needed fuses
Thomas J on Nov 2, 2015
do these fuses take 4 gauge wire??? and are these fuses for car audio applications???
John M on Feb 21, 2015
Best Answer: Yes these are for car audio applications. But if you are running 4 gauge wire you shouldn't need a 150A fuse. You should only need 100A. The point of a fuse is so that if a surge comes through your system the fuse will "pop" cutting off all power to your amp to protect it. I ran my 1200w rms (24002 peak) system with a 100A fuse and using 4 gauge wire and never had any issues. I recently got a bigger amplifier running at 2400w rms (4800w peak) with this exact same fuse (150A) using 0 gauge wire. If your system only requires 4 gauge wire I suggest using a smaller amperage on the fuse you purchase such as a 100A fuse to compensate for the lower current. However if your system requires this 150A fuse I suggest making the upgrade to 0 gauge wire. You will also need a fuse holder to hold the fuse and to make the proper connections to your power wire. I have included all of the items that I just mentioned below. These are products that I have used in my system and brands that I trust. NOTICE that the amplifier kits that I have mentioned below come with the fuse hole and the proper size fuse! but if you do purchase one of these kits i suggest that you buy a pack of extra fuses (of the same size that comes with the kit) to have handy incase something does happen you can quickly replace it and keep bumping!
