Why You Need This:

  • So that remote start system you just bought actually works!
  • To bypass that handy chip in your car key that doesn't let people steal your car
    • Great when you don't want people to steal your car, not great when using a remote start system
    • Your car needs to "see" the chip in the ignition before starting - Prevents people from hotwiring your car
    • No chip = No start
    • When you're using remote start, your key isn't going to be in the ignition
  • This little guy fixes all that so your remote start will work!

The DBALL2 override works exactlly as mentioned.
The only thing this unit should have is some kind of wiring harness to account for the wires not being used for every installation. Removing the wires would be OK if you never want to take the unit out and use for your next car.

The Dball2 worked perfectly with my truck. The directions made installing a breeze. The price was very reasonable. The team at Sonic answered all my questions concerning the Dball2. Love buying from Sonic Electonix.

Great Product

April 9, 2015

Just like anything. Once installed correctly the product will work properly. Installed it on a 2014 Sonata using a Clifford remote start and a DBALL2 for convenience and works perfectly. Saved me some time by not having to hookup the tachometer signal wire, door locks, alarm or even trunk since it does it all through the data wires. Could it have been done without the bypass? Sure. But the convenience and the price simply make it worth it.

Need this unit for a quick and easy remote start install. Real easy to install and easy to get install info/tips on their site. Small and compact - easy to use. It's a huge time saver to do this D2D vs W2W install. Cheap unit price too.

Everything worked as advertised. While the install in a whole was not what I would call easy, the DBALL2 did simplify quite a bit. Would recommend for sure.

Want door lock control? It's got that. Want door triggers, hood, and trunk? Want Key Bypass? It's got that. Want convenience features? It's got that too. It's the least expensive, functional, and reliable interface for ANY RS or AL system on the market.

Works good but compare features per the car you own

February 22, 2016

Countless installs done and I've used this many times mainly cause customer bought viper remote start / alarm. It's cheaper than other alternatives. But case in point 2013 Camry I have to wire door locks directly with idatalink or fortin I don't they do them via data. Also on same car you have to interrupt the auto light feature. Again idatalink does that automatically. Certain cars can't be beat for the price (about $15 cheaper) but anyway.

Does the D-ball2 work with the viper 9756v?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2015
Best Answer: I would think so. I put mine on a Python 2 way alarm with remote start. Which python and viper are made by the same company(directed electronics).typically the xpress kits are more for vehicle integration to allow the remote start to work and tie in the door locks trunk pop and things like that.the dball2 is more vehicle specific than alarm specific. So everything should work fine you can also try to call directed electronics tech support. I hope this helps

Will dBall 2 handle vehicles with positive door locks? I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT ext. cab and I want to know if I need Directed 451M module.
Thanks
A shopper on Jan 16, 2015
Best Answer: You could user either. If you want to save time the module will handle it. The DBALL2 should handle via data. If you have questions you should check xpresskit(dot)com for functions and installation guides.

This unit needs to have a program flash with the XKloader2 you sell. Does it come pre-flashed for my
vehicle. Or how do I get the downloads?

XpressKit XKLOADER2
Best Answer: No. It does not come pre-flashed. You will have to purchase the XKloader2, then go to the XpressKit website, search for make, model, and year of your vehicle. There will be many options listed, look for the DBALL2 option and click on it. Then there will be an option to Flash your module. You're done. According to the website, you will have to use Internet Explorer in order for your computer to detect the module. .

does It work with European cars ?
I have a golf 7 with smart key and DSG transmission?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2015
Best Answer: The DBALL2 will work with the regular and smart key for the 2015 Golf. However, you will need to keep a spare key with the transponder in the car, tucked under the dash in order for the immobilizer to function. DEI recommends removing the battery before installing.

