Speaker Wire

Wire / Cable Type
Wires and cables are made for different uses. This use that the wire or cable is made for.

Please make sure that the wire you are purchasing matches the intended use.

Speaker Wire
Twisted Pair Wire
Twisted pair wire is used to reduce unwanted noise. Found in the higher end speaker wire and RCA cables, twisted pair wire increases the overall quality of the sound and can help cancel out extra noise.
This the how long the item is. When purchasing an item that requires a specific length (such as RCA interconnect cables or speaker wire), please make sure that the length of the item is long enough for your needs.
20 feet
Wire Gauge
The measurement of the diameter of wire. As the gauge number increases the size of the wire decreases. As the wire gauge number decreases, the diameter of the wire increases. For example, an 8 gauge wire is going to be larger than a 16 gauge wire.

When purchasing wire, make sure that you know what size, or gauge of wire is needed.

16 gauge
Primary Color
This is the main color of the item.
Secondary Color
A color that compliments the main color of the product.
Wire Material
The material that the wire is made of. Copper & aluminum are the most commonly used materials. OFC - Oxygen Free Copper is the ideal choice for wire material. Copper is a superior electrical conductor, & does not expand or contract with heat. CCA - Copper-Clad Aluminum is a suitable choice for lower powered or budget applications. The power transfer is not on par with OFC, but this material offers significant savings.
OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper)
Complies to AWG Standards
Since 1857, The AWG (American Wire Gauge) system has been the standard for measuring the diameter of wire. AWG standard is the measure of bare wire to find true gauge. Companies that do not follow AWG Standards include the thickness of the wire jacket which means the actual wire is not "True to Gauge".

Top notch

September 18, 2013

Seriously great stuff. It's enough wire to wire my two front door speakers and two front door tweeters back to my amp in the trunk.

is the blue wire positive and the gray wire negative?
Jason L on Jun 5, 2015
Best Answer: Hello Jason,

Technically, that is completely up to you, because it doesn't matter. The blue side doesn't have magical characteristics to it that make it better for positive or negative, same for the gray side =] . Jokes aside, the color difference is simply there for ease of installation, nothing more nothing less. Generally speaking, gray/black/white are often associated with ground/negative so you may as well just stick with that.
