PreSonus Eris E5

When mixing music you want studio monitors that will accurately reveal the truth about what you're listening to, and the Eris series from PreSonus are designed to do just that. With its 5" Kevlar low-frequency transducer, the compact Eris E5 sports a 45W, Class AB amplifier; and a 1-inch (25 mm), silk-dome tweeter powered by a 35W, Class AB amplifier. It can crank out a clean 102 dB SPL, peak. Frequency response is rated at 53 Hz to 22 kHz. For a studio monitor in its size and price class, that’s impressive. Thanks to well-designed Kevlar® low frequency transducers, low-mass silk-dome tweeters, responsive Class AB amplification, and professional acoustic-adjustment controls, Eris delivers the goods.

Both Eris models provide balanced XLR, balanced 1/4" TRS, and unbalanced RCA line-level inputs. When both balanced connections are in use, the TRS input will supersede the XLR input. The RCA input is summed into the signal path. With this selection, you’ll have no problem hooking your Eris speakers up with virtually any line-level source.

  • 1-inch (25 mm), ultra-low-mass, silk-dome, high-frequency transducer

Monitor Type
Studio monitors can be passive or active. Passive monitors require an outside amplification of the audio signal. Active monitors have a built-in amplifier to provide proper output to the speakers.
Near-Field Active
Peak Power
This is the maximum power rating of the studio monitors. For passive monitors, this is the maximum amount of wattage that the drivers are rated at. For active monitors, this is the maximum amount of wattage that the built-in amplifier sends to each driver.
70 watts
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
53 - 22000 Hz
Maximum Sound Pressure Level (SPL)
This is the maximum Sound Pressure Level (SPL) of the studio monitor. The higher the SPL rating, the louder the monitors are able to go.
