In-Dash Receiver Specifications

Receiver Size

Single DIN: 1 DIN dimensions will work with all single DIN installation kits we have to offer. Single DIN radios are the most common size for after-market stereos.

Single DIN slot with flip-out screen: The DIN stereo includes a retractable, flip-out screen. Before purchasing, make measurements to be sure there is no interference with dash accessories such as A/C vents or shift levers.

Single DIN slot with a larger face: Standard single DIN size, but the display is larger then the standard single DIN size. Due to the nature of the larger face, problems may arise when installing in particular vehicles. These stereos are great for single DIN slots where you want a larger screen.

1.5 DIN: This size is very uncommon in vehicles, however this size opening is most commonly found in Chrysler and Chevrolet vehicles.

Double DIN: Approximately 4-inches in height, this size is becoming more common every year. Prior to 2000, this size was typically only found in Japanese vehicles such as those made by Honda or Toyota. Now, it is becoming more popular for many vehicles to be fit with a Double DIN opening.

Double DIN
Motorized Faceplate
Some in-dash car stereos feature a motorized faceplate that moves to expose a CD or DVD slot. This is a convenient feature that allows the front display to be larger and easier to read. The positioning of the monitor gives you control over the angle you would like to view information on the stereo.
Yes
Remote Control
Allows control of specific features and functions from a remote control. Typically they are used to prevent button wear on your radio, or to allow easier navigation of menus.
Yes
Peak Power Output
This form of power rating refers to the maximum amount of power an electronic device can handle or output in an instant without damage occurring. Often times this maximum is achieved during a brief musical burst, such as a drum accent, or low bass hit.

Some manufacturers display peak power ratings on the face of their products to increase the appeal to consumers. The RMS power rating is more accurate, and we recommend using it for product comparison.

50 watts x 4 channels
RMS Power Output
The amount of continuous power, measured in watts, that an amplifier produces is called RMS power. The higher the RMS rating, the louder and cleaner your music sounds. The RMS output figure is much more accurate than the peak rating when comparing products.
14 watts x 4 channels
Preamp RCA Outputs
RCA outputs, commonly known as preamp outputs, allow you to connect one or sometimes multiple external amplifiers. An in-dash receiver will commonly have one, two or three sets of RCA outputs that can be used to connect external amplifiers and other components. One pair of RCA outputs will typically provide a full range signal that can be used for most subwoofer or speaker amplifiers. Two pairs of RCA outputs can typically be configured as four full range signals, or also as two full range and two subwoofer signals. Three sets of RCA outputs will almost always produce four speaker signals and two subwoofer signals for use with multiple amplifiers.
3 Pairs (Front, Rear, and Subwoofer)
Preamp Voltage
The preamp output rating is measured in volts (V). The higher the rating, the stronger the signal. This results in less unwanted noise being picked up.
4 volts
Built-In Equalizer
The number of graphic or parametric equalizer bands the stereo receiver is equipped with. The more EQ options, the more you will be able to adjust your music to your liking.
13-Band
Display Type
The type of display on your receiver refers to the monitor that is used to display the source information such as song names, radio stations, or track times.

Dot-Matrix Text Display: A simple display which uses dots in specific illuminated color(s) to light up and form letters or numbers that are displayed on the receiver.

Graphic or Motion Display: Typically found in mid to high-end receivers and give your text information and receiver more life by adding motion, backgrounds, or multiple colors to your display. There are types of graphic displays such as 3D Graphic, Motion, and OEL (Organic Electroluminescent) displays. They can range from one color to full color displays and typically allow you to select from one of many built-in animations, background images, screensavers or other graphics to enhance your experience and add an extra bit of personality to your system. Some units also come with software that allow you to load your own customizable pictures or animations.

LCD Monitor Display: Can be as small as 2" or as large as 10". Some LCD displays are motorized for angle adjustment. LCD monitors display full motion video playback as well as your standard text such as track status, radio station information and more depending on the receiver's features.

TFT-LCD Monitor
Display Color
The display color refers to the color of the text and or graphics on the receiver.

Multi-Color: When more than one color is on the display, for example one part of the text is white, while the other part is blue.

