Okay for the price
Highs are pretty good and sound like they are in a $200 speaker. Midbass/bass not so much, and on par with a $65 speaker. Cannot handle rated watts. I have them set at around 35w right now, and thats the most they can take without the woofer popping. Tried them on two amps, and the same experience. Can't keep up with my Bostons in the front, but I didn't expect them to. Bostons are rated at 85w and will take 85w before distorting. I just wish the mids were a little stronger on these. I have a 6.5" Tang Band that I molded underneath my console, and it puts these to shame.
Switched to this set after almost immediately blowing the tweeters on some Kicker CS speakers. They also overrate their power handling. Both of my amps put out legit power numbers, and produce more than they're rated for, so if you have a quality amp, make sure to start very low on the gain, and expect them to stay lower. I think 150w would blow the cone out of the housing if it hit once.
If I didn't have a Sonic credit, I would probably get something else, maybe Infinity Kappas. Since I basically didn't have to pay for them, I am okay with the sound.
The basket is big, and I don't think they are actually 6.5 inches because I had to do a bunch of cutting to make them fit, so be aware of that.

If anyone have a question of how good is MbQuart RA640.4, I can honestly say It's excellent. I had JL 300/4 original and JBL Px300.4 and all I can say is, it sound if not the same, better than the JL. It kills the JBL. I replace the JL with JBL because it died after 8 year and I could tell the the sound quality went down, then I replaced the JBL Px300.4 one week ago with Mb Quarts RA640.4 and WAW incredible sound difference, it also took away some engine noise that I was getting with the Jbl. To be totally honest WAW, WAW, WAW and it does not get hot. " I have it under my car seat pushing 4 JL C-5s and could not be happier. I don't write reviews but this was an excemption. I was researching for over a month and I could not get a stright answer, so I hope this can help someone.

I had my installer put these new mb quart pvm116 speakers in the rear doors of my lexus GS300 to fill the rear area a little, and am very happy with their performance so far. I have polk mm series seps in the front doors, an the mb quarts match up well. they are powered by a 4 channel alpine mrv amp at 75w per channel so they are probably getting about 100w ea. Alpine always under rates their amps...
It's important to note that I have a true 10 farad hybrid stiffening cap to power the diamond 1000.1 monoblock amp for two JLw10's and the alpine for the separates, and the sound stays even and there is no overload of my stock alternator. I run a tsunami 40 farad in my z to run the 1600 watts of JLamp power there with the same success'
the new mb quarts arent as rich and full as the diamond 5.25s that they replaced, but I didn t have $350 laying around to get another set of those. Im still breakin the mb's in so ill post later to give you more info. But so far they are doing their job nicely.
I would also like to highly recommend Polk audio's mm series6.5 component to match with the mb's as the front stage. I am amazed by the rich , full sound they are putting out and the power they handle.

Purchase the MB Quart PVM116 to replace the factory speakers in my 07 Avalanche. Reviewed several speakers before deciding on the PVM116. They sound Fantastic! with stock HU no amp. They supply plenty of base, (better than factory). Mids are nice as well. The speakers look Great. I will be replacing my HU and installing an amp so these girls can do what they do best -- open up and blow. I can hear them asking for more power. WOW!! Made pretty solid, Features are very nise. Ease of use was timely. Removing the the door panels was not too hard.Turned out pretty damn good. Stay tuned more to come!!!

Ordered amp, and it arrived two days later, installed that evening after I removed the Alpine MRP-F300 that was running my mids and highs, dont get me wrong, the Alpine was a great amp, just not strong enough for me. Got the MB up and running and WOW is all i can say,the clarity, the subtle details in the music, the warmth, and the power, this amp is rated 80W x 4 and I'm sure it's underrated, very clean and quite, midbass, midrange and highs soar with this amp, very very happy with purchase

Very good value for money. Ive replaced my rear factory speakers (2010 Mazda6) with these. Good quality Pioneer radio can drive them well. Deep bass, excellent tweeters, biggest magnets i've ever seen in tweeters. Play better that JBL power (previous car with good Alpine radio). Strongly recommended. P.S. PVM216s for front are the next step.

I took a chance on these. I didn't expect much out of a $100 set of coaxials.(used for rear fill) Fact is, they sound better than most budget friendly component sets out there. Would definitely recommend.

found this helpful. Not what I expected from a "SQ" amp
I had this amp installed for a couple of weeks powering two sets of MB Quart QSD213's (the last handmade in Germany components sets from MB). I expected the reference amps to be in the same class as the prior equipment before Maxxsonics bought the MB Quart name. I was not impressed. From the plastic mounts and end caps to the cover that was drilled incorrectly, this amp felt as cheap as it is made. Clean power was not an option with this amp. Crossovers were still letting the low end through even after setting it higher than I usually would on other amps. I had Sonic cross-ship me a JBL 4 channel and the sound quality is in a different league than the RA640.4. I thought maybe my components were starting to show the wear and tear of 7 years of playing, but it was just a poorly designed amp that was the issue.
