keyless entry?
Bird Dog on Jan 7, 2015
Best Answer: I would go to their website and at the bottom you can select your vehicle and year to see if it is covered. My guess is probably not, because it is setup to use the factory key FOB to start the vehicle, so you would definetly have to buy the RF kit if it allowed you.
