I had a Pioneer AVHP3300 that had integrated blue tooth and it worked great: answered calls, had a dial pad uploaded all contacts and notified of texts. I decided to upgrade to the larger screen unit AVHP4300 and the blue tooth add on. It only has BASIC functionality: you have to dial from your phone, no phone contacts, no text alerts. Overall it works but not a great addition to a really nice head unit.

I installed this unit with an AVH 4300. It syncs perfectly with my Motorola Windows phone. Streams music also. Has limitations with my head unit but I knew this beforehand. Will not upload a phone book, identify callers and you have to initiate calls from your phone. But what it does do it does well and the sound is great.

I had this installed while I was on leave from Iraq, so I haven't gotten to use it that much yet, only about a week before I came back. But it worked very well. The main reason I wanted this was to all Pandora to stream over the Bluetooth to my AVH-P4300DVD. The only downside is it doesn't display track information or artwork on the head unit, but it does allow for skipping songs. A couple of people had issues hearing me on a couple of calls, but I haven't adjusted the microphone settings or even looked to see if that's possible. The muffler on my truck is pretty loud, so it could be part of the problem. I would recommend this to anyone who has a compatible head unit. It doesn't allow access to the phone book. Call history is pretty basic, too. But I knew both of those before I bought it. It still would be nice to have a better interface displayed on the screen and allow me to see my phone book.

This Bluetooth add-on unit hooks up great with my AVH-P4200DVD and was pretty easy to install, but for the price the total lack of 2011 Bluetooth features is a crime. I can't believe Pioneer charges so much for this unit, though SonicElectronix has the best price around.
It does phone calls, voice dailing, and music streaming pretty well, but dont expect much else. No contacts list, no ability to control microphone level, no on screen signal, battery, or service meter, and minimal user-programmable controls make it obsolete vs. newer (and cheaper!) models on the market. For basic phone calls and music streaming, this unit works pretty well, but as far as features and bang for your buck, it is a flop.
