Great Product
This thing is great. It does everything. Sound is fantastic. Touch screen is fast with very little lag time. Screen display is very quality and extremely vibrant. You can move the Icons around to suit your pleasure on the home screen. Just like your IPhone. Scrolling is touch easy. The Garmin Navigation is exactly what you would expect from Garmin. All the same features and controls you are familiar with on Garmin products. Only thing different is when it shows the posted speed limit on the road you are driving, and you are exceeding the posted speed limit, your speed indicator turns red. So a quick glance down and you see red you know you are going over the speed limit. It has a 7 (6.95) inch screen which seems huge. The radio controls are easy to navigate and not complicated. Large icons for the seeing impaired like myself. Bluetooth connection is easy and the sound is great. Has a 13 band equalizer. Has other audio sound controls we are all familiar with. The Bluetooth phone connection and sound coming in and going out is great. Called the wife several times and she could not tell if I was driving in my truck at 55 mph or sitting at a stop light. Absolutely flawless. My Dnx891HD sits rather low in my instrument panel and could be hard to see looking down at it but Kenwood thought about that and made it so it actually comes out slightly upon turning the unit on and will tilt up (6 different positions) for better viewing. Upon shutting the unit off it will retract back to the flush position with your instrument panel. Least that is the way I have mine set up. You can adjust the off position angle to your specifications and the on position angle to your specifications. So it has 2 separate angle positions you can set. Off position and on position. You can dim and brighten the screen display to your specification and set it to dim automatically to your specifications when you turn your headlights on for night driving. I added a backup camera which when you put it in reverse the camera comes on in full screen. Also if you are driving forward you can turn the backup camera on and look behind you while driving forward. You can also add a forward direction camera if you like. My particular camera does not have the backup guide lines embedded in the picture. You can hook your iPhone up via HDMI and it will mirror on the DNX891Hd. Unfortunately you will need to use the iPhone controls on the IPhone to do anything, but it is mirrored on the DNX891HD. Hopefully soon you would be able to use the DNX891D touch screen to use the IPhone features. It has Sirius XM Radio and Iheart Radio Access also. Has 2 USB ports. One for IPhone which also charges the phone and the other is a general USB Port. The learning curve is faster than most because it’s a touch screen, but it still takes some time for familiarization with the unit. I spent about ½ hour 3 different sessions to get up to speed then I was at about 80% and comfortable with the features of the unit. Only thing I dislike is the volume control. They are push button and I would rather have a round knob volume control. It has a remote controller which I am familiarizing myself with and beginning to like it. This is the best unit I have ever purchase. Rather expensive but you get what you pay for. It is such a nice unit you think about security. You can purchase a security system separately if you like. I highly recommend this DNX891HD System.
