This was very easy to install. The gps receiver does not have to go on the roof of your vehicle, it will read through the roof or windshield. Easy menus to work through. Worth the money and as always Sonic Electronix was excellent.

Added this with my Tacoma install. Great interface, 2009 update has everything. Easy to install, good cable lengths (I could have used another foot, but it still worked fine). I've been using the GPS and have yet to be disappointed. Highly recommended, though I think it is a little pricey, but I'm starting to think it was worth it based on the features. I am considering adding the FM traffic antenna.

This is the best navigation add on the market by far...Garmin technology with free updates by going to garmin.com..... by far the best because every other navigation, for updates have to contact the manufacture and that costs money, this one is FREE UPDATES!

I have had the Kenwood DDX-6019 for about a year now and really liked it. My truck was rear ended in November and had to be replaced. I recently began installing it in my new truck and decided to give this Nav unit a try. Previously I had been using Delorme Streets and Trips on my laptop and either plugging it into the video input on my Kenwood or running it on the laptop. The Kenwood unit is much simpler to use in a vehicle. The maps are also more up to date (to be fair I was using Street Atlas 2005). I have only had the unit installed for a week, playing with it while driving around town but I am very pleased so far. I look forward to using it on a long trip. For those of you with a compatible head unit I would definitely consider purchasing this unit. The only feature that is missing is the ability for you to give it voice commands which would be useful when driving alone (some stand alones or computer programs have this). However, I have never used the voice commands before on my laptop so I don't really miss it.

As another reviewer mentioned, you will probably have to find the setting in your dash unit to turn the navigation screen on, I believe mine was in the general setup section.
November 15, 2006I'm buying another one for my other vehicle!

PROS: Made by Garmin for Kenwood with free updates available from Garmin's website (I've DL'd 2 in the 6 months that I've owned this) - highly customizeable; you can create names and icons for your own points-of-interest and mileage logs - SD card used for updates and no CD/DVD required for operation (all factory systems that I have seen require a map CD/DVD in order to work) - 3D map view; I didn't expect to like this, but it's very cool once you start using it - customizeable automatic re-routing and voice prompting is nice - decent retail database onboard; you can pull up a business and view their address and phone number.

CONS: Could have a better retail databse (some businesses do not show up and they're not new) - Better update (my street is just over 1 year old and still not on the latest update; but I know that it will come).

OVERALL: I would recommend this unit, the PRO's far outweigh the CON's and this unit still kicks the tar out of factory onboard GPS. In fact, I am buying a second entire Kenwood DVD system with this nav unit for our other vehicle.
