Awesome Midrange!!

The following review is for 30MC, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I ordered these to compliment my older SPX-17REF 6 1/2 Alpine Components and they are AMAZING! They REALLY bring out the guitars in the rock and metal I listen to as well as the vocals in rap and hip-hop I play on occasion and also to demonstrate for customers of mine as I’m a business owner for auto repair and I also do car stereo installation/setup/tuning. I have these running on channels 3 and 4 of an Alpine MRP-F300 4-channel amp with the gains set with a multimeter to run 50W RMS and I have the Rockford Fosgate DSR-1 DSP to handle the crossover points, time correction, volume trims, and a 31-band EQ per channel to compensate for acoustic anomalies of the interior of my truck and also for the peaks and dips in the frequency response of each speaker. I set up the EQ later and these sound amazing with or without that part because they didn’t require much tweaking to give a flat frequency response. I think I had to add a decibel toward the lower range and drop a decibel around 1.2kHz which easily could have been the interior of my truck rather than the speaker itself. I have these crossed over at 500Hz on the low end and 2.4kHz on the top end at -12db/octave with the DSR1 even though Alpine recommends 250Hz to 2.4kHz. I wanted to take some of the lower frequencies out so they weren’t as stressed and weren’t as likely to give any distortion. I HIGHLY recommend these for anyone wanting to fill the gap between their existing component speakers or with new component speakers and wants to add that extra clarity and response for the vocals and instrumentals. The guitars are crystal clear on acoustic, clean electric, and overdriven electric alike plus I can now hear vocals I never even knew existed because they are sung behind the instruments! Amazing midrange speakers, especially for the price. I’ve heard several other 3-way components that are 2-3 times the price like Hertz and Audison and these hold their ground VERY well at a fraction of the cost! I have these installed just above and aft of the factory speaker cutout in holes I cut with a 2 1/2” in the door structure. The ONLY con about these is that they do NOT come with grilles nor does Alpine sell a grille separately for these so you and/or your installer will need to come up with a solution for that which is why I only rated them 3 stars on ease of use. Also, keep in mind that you MUST have a way to put a bandpass crossover on these. Your options for that are getting a DSP, the Soundstream PROX4.1, or running an amp that has a bandpass such as the Alpine R-A90S 6-channel amp. I CANNOT emphasize that enough so I will say it again. YOU MUST HAVE A WAY TO PUT A BANDPASS CROSSOVER ON THESE!!!! Alpine recommends a DSP and I do as well because you can set the crossover points very precisely and also you have independent time correction per channel so having your individual drivers in your component setup spaced out a bit isn’t a problem because you can correct for all of that with the DSP. As long as you have the installation and crossover solutions in mind, you will be fine and you will NOT regret adding these to your setup! I hope my review helps in your decision-making!