Variable-Color: The display colors can be changed by the user. If the default color of text/display is blue for example, the user can change the settings to where the color turns to red. Variable color displays are typically described in detail in the item's description.

TFT-LCD Display: In-dash receivers with a video screen that display multiple colors and often times video such as DVD, navigation or other video sources.

Variable Colors
CEA-2006 Compliant
Amplifiers that have been tested to meet specific standards. When a car amplifier meets these standards, you can be sure that it will be able to produce the amount of power specified by the official CEA-2006 rating. Usually, these rating consist of the following items:
  • RMS Power
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio

This rating applies to both external car amplifiers, as well as the amplifiers inside of in-dash stereos.

Yes

Some units have an optional input that allows for a USB adapter to be purchased separately and used with the unit.
Rear
Number of Rear USB Inputs
1
Additional Audio/Video Inputs
These inputs enable the unit to receive an audio or video signal from a separate source. There are many different types of connections and ways to accomplish this. Most common are RCA Composite cables and 3.5mm mini-jack plugs.

RCA Composite Inputs
These are your typical red, white, and yellow RCA composite cables that are common among devices with audio and video inputs. The red and white cables are dedicated for audio. The red cable is for the right channel and the white is for the left channel. The yellow cable is specifically for the video signal. Because this type of auxiliary cable contains 2 channels of audio, it will support stereo sound.

3.5mm
This is commonly referred to as a mini-jack or a headphone jack. It is a 3.5mm plug that transfers audio only. There is a right and left audio channel on the plug which allows for stereo sound playback.

3.5mm AV Input
These plugs look similar to the common 3.5mm mini-jack, however they carry a third channel dedicated for video.

Optional
This means that an auxiliary input is possible, but only with the use of an optional accessory. These optional adapters will sometimes use the CD Changer port or other port on the back of a unit that might restrict the use of other expandability features. These accessories are typically sold separately.

7"
Device Mirroring
This is the ability to "mirror" a device's screen (i.e SmartPhone or Tablet) onto the headunit's display. Please check with the manufacture's website for updated information regarding compatibility and cables required for proper performance.

Expandability Features

Navigation
Built-in navigation is a convenient feature that allows the driver to receive driving directions and guidance.

Some in-dash head units are built-in with the navigation features, while others require an add on navigation box. Other navigation options include portable navigation units that you can take with you or attach to the dash of your vehicle.

Optional (Accessory Required and Sold Separately)
Compatible Smartphones
Some stereos work with iOS (Apple) or Android smartphone operating systems, while some stereos work with both or neither. Find out here which operating systems this stereo is compatible with.
iPhone (iOS)
Android
Audio/Video Outputs
Audio/Video outputs are typically used to connect an overhead monitor to an aftermarket stereo. This is the number of A/V outputs that the item has. These outputs are usually RCA Composite cables.

RCA Composite Outputs
These are your typical red, white, and yellow RCA composite cables that are common among devices with audio and video inputs. The red and white cables are dedicated for audio. The red cable is for the right channel and the white is for the left channel. The yellow cable is specifically for the video signal. Because this type of auxiliary cable contains 2 channels of audio, it will support stereo sound.

1 Video RCA Output
Satellite Radio
This feature signifies whether or not the receiver is compatible with XM or Sirius Satellite Radio. "Optional" means while the receiver is capable of SIRIUS/XM playback and connectivity, you will still need to purchase an additional satellite tuner, adapter, and/or antenna.
Optional - SiriusXM (Accessory required and sold separately)
HD Radio
This feature refers to whether or not the receiver is capable of receiving high-definition digital HD Radio broadcasts by either a built-in HD Radio tuner, or more commonly with the purchase of an optional HD Radio tuner box. Receivers which are HD Radio Ready generally require an additional purchase of a separate tuner.
Yes (Built-In/Included HD Radio Tuner)
Bluetooth Connectivity
This feature refers to whether or not the head unit is able to connect to a hands-free Bluetooth device. Head units that are Bluetooth ready typically require the purchase of an optional adapter or accessory that connects to the rear of the head unit. This optional accessory allows you to accept phone calls through your head unit and speakers. Some head units have built-in Bluetooth hands free capabilities with an included remote-mount microphone or built-in microphone.
Yes (Built-in/Included [Bluetooth Controls, Adapter and/or Microphone Included])
A2DP Music Streaming
The Advanced Audio Distribution Profile will wirelessly stream music and other audio from an A2DP compatible device.
Yes
Steering Wheel Control Compatible
In order to retain a vehicle's factory steering wheel remote controls, a wired-remote input is needed on the aftermarket stereo.

