Pioneer DVD

Prior to this purchase, I was looking at using my existing head unit, an Alpine single DIN CD/MP3 player with USB outputs (2volt outputs) and wanted something with more SQ that offered high outputs (at least 4 volts). In the past I have gone from a headunit with 2volts to one with 4 and there was a pretty big difference in sound quality.
I was going to use an Audio Control Three.1 preamp/equalizer, but they were out of stock. For the price, I could go with a headunit that offered 4 volt preouts and use the built in EQ/X-over and pay a little more so I decided to go that route. Upon researching the pros and cons of the single DINS (Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, and Alpine), I ended up paying a little extra to get a double DIN unit instead of having a single DIN with a useless storage tray underneath.
After researching double DINs, I went with this Pioneer unit. I did a ton of research after narrowing down to Kenwood, Pioneer, and even Sony. I had a Pioneer DVD in the past in my vehicle, just not with the 4v outputs. For the amount of features and the controls you get with this unit, it's hard to beat! First off you have a built in crossover with various crossover points that you can control the cutoff points as well from 24db to 9db depending on the size speakers you are using. There is an equalizer programmed presets and 2 custom presets. You can adjust all 13 bands of frequencies, again giving you a lot of control to custom tailor your music to your liking. The only thing I don't like about it, is that when you are adjusting each slope, it doesn't adjust until you take your finger off of the "slider" so you can't hear the difference as you are moving it up or down each notch.

I love the real time alignment allows you to tailor the sound according to the size speakers and the positions. It doesn't just let you choose where you are sitting, but you can control the distance of each speaker FL, FR, RL, RR so that the sound from all 4 reach you at the same time for a balanced soundstage. You can program for all 4 seats, the driver's side seat, the passenger side, both front seats, both rear seats, or turn the alignment off. Really cool feature IMO.

You have backup camera inputs and you can add a game system too. I don't plan on adding an Xbox or Play Station, but I did use the rear camera feature that turns on as you put your vehicle in reverse and then when shifting out of reverse, whatever source you are using comes back up.

The Pandora feature is really nice. You have the picture of the album and can Fwd through if you want, give a thumbs up or thumbs down, and it will display all of your Pandora stations that you can select through the Pioneer unit. The only thing I didn't like is if you have a lot of stations, scrolling up and down is a bit tricky.

Other cool features: You can control the subwoofer frequency and the amount of output. You can choose crossover slopes and cutoffs to match the size subwoofer and increase just the sub output. You also have low, medium, high, or off for the loudness button.

You can adjust the output for each source you use (tuner/DVD/Pandora/etc.). Calling my wife from inside the car, she can hear me clearly without any background noise.

Others: DVD works great, although I will hardly ever use this feature. I mainly got it for the touch controls and to nicely fill in the dash where the stock unit went.

You can adjust the background and even add your on pictures if you would like. You have preset colors for the buttons or you can customize the color to match your dash lights.

Things I didn't like too much. These are very minor, but you can't turn off the beeping noise as you adjust the volume or adjust sound, menu options, etc. It is set to beep all the time. When I track up, sometimes the display will turn off because the buttons are so close together. The issue with adjusting the sliders for each EQ frequency doesn't allow you to hear them adjust until you take your finger off as you move the slider up and down. I prefer a rotary knob (like my old Alpine) versus push buttons. Again, these are minor things and shouldn't sway you not to purchase this unit.

Overall, I am very happy with this unit. I am going to include the other equipment that I am using because I hate reading reviews where the writer use using cheap crappy equipment to evaluate the product being reviewed. There is a huge improvement in my sound system that includes:

JL Audio Slash 300/4 pushing Alpine 6 1/2" Type R components for the front speakers and Kicker 6 1/2" coaxials for the rear.
Kicker 750.1 amp pushing a single Rockford Fosgate Punch 12" Stage 3 subwoofer in a ported box.

The system sounds crystal clear and thumps when I want it to. It really has improved the sound from the previous head unit, an Alpine CDE-134BT. I know it's not a fair comparison as the Alpine didn't have high voltage outputs and costs way less.

pioneer AVH-x3700BHS

I was looking for a deck that would give me good iPhone integration, a DVD/CD player (not yet ready to give up my CDs) and no moving faceplate (thinking reliability). While I'm a big Alpine fan, this Pioneer deck offered these features at a good price. Also too many Alpine reviews about problems with phone integration. This unit proved to be easy to install when adding a wiring kit, a steering wheel control adapter, and a new faceplate kit. Not all performance is perfect (volume changes between modes are quirky, phone book isn't properly organized after loading from the phone, etc), but use is very acceptable. Thanks for a good product Pioneer.
Under my scores, Durabilty is ? - I haven't owned this long enough, but Sonicelectronix requires an entry...

Best value, best sound, best options

After living with a four letter brand whose name shall not be mentioned - and priced at only a few dollars less then this wonderful device - I can attest to the difference in thoughtful software design and user interface between the competition and this unit .

Everything about the AVH-X3700BHS is geared towards mobile audio enthusiasts. From DVD playback options, HD radio, USB external source device control (iPod iterations), EQ settings, time delays and crossover options, this thing does what every control head should.

My only "issue" is a momentary loss of sync between a digital source (like an iPod) when advancing or decrementing files - what I mean is, there is an occasional stutter as the DAC attempts to sync with the source - which (based on the unmentioned device) seems to be common in this configuration, but I'm not positive. Other than than that, there is little to complain about here. One caveat: I have yet to complete the install of external amps and sub woofer, but the expectation is more perfection.

Highly recommended! PS: can't speak to the "durability" rating because I haven't used it long enough to increase the rating beyond 3 stars.

new radio

came quick and very well packed for the bad weather, the wiring kit that come with the new radio was a snap to make the installation go with no head aches, wish I would have ponied up the bucks for the steering wheel controls, thought who needs them but I well add them on later

Nice pick up

Pioneer has once again made me happy. I upgraded from a single din pioneer deck and love this product. Bluetooth works great and easy to switch from devices (ie ipad to phone.) DVDs play great and sound is nice. Only issue i had was with shipping. My face plate got back ordered so it delayed my order 2 days. I would recommend this stereo to anybody that loves to listen to music on multiple devices or sources. I have not had it long enough to know durability.

Pioneer

I have mixed feelings about this unit.
Pros: It sounds excellent, has many features. I usually purchase Kenwood, but tried Pioneer this time and I love the sound. I have it running through a Kenwood KAC-7005PS amp. Installed in a 2014 Silverado.

Cons: I miss having an external knob to adjust the channels or volume. That is a big deal for me. I wondered how I would like a unti without it and it is big, but not a deal breaker. Gave Ease of Use 4 stars because no volume or station change knob. I wouldn't do it again, but that is personal preference, nothing wrong with product.

Great HU !

Got this gem installed. Awesome unit, love the equalizer! This replaced the factory Bose unit in my 2012 Silverado. Be sure to verify all harness' and modules. I'm in the process of installing headrest video monitors for the dvr player. Highly recommend !
