I've always been a huge fan of Kenwood car speakers, and have tried to use them exclusively in all my car audio projects... until I gave a listen to these Clarion's! OMG! These are the best sounding front door speakers I believe I have ever had in any car, and I've been a car audio nut since back in the 70's (you remember, the days when Kraco and Spark-O-Matic were "top of the line"! LOL!). So yes, being in my mid-50's I've heard many car speakers. Like I mentioned, it used to be Kenwood as often as possible because their speakers always seemed to have a wider frequency response, and often times had greater sensitivity. Apparently Kenwood has gone downhill over the years in their speakers, and Clarion has taken over as the leader (or at least my new favorites!). I'm very familiar with the Clarion name, having owned a few Clarion head units over the years and now currently running a Clarion EQS746 7-band equalizer in my car.
So YES, I'm VERY happy with these speakers!!! When I decided to buy them, I had 4 Kenwood KFC-1664S speakers in my car. They sounded good, and had decent highs. But very little lows. And they tended to distort pretty easy. So I started looking for replacements. I'm not a guy who just looks at price or watts. I look more for frequency response and efficiency. I made a list of about 10 different possible choices of 6.5's before slowly narrowing my choice down to the SRG1623R's. EXCELLENT CHOICE!
And if you think I like these front speakers, wait until you read my review of the rear 6x9 Clarions I installed in my car! OMG times 2!

Nice clear sound, especially with an aftermarket amp, good base for being such small speaker

replaced all 4 stock speakers in my 2005 Jeep Liberty with these units. For the price they are unbeatable. I think they work as good as $90/pair speakers I bought for a previous vehicle. Mids and highs are very clear, and bass is as good as you can get from a 6 1/2" speaker with a factory head unit. I plan to install a factory sub to fix the bass issue. Highly recommend these speakers, note that they do NOT come with adapter rings to mount in a 6 3/4" opening. They mounted ok without the ring, but just barely.

I am in the process of installing them in the doors of my 2007 Honda Accord and am impressed at the sound compared to the stock door speakers. The magnet is about 10 times larger which accounts for the louder volume and noticeably louder bass, being rated at 91 dB Sensitivity.
They are rated at 30 - 30,000 Hz but being so small, 6.5 inch diameter, the bass drops off below 60 Hz and the radio bass has to be boosted to hear the low notes, but they do crank out the bass compared to the stock 6 inch speaker. They are clearly shallow mount speakers that was not stated in the advertisement so they should fit in most car doors.
The stock Accord door speakers are an integral part of the plastic assembly and are not removable from the assembly. Meaning there is no metal speaker in the plastic assembly. It IS the assembly which is designed to quickly pop into the door at the factory.
The Shallow depth of the Clarions accounts for the stiffer cone and slightly less bass with no bass boost. They are able to put out clearer sound where I can hear the instruments instead of the music better than the stock car speakers.
I hooked one up to my house theater quality stereo and in a baffle. They sound compatible to my Marantz home theater speakers if you do not compare them to the resounding bass the 13 inch woofers put out. The 6X9 speakers I installed in the back of the car (old Jensen's) crank out resounding bass on this stock radio. This stock radio has an advertised 50 watts RMS, not peak and believe me it will hurt if you turn it up. This makes it worthwhile to install quality speakers.
The Clarions do not exactly fit the door openings of the Honda Accord but with a little modification to the door speaker opening they will fit. I can either gut the plastic speaker mounts and install them in the plastic assembly if I grind out the plastic to accommodate them, or grind out the metal in the door and mount them directly. Having installed many speakers in my many cars over the years I expected to do some additional work to get them to fit.

I purchased the 6.5inch pair for door speakers in my classic car, where none existed before though the openings & grilles were available. These installed easily. They included the speaker clips and a section of lead wire which made things easier. I purchased these based on the info provided, comparing power handling, frequency response & sensitivity. The best value at the best price point. Combined with a Clarion amp, and rear 5x7s with an aftermarket headunit the system sounds great - very happy.
Great speaker
Ordered these for my truck and they are most perfect.
