I have used them all, searching again and again through the years for the best head to utilize for my customer builds. I purchased this head unit 6 years ago and it was sadly stolen from my vehicle a year into the purchase. Luckily, it was time for a replacement. Six months ago I went on the hunt for a new one of these units and luckily Sonic Electronix has one. I searched high and low for eight months trying to get the best price NIB and only a very select handful of shops had these still. I saw the opportunity and snatched one of the last few up from these guys. As lame as it sounds, I have never felt so saddened in my life knowing that a product line was killed. Pioneer truly designed an amazing unit which has brought me many many years of happiness in my rides. This unit alone has accounted for my entire love of car audio. Full color display, programmable for full audio control, blue-tooth remote control of the stereo... Amazing.
This was Epic. This was the best of the best. And sadly, it is no more. If you can find one used, check out the ribbon cable on the motorized front. If not cracked at all (Eventually they give out after a good six years) buy the unit. (The ribbon cable is easy to replace.)
Good luck fellow shoppers, just know this item was legendary and will forever be remembered as the one bada** unit that could do it all.

I love this unit, my only concern is that it has a lot of full-connect failures when trying to connect to my BlackBerry Storm. I am supposing that it's RIM's(Blackberrys) fault and not Pioneer, because the Operating System is extremely buggie, and every time I make a call from the deck, it works perfect, but if I make the call from the phone, it fails like 50% of the time.
BlueTooth Audio also drops a lot, probably related to the same thing.

This product was purchased as a gift for someone overseas, but after 6 months, I have not heard any complaints from the recipient. This product was referred to me by a pre existing customer and backed by the trusted Pioneer name.

Ok, this is on seriously cool headunit. I love everything about it. It has customizing options to suit even the most demanding enthusiast. The sound is quite simply unbelievable. I replaced a Alpine 9830, and it sounded so dull and lifeless even before I got this unit. After installing the P980BT I saw just how dull the sound really was.
Pioneer has always made good products and the tuner section in all Pioneer units is second to none, but this unit really blows all the others out of the water.
5 volt preamp outs, all the sound eq you could imagine, nice graphics and a really classy look, all add up to be the best receiver I have ever owned.
If you are looking for a truly highend receiver look no further.
It is a bit tricky to navigate but give yourself a day or two and you will know it inside and out
