Soundstream VR-346B - hits on all points
I purchased this radio for my 2005 Subaru Forester LL Bean. The main reason to replace my existing radio was I wanted bluetooth for hands free calling while driving. I also wanted an integrated microphone. These features work great and the sound quality on calls is excellent.
Overall the radio sounds good, bluetooth pairing was easy, CD and DVD playback are good. Despite the small screen size, you could actually watch a DVD but I do not see me ever using that feature.
The only negative would be that the first unit was defective but SonicElectronix was quick to say it was defective and I had a speedy RMA process. I would rather not have had to pay for return shipping and would have probably preferred that they express shipped my replacement but I know profit margins are slim on electronics.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

This unit is a must. Plays cds DVDs usbs and has a a/v auxilary for under 150. Can't get a better deal than that. Soundstream all the way.

Sonic Electronix shipped it quickly, and the free install hardware included everything I needed to install it in my Ford F-250 Superduty. At this price point, it is a solid unit packed with features. The Bluetooth and DVD functionality are solid, and when combined with my 4 new NVX NSP-68 speakers, the system is very loud and clear. Overall, as long as you have realistic expectations when spending a $110 on a head unit, you'll be pleased with the Soundstream VR-346B. At this price, with free install gear, it's hard to beat.

I bought this radio as a replacement to my stock radio in my 2010 GMC Sierra. I wanted bluetooth pairing for audio playback and this seemed to hit my need for a basic, good looking double DIN radio that looked about as stock as possible. Installation was fairly easy, but I never could find an interface that would link to my steering wheel controls, even with buying the one that Sonic recommended. I like the fact that this unit has lots of buttons, as I never could adapt to a touch screen while driving, but the twist knob to scroll/push to select is a little too sensitive. Many times, the selection will change as you are pressing in on the dial. Menu navigation can be cumbersome without using the remote.
On the other side, it does sound great and pair fast with my phone. It has a lot of good features for the price, but I think I would have paid almost double for a little better quality version of this same radio.

Very pleased with the head unit. Very good for price
Cool Looking, Sounds good
Brings my old ride into the now with it's cool design. Sounds great. All functions work as expected. Aux reads not connected even when it is. Thought it was touch screen but it's not. Wish it said the names of songs on radio. Bluetooth function works great.
Great upgrade to factory system
I bought this unit for my son's Hyundai Sonata mainly for the Soundstream name and the Bluetooth: hands-free calling (safety first!), built-in mic, and audio streaming. The price was right, plus I had a few Sonic bucks in store credit so it was a no-brainer. Install was easy with the free wire/mounting kit provided by Sonic. I used a few washers on each screw to move the radio up flush with the opening in the dash trim, otherwise it would have been 1/8" deeper than stock. This radio sounds much better and is more powerful than the stock radio. The Bluetooth works well for playing back music but the microphone could be a little more sensitive for calls. The radio comes with a simple tutorial on how to convert videos to AVI for easy watching. The display is sharp, though my son does not care to watch DVDs on such a small screen. The preset EQ settings made the sound boomy and/or muddy with the factory speakers - we left it in the default user setting because it provided all the highs and mids you could ever want. 18 FM presets, 12 AM presets (!), and the SD card slot responds quickly if you prefer to keep your music or videos there. There are A LOT of buttons on the remote, definitely not intuitive and they are all the same shape/size so you have to look at it to know what you are pressing. The remote works well from all seats of the car, no issues there. Takes a while to figure out how to connect a phone, but once you do it's easy. Haven't used the RCA outputs for audio or video on the back of the unit yet, but we plan to add a subwoofer using the sub out RCAs. This is a great unit for my son's car, but I personally miss the HD radio and advanced EQ/crossover settings of my Alpine unit (which cost almost twice as much). So far it is durable, I will update this review if something doesn't work like it should. Great job, Soundstream!
Just what I needed!
Smallest DVD player in the world! But I didn't want a ddd player so it was a bonus. Everyone loves a good bonus. Bluetooth said my phone's name. Wow, what a feature.
