Alesis DM8
A pretty decent electronic kit for practicing, learning material (can attach iPod), and recording (haven't used that feature yet - plan to). It would have been nice if it used firewire instead of usb for computer connection. Used with DW dbl bass pedals.
Pros: Decent sounds and pretty good overall tracking, nice feel on real drum heads.
Cons: The hi-hat doesn't always track as well as I'd like when playing around with opening and closing while playing. Cymbals feel weird, but sound ok. Can't mute the cymbal by grabbing it after a strike.
Overall - I like the kit. It works well with the volume control. I get to jam along with songs and my son could mess around without driving rest of fam nuts.