when using my remote start the power comes on but it does not start. The installer says the LED does not light up. Pit Stop mode works but the brake does not shut it off when pressed.
Any idea what is wrong?
Dave P on Nov 3, 2014
Best Answer: Has remote start system ever worked or is this a new install? If the LED on the DBALL2 does not turn on during the remote start sequence, it either does not have power or it isn't getting the remote start status signal. A competent installer should be able to troubleshoot this and verify the DBALL2 is also properly flashed and programmed to the vehicle. More information is needed. Make, model and year of the vehicle? Make/model of the remote starter? Is the connection to the DBALL2 to the remote starter done by Wire-to-Wire(W2W) or Data-to-Date(D2D). Of course this could also be a remote-start-ready installation and not have a remote starter at all where the bypass is doing the starting by 3x lock or with an RF antenna/remote kit. There are many aspects of an installation which makes it very difficult to troubleshoot without more information.

how does the DBALL2 talk to the remote starter to over ride transponder and security?
Felix Placido c/o Ramon C on Dec 12, 2015
Best Answer: The DBALL2 can communicate with the remote start via the 4 wire D2D cable but it's not always reliable. I recommend hardwiring all inputs and outputs.

hi . do you if this is compatible with any alarm System like Scytek G20
I NEED IT FOR 2009 MAZDA 5 AUTOMATIC?
Quererte D on Oct 11, 2015
Best Answer: G20 is an alarm, this module will not fit your needs, it is meant for remote starts. I'd recommend another alarm system, and that you take this to a professional shop and have it installed. This vehicle has multiplex door locks and normally closed door triggers. If you do not have a working knowledge of relays, resistors, and diodes, please do not attempt this install, as you'll need to use all three on this vehicle. It is not plug and play (they never are). I'd recommend finding a unit from a local shop as some brands include install. Keep in mind every vehicle varies so there may be additional charges associate with your particular vehicle even if the system has install included.

I know it'll cost more in the long run, but having a working vehicle that has a warrantied install is better than being stranded along the road or having your vehicle burn to the ground because it wasn't installed professionally. Please avoid having friends install it as well, I've seen enough of those that were fires waiting to happen.

Good Luck!

(My knowledge: I installed car electronics for a living for five years with MECP certification.)

Best Answer: yes it's what you'll need if you have the G key. the G is referring to the letter which is stamped into the key on the blade portion directly below the key head.

do I need this on a 2011 Santa fe limited ?
quigs on Aug 18, 2015
Best Answer: Hello Tim,

Assuming you're having a remote start system installed (might sound silly, but we do get that), then Yes.

Paul O on Jan 15, 2015
Best Answer: On their website it states what vehicles this could be used for. Make sure to do your homework and find your vehicle before purchasing. They have several but I believe this is their most generic that works on most vehicles. Check!!!

Marcello chose the creative way of determining the answer to your question; Which is correct. The easy way would have been to use the manufactures fit guide, which will result in the same answer as Marcello's . http://xpresskit.com/default.aspx

tiffany m on Jul 28, 2016
Best Answer: Your truck key has a RFID chip in it. You can sacrifice a spare key and use a universal RF bypass like the 556u. Unless you have access to the directechs website and have an XLOADER you will not be able to flash the DB ALL with the firmware required for your vehicle.

Installing a Viper 4806V with a D Ball 2 in a Ford Focus 2010 manual transmission I can get the D ball to program When I cycle the keys the LED flashes orange when I press the program button the unit powers up and the dash lights up and theft light flashes ?
Peter W on Apr 10, 2016
Best Answer: If you followed the schematic on page 8 then the cars ignition will turn on when you push the programming button in step 4 and if you cycled two ORIGINAL keys within 10 seconds of each other and within 10 seconds of step 4 then the module should be programmed. If the theft light flashes in step 4 it may be due to the car having the maximum number of keys programmed to it already or additional key programming is disabled. Use the key-to-go programming to get around this. You will have to flash the DB ALL with that firmware first.

Like a Relay assembly kit or any other harness?
Thanks
Rob W on Dec 14, 2015
Best Answer: Unless you're a dealer with an account to express you will not be given access to the download needed to flash the unit for your specific car I suggest if you want to install it yourself you buy it on eBay already flashed
