What is the diameter of the 0 gauge wire? I need to drill through a firewall and am not sure what size bit I will need...Thanks for any answers you may have!

Best Answer: Hello,

There is no actual "Right" answer to your question. This is because different manufacture's often use different OVERALL gauge sizing. "Cheap" manufactures will call the entire diameter of the physical wire "0 gauge", and 5/16 bit will do, but "Better" manufactures will only measure the Actual WIRE as "0 gauge" making the jacket far larger than the 5/16. Our installers often start with a 5/16 bit, and work up from there. This, of course, is using the theory that 0 (1/0) AWG is ~0.3249in.
