Great Product

I have a 96 Mustang GT with worn out speakers. I wanted something that sounded very clear and powerful. I wanted something that compared to a new cars high end audio system. The speakers did that and more. They are clean and crisp, but aren't too much. The would sound great with subs, but doesn't need them. They have enough bass as it is.

Great for the price, but might not actually "fit".

Purchased these to go into a 1984 Toyota Pick Prerunner. Original factory speakers, aside from being 28 years old, are junk. Quick Fit guide said that these would fit the truck. I started installing car stereos for my brothers and his friends when I was 13, so I've been a Fosgate Fan for the past 20 years (yes, I'm that old). I was excited to find a good deal on a set of 4" Punch 2-way speakers.

When the speakers came in, I pulled one out of the box and compared it to the factory speakers. There was an evident size discrepancy. The Fosgates were quite a big bigger than the factory speakers. Right then I knew this was not going to be an easy swap.

Now, I'm sure many of you don't know what the factory mounting spaced for an '84 Toyota 2wd Pickup look like, but they're directly below the air vents in a long, hallway like space. After a quick test fit, I was assured these speakers DID NOT fit. If you look at the pics, you'll see t hat there are four elongated mounting spots at the top, bottom and each side of the speaker. All of these had to be removed. I then had to dremel quite a bit of plastic out of each side of the "hallway" the speakers mounted in. I don't have a cordless dremel so it made it very interesting. Once all of that was done, I was able to finagle the speakers into up against the area they were to be mounted. The speakers did come with 8 screws and a hex bit to drive them with. These came in handy and I used two on each speaker. One in the factory mounting area and one in a new spot so the coarse threads of the screws would grab the plastic. Ones it was all said and done, the speakers sounded great.

The speakers offer rich mids and amazing highs. If you're getting these to add some "bump and thump" you're doing it wrong. That's what Subs are for. The sound quality is excellent, even from the crappy head unit.

TL/ DR: Even when you're told the speakers will fit, they may not so be prepared to do some creative installing or get someone who knows what they're doing to install them.

Sound quality is amazing and I'm very happy with the speakers. They're a great compliment to any system!

Best 4 inch speakers!

These speakers sounded so clear, with no amp! I'd highly reccomend these speakers. You can never go wrong with rockford fosgate!

Replaced JL Audio 3.5" for Dash.

I got these to replace 3.5" JL Audio that could not handle the power of my amplifier, and sounded to "tinny". These have a much fuller sound for front staging fill.

I had to significantly modify my dash to install them, but I knew this going into it.

System consists of:

Pioneer X940BT > Audio Control EpiCenter > Audio Control EQL > Audio Control 2XS > Audio Control Matrix Plus and Kicker IX1000.1 for subs, and Kicker IX500.4 for mids and highs.

The mids and highs are Rockford T2 6.5" Components for doors and rear deck, sub is a Kicker 12" Solobaric L7.

^ noob

I put a set of these into my friend's truck to replace his blown factory speakers, and they sound great for what they are.

The idiot who said they had no bass is absolutely correct, these speakers have small cone area, small excursion, and don't take a lot of power. That's all perfectly natural, seeing as these are door speakers, not sub woofers. You should probably keep your ignorance to yourself next time.

Hmmm

Very difficult to install correctly, item does not include grilles. Rockford Fosgate does not make grilles for these speakers. Have found some that will work, with extensive modification and custom fabrication. What a big hassle, hope the sound is worth it.....

Could be better.

These speakers have absolutely no bass, the only bass you get is very "Tinny" and has no impact.

Just average

I would say the speakers are good for a old cracked factory speaker replacement but nothing special. The flex fit fitment is way to bulky to be a positive. I had to return one set of these because they were too bulky to even trim and fit. But if you have ample room and just want to replace blow speakers. Not a bad choice at a decent price.

Best 4 in. Speaker so for your buck.

I would recommend this product for any 4 inch replacement. I replaced driver door and front dash speakers in my 745 li. Definitely better than my factory.
