| Review written by GREG from tecumseh, ON, Canada product was on back order so i had to wait longer than i would have to usually. besides that, i was very happy about the product. great subwoofer, for a low price. half the price than in stores around the area i live. havent had any problems with it at all. |

| Review written by Chase from North Carolina This sub is amazing. I just installed it in my 73 Ford F100 and man this thing is awesome. I've got it matched with a Kenwood 500 rms at 2 ohms. I don't think the kenwood is putting out as much as the sub can handle, but I'm upgrading to an alpine mrp-500 to do the job; also buying another one of these bad boys and putting them in a bigger box. These things are monsters for the price. Lows are great out of these. |
| March 7, 2009 | Excellent Versatillity | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Derek from Allentown, PA This is a great sub thanks to the dual voice coil. You have many more options when it comes to wiring the sub to match 2 or 4 ohms. It handles a lot of watts easily. I have it hooked up to a 600watt RMS 2 channel alpine amp bridged to achieve maximum wattage and it hits well for the size box I chose. I have it in an extremely small sealed box so that it hits hard and sharp. Be careful of the depth and weight of this product, make sure your speaker box is equipped to handle the size. |
| February 5, 2009 | GREAT!!! | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Blake from Lebanon, TN Have this hooked up to a 2000w boss amp and it works great, no problems whatsoever would recommend getting it. |

| October 13, 2008 | small in size, big in sound | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Brad from Saint Louis, MO I have 2 of these in a nice ported box. i got these when they were $200 a piece, so take advantage of the cheap prices on this website. i had them running of a alpine mrpf450 amp (im pretty sure thats what it is), that amp only rms's at 200Wx2 but boy did it thump. im still debating on if i want to add 2 more type rs.. idk if i can handle that much bass lol |
| July 11, 2008 | poundss hard. | ||||||||||||

| Review written by Vadim from Concord, CA I got 2 of those things used with a hifonics 2000 watt amp (1000 watts per) in a sealed and they are loud, people think i have 12s. The subs are also power hungry. |
| July 10, 2008 | amazing | ||||||||||||

| March 7, 2008 | GREAT SUBS | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Jackie from Chesterton, IN I have 2 of these and they slam!!!!! Slim to none distortion at all. As long as you have a big box with air space. Better Yet ported box you will have no regrets!!!! I have had them for about 2 months and still not broken in yet. |

| Review written by Brian from Irvine, CA Just received two of these bad boys and had em installed in a ported slot box. They hit hard and tight, you can feel it in your chest. Break em in a little bit and you can bump it higher. Listening to these makes driving through traffic very tolerable :) Highly recommend! |
| January 24, 2008 | GREAT sub | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Sean from Newman Lake, WA I installed 4 of these subs in an extended cab Mazda in a sealed enclosure with a 1500w RMS boss amp (to be upgraded later). These subs POUND. the amp is slightly under-powering them but, they still hit HARD. The four of them hit 127db in a contest. They'd have greater SPL in a ported box, but the sound quality in a sealed box with these is AWESOME. The provided banana plugs for the dual voice coil makes amp setups easy and they look good when visible! |
| October 19, 2007 | Hit's hard, so hard it can blow | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Michael from greer, SC Giving the right amp and not over pumping these subs are amazing...over power, it can and will separate. I run 1 type r with the sub reversed mounted because i over powered it and it hits about the same. the amp is a kicker 200.2 bridged and dang...recommended for small setup. |
| July 24, 2007 | 10 type R | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Todd from Columbus, OH I'm running one of these in a sealed 1.0 box due to space with Alpine MRD605. The sql is good and the bass is good with the airspace I'm using. Might sound even better in a ported box. Another fine alpine product this speaker has proven itself in the car audio world. |
| March 3, 2007 | Boom...boom, boom | ||||||||||||
| Review written by FRANCK from TUCSON, AZ I have this powered by a Bazooka mono marine amp. Everybody loves the sounds...except maybe my neighbors. Great range, great sound: defenitely a solid buy!!! |
| December 22, 2006 | Great sound, little cash!!!!! | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Zachary from Evansville, IN I recently purchased one of these and put it in a 1.2cft. box. I have an alpine MRD-M301 mono digital amp. Puts 397 Watts RMS, although its just rated at 350. This is a very clean sounding sub, and gets descently loud for a 10. Hits the low notes perfectly with no distortion from cone at all. In fact this sub makes no noise at all, no matter how high i crank it. Very pleased, cant go wrong for 110 bucks. Plus with the trim cover to cover the screws and is a very well finished product. |
| September 15, 2006 | cops suck | ||||||||||||
| Review written by chris from bradford, NH I have 2 of these and 2 12s of the type R's hooked up to 2 1000 watt amps and they pound my car crazy my lisience plate vibrated off when i was driving down the road a cop pulled me over and wrote me a ticket for 300 bucks cause they were too loud!!!!!!! oh yes u might want to invest in a capictor. |
| May 2, 2006 | Amazing | ||||||||||||
| Review written by levi from Purcell, OK My friend has two of these subs hooked up to a MA 2500 watt amp, and they pound like crazy! they shake/vibrate everything within 20 feet. They have great sound quality and are a GREAT buy |

| Review written by Keith from Atlanta, GA When i first listened to these i was very impressed. I have 2 of them in a 1.3 cubic ft sealed enclosure running off a hifonics bxi1606D (1600 watts, way too much but i was sent the wrong amp). They hit super strong and got decently loud. In addition quality was great. However after a month i started noticing a weird rattle. Over the course of 2 weeks the rattle worsened significantly. the spider is separating from the cone. sounds like shit. Alpine has reliability problems. My previous generation type r blew after 6 months. |

| October 24, 2005 | Great! | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Cory from Kalkaska, MI These subs hit hard! My brother has 2 of these in a ported box and is putting 1200 watts max into each and they hit so hard his rear view mirror rattles off. Knowing the fact that my brother isnt pushing these subs to their full potential these subs have some great potential. |
| August 30, 2005 | SOME BAD BOYS | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Chris from Huron, TN These subs simply do one thing: BANG!. They are the best sounding tens I have ever heard. I have two in a .65 cu ft sealed box9the perfect box for these subs) powered by a Hifonics BX1250D amp runnng @ 1 ohm (1200 watts) and I cant even turn it up past 10 on my Pioneer DEH-P6700MP head unit. Alpine has really outdone themselves. |
| August 22, 2005 | good | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Seth from carencro, LA my friend had 3 of these in his accord in a bandpass box. it sounded pretty loud. |
| July 18, 2005 | Why pay more for less | ||||||||||||
| Review written by Steve from Regina, SK, Canada Why would you pay more for less when you can get the type R with more for less? This is the new improved type r and just like the old one the hit hard, only harder. This is easy to see given the extra 200 rms and the new design. This is an all around awesome sub, and for the price, I would say one of the best you could get. |
