Attention boat lovers! The new Alpine RUE-M1RF marine remote control kit is compatible with Alpine head units that offers the steering wheel remote-control ready feature. The remote included in this kit floats, is water resistant, and works on RF frequency for improved controls.

Extended Operation
Previous Extended Operation remotes typically used infrared (IR) designs, which made them poorly suited for the outdoor boating environment because sun reflection interfered with the IR remote eye. The new Alpine RUE-M1RF and RUE-M1EX marine remote system uses RF (radio frequency) technology to avoid this problem. Now you can control your sound system with the remote from up to 100 feet away!

Included in the Kit
The Alpine RUE-M1RF kit comes with an RF receiver that plugs into the steering wheel remote control jack and one remote control. Additional single remotes may be purchased separately (model Alpine RUE-M1EX).

Extra Features
The Alpine RUE-M1RF remote comes with a holder that the remote can clip into to prevent it from getting tossed overboard in rough waters. You can also string the remote through a lanyard and hang it up to prevent loss. For huge boats, or remote lovers, you can program up to seven additional RUE-M1EX remotes to have a system with eight total remotes!

Protections:

  • ATSM-B117 Testing for salt/fog to prevent corrosion
  • UV weathering resistance (ASTM G154/D4329)
  • NEMA IP67 Tested for resistance to dust and water submersion

Item includes a 30 days SonicElectronix.com warranty.

Remote Control Features

Remote Type
The type of remote is determined by the remotes use.

Car Alarm remotes are used with security systems. These are mainly replacement remotes for the vehicles security system.

In-Dash Receiver remotes are used for controlling a compatible in-dash head unit.

Marine remotes are used for use on boats. They are marine certified and treated to withstand harsh marine conditions.

Television remotes are usually universal remotes that are compatible with all types of televisions. Some are also compatible with VCRs and DVD players.

Compatible Brands
This is the manufacturer(s) that the item is compatible with. Unless it is universal, usually the item will only be compatible with the same manufacturer.

For example, a JVC Bluetooth adapter will only work with JVC units. A Pioneer iPod adapter will only work with Pioneer head units.

Wireless
This means that the item is wireless. It transmits its signal to the receiver without the use of wires.

If the value is no, then the item requires a wire to transfer the signal.

Remote LCD Display
Some devices (such as remote controls) feature an LCD display to show information such as text, pictures, icons, or other helpful information.
Marine Certified
Marine certified means that the unit has been designed and manufactured with a marine use in mind. It will withstand the harsh conditions that come from marine use. Generally, they are treated against UV rays and treated with special protective coatings.

Great working remote control for an Alpine CD player. I hid my cd player in the glove compartment and the remote works great.

Works Great

September 17, 2013

Use this remote for operating a Alpine CDA-118M Marine head unit. Works from anywhere in, on or around the boat. You do not have to point it at or be in line of sight of the head unit for this remote to work. Attach it to a lanyard and put it around your neck and you will have control of your stereo anywhere you are on or around the boat.

Remote works perfectly

March 11, 2009

I needed a remote that could control the head unit installed in my '56 Ford hot rod. The head unit is hidden in the glove box, about 5 feet away from the driver's seat and behind a very heavy steel door (like they USED to make cars). The RUE-M1RF was the perfect solution. Even though the receiver is sealed away in the glove box, I have complete control of the sound system without having to take my eyes off the road. I highly recommend this product. Also, the person at Sonic who worked with me figure out what I needed was very helpful. He took the time to explain how this remote was different from the standard piece and what I'd need to do to install it. Shipping was quick and the transaction was very smooth.

Works as advertised....usually

August 29, 2007

I have this unit attached to my Alpine DVA-9861 on my 40' boat. The Head Unit is below in the living quarters and the remote is up at the bridge. The RF receiver plugs into the back of the HU where the steering wheel control would attach. The attachment looks like a little headphone jack and there is also a +/- attachment and another wire that you attach to 12v to link the remote to the receiver. The little headphone plug could be improved- when you attach the receiver and then cram it into the Nav. station below, there's a good chance that you will knock the plug loose. I ended up using some electrical tape to secure it in place. The remote unit that I keep at the helm is small and fits tightly into the little mounting attachment. I ditched the mounting attachment and put some velcro on the back side of this. I have the remote attached up under a concealed place in a little cut-out cubby. The velcro works well and it keeps the remote out of the weather and out of sight. Performance- I specifically ordered this unit because it would allow me to control the volume etc. from the helm-- this is not 'line of sight' where IR would work OK. On the other hand, it is only about 15 feet fromt he helm to the Nav station below. There seems to be a slight delay between pushing the button and getting the expected result from the HU. Sometimes this is 5 seconds or more before anything happens-- then when something does happen, it goes very quickly-- like turning the volume all the way down instead of just a little bit. It may take some getting used to. The buttons also seem a little 'sticky' in that they do not release smoothly- I may have just received a faulty unit. Overall though it works as advertised for the most part and it sure beats going below to make any adjustments. Overall, for a hundred bucks, I was expecting something that was a little better.
