Complies to AWG Standards
Since 1857, The AWG (American Wire Gauge) system has been the standard for measuring the diameter of wire. AWG standard is the measure of bare wire to find true gauge. Companies that do not follow AWG Standards include the thickness of the wire jacket which means the actual wire is not "True to Gauge".
Wire Material
The material that the wire is made of. Copper & aluminum are the most commonly used materials. OFC - Oxygen Free Copper is the ideal choice for wire material. Copper is a superior electrical conductor, & does not expand or contract with heat. CCA - Copper-Clad Aluminum is a suitable choice for lower powered or budget applications. The power transfer is not on par with OFC, but this material offers significant savings.

Great Wire

February 18, 2015

Ture to size and very easy to use because of how flexible it is. I just so happened to have another brand of 8 gauge wire on hand from another project and this is true 8 gauge. The other brand (Streetwires) had more shielding than wire. My only problem was at the time when I ordered it Sonic would only let me buy 6ft of it. Luckily it was enough for me to do the job. Right before I posted this you are now able to buy a greater amount of length. I would recommend it to a friend.

Awesome Wire

June 3, 2014

This is great wire. Obviously it can be expensive, but it depends on how much you are buying if it is a good value or not. You can't get much better wire than this though. Kicker is well known for making quality wire.

Best wire along with Stinger wire. Only two brands I trust. True to spec gauge wires. Real 100% copper, not that CCA junk. I'm using this 8g wire as speaker wire for my high-powered subs and use 4g Stinger kit for my amp install. Hooked up using 8g Stinger banana connectors. Pro-tip: Don't rob your subs by using low-gauge wire

what is the voltage rating and ampacity?
A shopper on Jan 8, 2015
Best Answer: It depends on the length and what kind of loads you're putting on these wires. Go to the12volt dot com site for full discussion. Their moderators are top-notch!

BTW - I used NVX's XAPK1D dual amp wiring kit (1/0) for my two Hifonics amps: 1000RMS (4x250RMS) Zeus and 400RMS (4x100RMS) Brutus X-14 Series. I used 14GA for all my speaker locations versus the OEM tiny wire (18GA?) for my 2001 Toyota Avalon XLS with its 7-speaker configuration. I used a Power Acoustik PCX-3F 3-Farad capacitor to protect the big Zeus amp. It is running at 12.5V constant. Good luck with your project!