If "Yes", then the aftermarket stereo is compatible with steering wheel remote controls. If an additional accessory is required for the steering wheel controls to work properly, a compatible piece will be listed.

Universal (Accessory required and sold separately)
  • PAC ControlPro: PAC ControlPRO Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface
  • Axxess ASWC-1: Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface

Great Head unit with lots of features.

January 25, 2015

First impression; Great looking GUI, button layout is pretty good, FIts nice and flush with the bezel kit with the lower interface sticking out.

Touch screen is pretty accurate for a in-car system. I've had a few that you had to press once or twice to get what you wanted.

So many Color choices, matched my orange nissan lighting perfectly, you'd think its a OEM instal!

Volume control / EQ software is great and accurate.
( I love the physical button volume controls).

The audio just from this deck brought my paper speakers to life, huge improvement. Held me off a few months before getting new speakers.

The Appradio app can be clumsy and could use some work.

Mirror Link from my HTC One M8 works pretty well, Though the screen fresh time (From when you swipe/drag) is noticeably slow, but you can't expect much more from a USB cable without going USB 3.0 and updating the software a lot.

I LOVE, (and i cant express it enough) the fact that you only need ONE, yes i said ONE cable to connect your phone for mirrorlink / Appradio. No buy our pioneer special cable bull&*# nonsense. USB Male-Female extension is included. You can use your USB cable to operate the device. (NO 40$ cables from pioneer required!) at least in my experience.

I recommend this head unit, lots of bells and whistles for the price. And i am all about price/performance.

Good purchase again, thanks sonic electronics.

Great Radio

December 21, 2014

This DVD player is great. I love the features and the amount of tuning available is why I always choose Pioneer. Having the old Pioneer Premier 980BT, I was kind of bummed that Pioneer did away with the feature of putting your own personal pictures on as background pics or screensavers. Also, I wish they would update the software so I can use the MirrorLink feature with my Note 4. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great unit that just got better!!!

January 7, 2015

I ordered the Pioneer AVH-X5700BHS because of the vast variety of features it has. Installing was easy with the Schoshe mount and harness, and the e-brake bypass cable is a must.
Love being able to play video and use apps while the car is in drive.
Perhaps the coolest feature about the Pioneer is the new "Appradio One", which allows you to use only one cable, the USB-lightning for iPhone or USB-USB for android to use appradio mode instead of having to get the insane number of adapters. Available through a free firmware update.
Overall this unit rocks, amazing sound output and a plethora of features.
Sonic Electronix made it extremely easy to get everything together I needed, and I LOVE this pioneer. *highly recommended*

Great screen for the price. Cool visual and audio customization. Looks amazing in my dodge charger and works well with my galaxy s4. The only downside is it only shows album art via bluetooth using a iPhone or Pandora. If u connect it using usb it shows the album art.

Best deck I have ever installed

March 15, 2015

I installed this deck for a friend and wow... this deck is incredible. There are so many different ways to make your sound perfect for whatever type of music you listen to. The 4V preouts put out very strong and clean signals. And there is so much customization you can mess around with to make it do what ever you want. It has already exceeded my expectations and i feel like I have only scratched the surface.

Love it, could be more user friendly though

March 23, 2015

Love it, but they seemed to have forgotten something, like an off button. If it's there, I can't find it, and it isn't in the manual either! The only way I see how is to select AV source and touch off. Why can't they put that on the screen as soon as you touch the source button? Would have liked it more if the song titles and artist names could be displayed on a line longer than 10 characters or whatever. You're forced to sit and wait for the rest of the info to scroll in. Perhaps all RDS systems are like this? LOVE the radio otherwise. Definitely delivers more powerful sound than stock radio in Toyota camry non-jbl radio. My inside door panels rattle, have to lower bass and adjust sound to keep it clean. I also wish the display would tilt towards you (top part towards you), you can only tilt the bottom part out towards you. It could use a dedicated seek + and - Instead of the awful press and hold for a second, also can't get the scan tuning (where it plays each station for 5 seconds and goes to the next one) to work as instructed in the manual. No need for a bypass with this radio, just ground the brake wire, you know, so you can watch this movie without needing to pull the e brake. I expect this to last a while. Even in sub-zero weather, lcd opens and closes strongly. Lcd touch panel needs to be just a bit more sensitive, just a bit...

