worth every penny

i have owned powerbass 6x9's and they are great i have listened to a pair of 6.5" and they sound amazing when paired with a good set of subs. alot better than a stock set of speakers.

Best for the price!!!

These are excellent speakers. I ordered them for my '97 jetta to match my powerbass coaxials up front and to even out the midrange from the 10" JL sub that i got for christmas. These get the job done perfectly!!!

I haven't gotten my sub or my Alpine mrp-f300 amp hooked up yet so I've just been running them off my older kenwood headunit with about 40 watts to each side with the bass turned all the way up! And let me tell you the midbass is incredible for a 6.5!!! I pulled up one day to a group of my friends and they all thought i had hooked up the sub already! and the pb in the middle of the woofers is really fun to watch when bass hits.

The tweeters are nice. Since they're pure silk you don't get that tingy sound you get from metal tweeters and the sound is extremely accurate and sometimes ear piercing!

Buy these speakers!!!

Decent comps

For those looking for a basic upgrade, these can likely fit the bill...If you expect great sound quality, these are probley not for you. The tweeters have a tendency to sound hissy and tinny on certain sounds. The midbass lacks "mid" bass, these woofers seemed better suited to reproducing only the higher hz bass types. The crossover points actually sound really good with rock and alternative, i thought these genres did the comps the most justice. For whatever reason, rap and r&b just dont sound as clean as the rock did. I suppose you get what you pay for, and that is the case here; low end components that are an upgrade to stock or low-end coaxials, but not much more. With adequate power, they can play loud, but not necessarily clean. If you can afford to fork out some extra cash, I would suggest looking elsewhere

Love the Looks And the low end extention

Bought these for a 1999 civic But wanted to try something new in my s40. I go for sound quality and these things are clear and loud. I have my subs crossed over at 65 because the woofers go down low to about 55. Crossover looks nice until opened. cap and coil that's lame. I built my own 12db highpass for my phasetech home audio tweeters and low passed these woofers at 2500. They sound great. Ripped woofer trying to clip in mesh grill be care full

Best Bang For Buck.

Great speakers! I have them in the front of my Nissan Altima. Sounds great and packs a punch. Love the sound and bass it kicks. Amped up to my XAX4160 made it even louder! Great Deal.

Move on!

Put these in a Dodge Stratus using stock door locations for the midbass and modified the stock 3" dash location for the tweeters. They have been in there about 8 months and recently the drivers side midbass blew out. When working they lacked the lower mid tones anyways. Tweeters are way too harsh for my taste. Only Powerbass product ive owned i havent liked. Theyre an improvement over stock but you can get better for the price.

Too sizzly, not enough woofer excursion

The tweeters certainly aren't horrible, but the crossover seems to be the root of the problem. They have a lot of sizzle and they are extremely loud when used with the crossover that comes in the box. The woofers sound ok, not much to talk about here.. they give out ok midbass when everything is flat but asking them to give you more than that will result in distortion.

All in all, ok for the price.. you're not getting much here though. If you want a good starter comp, go for the Boston series. Very natural sound (high crossover point for the tweeter I believe contributes to this; BA doesn't tell us where the crossover point is tho).

Wiring is a bit thin but they DO give you some wiring.

Inshort
Low excursion = average midbass
Paper cone = warm sound
Tweeters = need -6dB of attenuation at the minimum.. too much SSSSSizle.

my neighbor has these in his car.run by a asa 400.4 amp i am very impressed they sound very good then i saw them here.for 45 bucks....people these speakers are a steal for this little of money they have silk dome tweeters and yes they only have pressed papper cones but they are treated cones for rigidity.they do however sound very good.this company is on the right track give people good engineered speakers that sound great for not a lot of money.this company will go far in the automotive audio field.nice job powerbass.
