Amplifier Series
This designates the series of the amplifier. Many amps are available in a litany of different wattage and channel configurations, but maintain consistent features throughout the product line.
Reaper (Power Acoustik)
Amplifier Class

An amplifier increases the power of the signal being fed to it by taking energy from its power supply and matching the signal but increasing its amplitude. Amplifiers use many different methods for converting these electrical signals and have been categorized into classes.

Class A/B: Greater than 50% of the input signal is amplified while the other percentage is “off”. These amplifiers have a small amount of current flowing through the output transistors all the time which almost eliminates crossover distortion. Class A/B has great sound quality but is not as efficient as class D. These amps are most commonly used to drive speakers.

Class D: Also known as switching amplifiers, class D amps have output transistors that are completely turned “on” or “off”. This means that when the transistors are on, there is almost no voltage across them but when they are off there is significant voltage but no current flowing through it which makes these amplifiers very efficient at the cost of sound quality. These amps are most commonly used to drive subwoofers.

Other Classes: You may see classes such as GH, bD, X, FD, etc. by some manufactures. These amplifiers tend to be either class A/B, D or a hybrid of the two but with improvements to their designs that can make them more efficient or offer better sound quality.

Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. The most common setup is a monoblock amp to run subwoofers and a 4-channel amp to run door speakers. Check out our Knowledge Base for more information.

The total peak power output is measured as the wattage per channel multiplied by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

It is measured during a brief musical burst, such as a sudden drum accent. Some manufacturers display peak power ratings on the face of their products to increase the appeal.

The RMS power rating is more accurate, and we recommend using it for product comparison.

Speaker Level Inputs
Speaker level inputs are commonly referred to as high-level inputs and vice versa. This input type allows you to get your audio signal directly from the speaker wire in your vehicle, instead of using RCA cables. The advantage of this is factory integration, as most stock radios do not have RCA outputs to run amplifiers.

Preamp Outputs
Many amplifiers are equipped with RCA preamp outputs which pass the original music signal from the source to additional amplifiers. This is known as daisy chaining because the source connects to the first amp, and the first amp connects to the second amp, etc. The advantage to daisy chaining is you only need one 2-channel RCA cable to transfer the signal from the head-unit to the amplifier, and then one additional cable for each amp being daisy chained.

Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

Title state's it all! This amp is not even close to a 1000 watt amp, fails @ 1 ohm and is a complete waist of money. LINKED 2 of these amps together as per the instructions provided with the product and wasn't even able to hurt one 12 inch p3. *rated at 600 watts rms* After 20-30 minutes running the amps got pretty hot and the master amp showed the clipping light lit up. *note i am not sure if that is normal under linked amp operation as this is the first power acoustik amp i have ever linked* Switched the PowerAcoustik amps out with my POLK PA D1000.1 amp, and almost blew the p3 @ 2ohms. The voice coil got hot enough to smell after about 5 minutes. Next got a kicker ZX series 750 watt amp for testing. Plenty of power there as well p3 was getting worked hard and was bottoming out. I definitely do not have a power/ground issue, or a voltage issue *13.3-13.8 volts at amp constantly true 0 gauge ofc wire (with 4 gauge adapter) while idle at normal rpm. Test done with a fluke meter that was calibrated about 2-3 weeks ago* Literature provided shows power ratings provided are at 14.4 volts and are non CEA compliant. I wouldn't recommend this product to an enemy let alone any one I consider a friend. Don't waist your money, there are amps in the 125-175 dollar range that will do a lot better than this over priced paper weight. NOTE : I tested both of the power acoustik amps in 3 different vehicles with 4 gauge OFC, 2 gauge CCA, and a true 0 gauge OFC setup and had the same results. BUYER BEWARE you have been WARNED!!

Beware of negative reviews on products. DIY installs are almost never done correctly. The other reviewer who linked amps most certainly did not have enough power flow to get anywhere near the RMS capability of the amp. How do I know this? No mention of a 2nd alternator or at least a seriously upgraded alternator was made. I have personally dyno tested this amp on a 250 amp power source with sufficient voltage and was able to get almost 1500 watts RMS. Voltage means little to nothing when it comes to big amps. Amperage is far more important. One sign of an amplifier being capable of this is the fact that there are no fuses in the amp. Reason being the small connective surface of fuses restrict amperage flow too much. Will this amp give you 4000 watts? No. Any amp showing a MAX rating must not be taken seriously. If you want the truth look at the fuses. No fuses is a very good sign of serious power - 1500w RMS or more. Amps overheating are almost never caused by running them correctly. It is usually caused by incorrect settings or use. Does anyone seriously think they don't test these to handle 1-ohm operation?

I purchased this amp and have it running on a mofo 122x at 1ohm and i have no problems at all,only thing i might need to do is maybe use 4 or 8 gauge wire for my sub as opposed to the 14 gauge im using now.The performance of this amp is great i have run this amp while vehicle is on of course and had no issues with it getting hot.It must pull some serious power because at night my headlights be dimming whenever the bass drops real low.I have the r4-1000 running to 2 infinity kappa 5x7 and plan to get 6x9 kappas for the rear channel.the 2 amps together are very great for the price and is actually better than expected.As stated in other review you look for the fuses to determine if you will get the power you need ,this amp has no fuses so it has to run pretty close to the 2000 rms it states which is good enough for me.Now if you planning on competing in a bass off somewhere then of course you need to go with higher end amps but if you want great sound without spending alot of money then this amp can meet thoes needs.If someone complains that they blew amp up or that it ran so hot their ride caught fire then im willing to bet they did not install amp properly and they probably used it on the wrong kind of setup.Is this a 4000 watt amp?No but i can assure you will be satisfied if you use this amp correctly .

Best Answer: Hello,

We assume you are referring to the Power Acoustik MOFO-122X , which ONE is asking for 1500w RMS. This means two will require up to 3,000w RMS.

Notice, none of the power ratings on the amplifier come close to this figures, so figures wise it is not a good match.

Still, you can run the setup, but you won't get extraordinary output. You must wire the subs to a 2ohm final load, in series/parallel, getting the suggested rating @ 2 ohms of 1,500 watts x 1 chan.

The "matching" amp will be the Power Acoustik GT1-6000D .