Great unit. Pioneer has come a long way.

March 19, 2015

The only negative that I can say about this unit is that it seems to have a hard time staying connected to HD (digital) radio. As a result, the listening experience when using the radio suffers. Every time the unit acquires or loses a digital signal, the sound stutters slightly. It is very noticeable. However, if radio isn't your main concern then this may be the unit for you. Bluetooth sounds great and displays artwork when using Pandora. There are plenty of EQ options and so many settings it may be a little overwhelming for some. In my opinion it's better to have more than not enough.

What to say, I have owned my pioneer deck for 6 months now. Mirror link finally started working this last month, useless. Crappy app that uses poor music player, poor navigation app, etc. I do like the pandora radio, however it won't work with mirror link? Also integrated phone won't work with mirrorlink? Who thought of this? Very dangerous ui. Don't I repeat don't buy it for mirror link. The DVD player is nice, the sound quality is good, support is slow and unfocused, for example three year old or older phones work great with this radio, only late model phones, ie. A year or two old aren't supported. Really, don't support new technology only old? Like I said, don't buy it for the gimmicks. Actually buy something else.

Love this deck so far

October 21, 2015

Have been using this deck for a few days after installing and, and it has been great.

1) Bluetooth audio streaming works great (using Spotify from my Nexus 5 phone)
2) Bluetooth hands free calling works great (receiving and making calls). The voice activated prompts work to make a call, but there are too many. Clarity is good according to the people I have talked to. I mounted the Mic on top of the steering Column.
3) USB and CD player work, and quick enough to load.
4) Radio works, but quality is not great. Not sure if this is a problem with the unit or a problem with the input adapter.
5) Touchscreen is pretty good. Menu's are mostly easy to navigate, but organization can be a bit better. (Save Settings in the middle of the menus, bass boost at the bottom!)
6) Excellent customization for the audio setup. I haven't had time to tune my audio system, but looking forward to that.
7) Steering wheel input controls work perfectly.
8) Reverse camera operation works well. Switch the car into reverse and the screen switches after a second or two.
9) I didn't install the external Navigation Module or Sirius XM, but I assume they would be good as well.
10) I don't know how the internal amp works as I installed an external amp for my speakers.

For reference I installed this into a 2006 Honda Civic Si Coupe.

An O.K. buy...

November 23, 2015

This deck does everything I want it to do, but it's very slow doing it. After you select something on the screen, there's a 2-4 second delay before it actually does something. I looked for updates but mine says it is the most recent version :/ Im overall happy with it, but will make sure I test head units in real life before I purchase.

Android compatible

September 25, 2015

I love the layout of this unit, its easy to access the settings and inputs, but the biggest reason i bought this was because Pioneer rates this head unit as being one of the top units that are compatible with the android smart phones,i made sure my phone was on the list and it was supposed to do allot of what an iphone can do,but it won't. I had a samsung s3 some things worked but not even 20% it was time for a phone upgrade so i got a LG G3,it was more compatible then the s3 but i found out it wasn't a match for mirrorlink which is supposed to wireless connect my phone to the radio and be able do any commands that by smart phone including adding the phone keyboard, both of these phones had android 4.4 and i updated the lg to the new 5.0,no mater what i would try do, it seems the only thing i could do is basic bluetooth stuff i even bought a MHL adaptor because i read some were that a direct connection would allow the head unit to see and do everything the smart phone could do.WRONG.I gave my wife my lg and got her upgrade phone just a couple of weeks ago, which is a Samsung Galaxy note 5 edge, which is supposed to be the latest and greatest,it works better the other phones but there is still allot of stuff it won't do that this radio should do.I think that Pioneer and several other car electronics manufactures are WAYYYYY behind when it comes to android compatibility, thy have focused on iphones and haven't given a dam about android until now ,since android is now way out selling iphone or the windows operation phones, but with me i am going to be looking at something that actually does what it supposed to do,some of the Chinese unit offer so much more and are top notch in quility beside most of the stuff we buy here in the USA are made there anyway.

