Harley Replacement! VW Bug too!

This unit directly replaced the OE AM-FM antenna as fitted to the Tour-Pak of H-D FLHTC for much less $$, with NO mods. (It will also replace the unit fitted to the LF 1/4 side panel of VW Beetles). Spring mount greatly reduces the effects of those special Harley vibes. Reception clear, no drift. Very satisfied!

Not bad for low speeds!!

Extremely weak spring. At 40MPH the antenna is bouncing all over the side of our motorhome.

Fine

Used it to repair an old IH tractor fender radio. The original was just like this, perfect match, except that the new one used a plastic housing. But it fit like a glove and works fine. Added benefit is that the new one you can easily remove the mast from the spring, which is great in low-clearance situations, you can just remove the entire mast.

Metra 44-US401

I bought this antenna as a replacement for my 1986 Jeep CJ7. It fit perfectly and and closely resembled the original antenna. Quality and workmanship have proven to be above normal. The spring attached to the antenna is not as stiff as the original, so the antenna does move much more making it necessary for me to wrap the portion that can touch the body to prevent marring the new paint.

Low value

Antena spring is too soft, air at 40 mph can move it easy and hit car mirrors or windshield, very low reception. Also this item is not 100% suitable for a Jeep CJ7 as stated.

Good Product for Price

I would recommend the antenna.

The housing is plastic and was concerned when installing it but seems to be sturdy only time will tell, I am using it on a truck I am restoring so it will not get any abuse and will probably last quite awhile.

Would be nicer if the base was a metal

Not Worth $5

I went to install this on my jeep and drilled two holes one 3/8" and one 3/16" I believe, went to install the larger nut where the wire connects and it wouldn't snug down, I barely tightened it and it pulled the threads out of the plastic housing, tried to make it work and ended up using JB weld to secure the larger threads, let it dry overnight and went to install it and got that tight and proceeded to install the smaller nut and so knowing the problem with the first one, I was extra careful with the smaller one, still, it pulled the threads out of the plastic, after drilling a bigger hole to allow room for the JB Weld and applying the JB Weld leaving it over night I installed it the next day and it seams to be holding, only thing now is it rattles where the antenna screws in. I should have sent it back, but I couldn't wait. If I find a better one I will get it and toss this one. Thanks

Good product

This is just what needed. It fit where I needed. The cable was long enough and, most importantly, it worked good.
No problems.
