Ready for Any Aftermarket Stereo

No matter what type of vehicle or aftermarket stereo you are planning on installing, the ASWC-1 has you covered! It is fully compatible with Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse, JVC, and more. just bought Power Acoustik PD-624HB stereo from you and now need to install this device to make steering wheel controls work. The info i've seen on this device does not tell where to connect it on the Stereo. The stereo doesn't have a 3.5mm jack, so I've got to wire the female adapter to one of the wires from the stereo. Can you tell me which stereo wire to connect to? Thanks for the assist.

Best Answer: Hello Eddie,

The headunit will fit, because your vehicle accepts any traditional Single Din headunit, like the BT558U. However, the ASWC-1 has not been tested with your vehicle. Please Call Axxess at 1-800-253-8324 for further information.

The Specs of your Alpine headunit will tell you if a steering wheel control module will be accepted. You did not provide a model number, so I cannot confirm. In regards to your bike, you will need to contact Metra/Axxess to make sure your specific trim level will accept the module.

Joel G on Oct 8, 2014
Best Answer: The axxess ASWC-1 will work in both these applications. For more information and vehicle specific wiring go to the axxess interfaces site. I recommend studying the wiring diagrams before the initial install and crimp/ziptie wires not needed before hand. It makes it much easier when the dash is torn apart and there are wires everywhere.

Best Answer: Yes it will. I've used both the PAC module and the Axxess module and believe me the Axxess is much more user friendly. I like the ease of plug and play. Plus I've experienced multiple issues with the PAC and haven't had one yet with the Axxess. Just my experience is all. Both will work. Good luck.

Best Answer: Hello Bashir,

You will ABSOLUTELY need the Axxess ASWC-1 to retain your steering wheel controls. "Prewired ASWC-1 harness included" this implies Just that, the HARNESS is already attached but it does NOT include the MODULE which is the 'brain' of the operation. The harness is included to make installation of the ASWC-1 easier.

To reiterate, you NEED the ASWC-1 module WITH the Axxess XSVI-9005-NAV harness.

Can this share the same 12 accessory and ground wire as the head unit or does it need its own separate ones? My 2011 Crown Victoria LX seems to only have one of each so I'm not sure how those need to be wired.
j5689 on Mar 1, 2015
Best Answer: You can definitely share power & ground. The only thing to watch for is the "switched" versus "unswitched" power leads to the head unit. You'll have one of each, with the unswitched one being connected direct to the battery (for radio "memory"). You *don't* want that one for the ASWC-1.

I need an aftermarket radio with Bluetooth for a 2001 Grand prix (gtx) and the steering wheel adapter, any suggestions?
Lynn B on Dec 16, 2014
Best Answer: The radio you choose will depend on your budget and the features you are looking for...i always go with pioneer head units.

In terms of the steering wheel adapter, the axxess ASWC-1 works great but doesn't always work for the Bluetooth buttons (which i doubt your car has since it's a 2001.) So it shouldn't be an issue for you.

I just bought a new Kenwood radio for my 1995 bmw 740i and i even bought the correct harmest but i still cannot hear any music from speakers can someone help me ?
EDDIE E on Dec 14, 2014
Best Answer: Based on your question. I would say to double check your wiring and make sure all speaker leads from head unit are in fact wired correctly. and that the harness is the Correct one. There is a chance that you have a factory ampikifer and if so. You will need a specific bypass harness. You can not typically use an aftermarket head unit with a factory amp... If by chance you have a factory amp that no bypass is avail for. You may just need to run new wires direct from your Kenwood to your speakers. Personally I always run my own new wires. But it does come at an additional expense.

Will this work for a chevy 1500?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2014
Best Answer: Simple answer, yes. Without proper vehicle information I can only give a blanket answer. There are many things to consider. Do you have a factory Bose system? Do you have OnStar and if so do you wish to keep it? The aswc-1 will work with only 3 to 4 wires connected depending on the head unit. You will need a vehicle specific wire harness regardless of the radio you choose. You need ignition, ground and data for aswc-1 to work. Assuming the 1500 is a 2014 or later the data wire you're after is a green w/black stripe in the steering column. As far as ignition goes...the best place to get it is from the aftermarket radio harness. DO NOT try to get it at the ignition. A lighter plug that loses power when the truck is off is acceptable as well. In the end I recommend either GMOS-LAN-09 for non-Bose w/OnStar or LC-GMRC-LAN-09 which retains factory chimes. Hope this helps!

how do you hook it up to a Nissan 2011 altima coupe ?
robertpablo on Aug 7, 2014
Best Answer: You will hook up the black ground wire to the ASWC to HU ground, red power wire from ASWC to HU, and then there are two color specific wires based upon your vehicle. There will be a remote wire from your HU to the ASWC. You auto program it and then your set. Mine had two wires one it told me to ground out but, each vehicle is different. Remember if you unhook your battery after auto program is done you might have to turn the remote function back on on your HI.