nice but WEAK bluetooth

February 28, 2016

this head unit does have a lot of features. the EQ is a wider range than others in this price unit making it more user tunable per their own ears. i dont expect HDMI from a unit in this price range but the mirrorlink is completely USELESS. it doesnt work for 95% of phones. they dont update the software. thats one thing pioneer is lousy at, software. my biggest gripe is the bluetooth. modern bluetooth chips reach up to 30 feet. this thing cuts out if you step outside of your door with your phone in your pocket. it also skips when playing via bluetooth. sometimes it doesnt do it for an hour roadtrip, and other times it will do it 4-5 times per minute. it is extremely annoying. i dont know if they are using cheap chinese bluetooth chips or what but it needs to improve. this will be my last pioneer product. i will be switching to kenwood where you can pay $100 more and get HDMI and functional bluetooth.... i would not recommend this to anyone who uses bluetooth streaming. if youre a aux person, this is an excellent option

Does this add on have the same UI/software/features that the higher end NEX head units have in their already featured Nav. Basically I want to know if there are any benefits to buying the head unit and nav separate as apposed to buying them together? i.e. the avh x5700bhs and u260 or an avic 7000NEX.

Best Answer: There is an advantage, no extra bulk; also the NeX is the latest and is much faster than the older units. Also if you happen to have an Apple device you can download the software update from Pioneer and have "Apple Carplay" right on the same system.

The maps are fantastic for me, like anything you will have to configure how you want them to work and then it just works. At what volume you want the guidance voice... Etc

Does this unit display album artwork when music is played from a USB thumb drive?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2015
Best Answer: The answer is yes. As long as the site that you're going the music file from provides it. I've got more than a thousand music files, only twenty on my usb thumb drive, some have the album art and some doesn't. That is because of where I got them. Hope this helps.

The usb port at the back, does it allow me to control my ipod nano at the same time charging it?
tolits on Dec 15, 2014
Best Answer: The pioneer avh-x5700 does allow you to control your iPod while it is charging. My iPhone lets me control my music selection through the phone while my iPod touch is controlled through the on screen menu button while charging your iPod. Wouldn't see why the nano would be any different as long as the head unit recognizes the device. Hope this helps!

Steering wheel control needed for 2013 VW CC? Thanks
A shopper on Jul 28, 2015
Best Answer: Hello ,

We assume you are asking us what module is needed to retain steering wheel controls in that vehicle. (It reads as if you are asking us and/or other customers if we need one.) . If so, you may be looking for the Axxess ASWC-1 . Use the link below to establish compatibility with your specific trim level.

I have an 08 Mustang GT with the Stock 500 shaker radio in it Will this fit my application if not what do you recommend. And is it a pretty straight forward instillation. Also is there one that does not have the DVD in it I really like all the other features also I would like to have the Nav in it also let me know?
Dennis O on Nov 17, 2015
Best Answer: Hello,

For the accessories needed, Simply add the headunit to your cart, enter your vehicle information when prompted, and allow the accessories to be added along with the headunit. Said accessories is what is needed to properly install the headunit. The installation would be considered "straight forward", but it would be irresponsible of us to suggest doing it yourself, without knowing your abilities for such an install. We suggest doing homework on the topic and/or seeking a hands-on professional.

Unfortunately, there isn't a 'dvd-less' model of this headunit.

Navigation on this unit requires the AVIC-U260 module, sold separately.

I have a 2009 fr ranger. Can I use my existing sirius antenna or do I have to buy the new one?
A shopper on Nov 7, 2014
Best Answer: Hello,

Unfortunately, your vehicle does not have a compatible wiring harness that Retains OEM Satellite, assuming that is what you are referring to.

If, instead, you are referring to an Aftermarket "antenna", then it will need to be a kit that uses 3.5mm as a way to pass a signal.

If all else fails, then your only option is to pick up the SXV200V1 .