I have a 2012 Chevy Silverado with OnStar and steering wheel controls. What do I need to retain these and install a Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS ?
LKLLOPEZ on Jan 12, 2015
Best Answer: Hi Kurt,

The Axxess ASWC-1 will absolutely be necessary to retain the Steering Wheel Controls. In regards to everything else you need, our website is designed to show you the accessories, and answer your question in the process. Simply add the headunit to your cart, enter your vehicle information when prompted, and allow the accessories to be added along with the headunit. Said accessories is what is needed to properly install the headunit.

Alternatively, you can contact our Sales Team to place your order, to insure you get the proper parts. In addition, doing this will allow us to swap for a METRA harness (which I recommend, because it makes installing the ASWC-1 easier) . Also, please note, the GMOS-04 WILL NOT!! work for you vehicle.

Best Answer: Theoretically (the axxess control and Jensen radio should work for steering wheel controls only) if u just want to retain steering wheel controls (if u want warning chimes it's another module). The axxess is a universal fit so it basically fits all major manufacturers even Jensen(the model u are getting is steering wheel control ready). For the auto detect feature to work on your pickup (once wired appropriately with easy to follow instructions)with ignition on and watching the led (should blink) tap the volume up repeatedly (the led should go out after one or two taps) then enjoy the light show don't touch anything and light should come on and stay on if completed successfully, worst case scenario after a few attempts and it still doesn't work is manually programming it. The detailed instructions should help u troubleshoot if something doesn't go right the first time, and the only thing u won't have is warning chimes and possibly rear seat audio controls (if applicable) that's a separate module for those functions, and modules do come with or without onstar. Hope this helps, and Good Luck!

Can the Axxess ASWC-1 also be used for the wireless remote control input in the Pioneer AVH-280 BT unit? If not what item can be used.?
tim m on Jun 3, 2016
Best Answer: Hi Tim,

Are you implying that you DO NOT have Steering Wheel Controls (SWC) AND wish to wirelessly control the stereo? If you, you seek this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_36614_Axxess-RFASWC.html

or Are you suggesting that you DO have SWC and wish to install the ASWC-1 through the "Wired remote input"? If this is the case, your installer MUST use this input to install this part.

There isn't a "wireless remote control input" on this unit - at least, there isn't such an input referred to that name by Pioneer (source, site or manual)

My JVC radio KD-R680BT has a microphone which uses the 3.5 mm jack. How would I connect the 3.5 mm jack plug from the Axxess ASWC-1?
Thanks
Fernando R on May 31, 2016
Best Answer: Hi Fernando,

The 'Mic' connections is NOT for Steering Wheel Control modules - Needless to say, that is intended for an external microphone ONLY.

We aren't familiar with a 'KD-R680BT' , but JVC uses a WIRE on the harness itself for Steering Wheel Control connections, here is an example:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures_new.php?id=106737&picture_id=2838861

If your headunit does NOT have this wire, then it is NOT compatible.

Best Answer: I'm pretty sure you would need to get the new steering wheel to talk to the proper control module first, then the Axxess module will intercept the steering wheel communications and inputs and send them to the Clarion. I don't think you'll ever get the steering wheel to talk to the Axxess module directly. To get the steering wheel communicating, you'll probably need to visit the dealer first to verify the control module installed from the factory is capable of supporting the new steering wheel and then get them to configure that module for the wheel controls, then install the custom audio stuff. Hope that helps.

Hello-

Two questions:

1.) I have a 2006 Lexus IS350 (Without navigation factory navigation, and without the Mark Levinson option). I'm aware the the board for the factory CD changer (head unit) needs to be retained in the system to keep the HVAC functional. This issue aside, If I install an aftermarket head unit, will the AX-ADBOX1 (or AX-ADBOX2) provide the proper interface between the factory digital Pioneer amp and the new head unit? Assuming the answer is yes; which unit do I need (1 or 2)?

2.) In order to retain the use of my factory steering wheel controls; do I need to also purchase an ASWC-1, or is this function handled by the ADBOX(1/2)?

Thank you, looking forward to your response!

Axxess AX-ADBOX1
Axxess AX-ADBOX1
Best Answer: Hello Greg,

1) Removing the OEM headunit in that vehicle is HIGHLY discouraged. As such, there Isn't a 'vehicle specific' harness for that vehicle. The AX-ADBOX1 is HALF of a "harness" and is Technically an "interface". It still requires an actual harness to mate It to the vehicle, which there is no such harness.
Generally speaking, if there was and you wished to retain fade control, then it would be advised to use the AX-ADBOX1. We suggest speaking to Technical Support for confirmation:

techsupport@metra-autosound.com
tel: 800.253.TECH (8324)

2) ASWC-1 would be needed IF 1 wasn't the main issue here.
