Great product for price.

The product resolved my installation problem. It has worked flawlessly since installation.

04 Avalanche install

First one I got flamed out. Got a second one shipped (had to pay to return the original), but it has worked for the most part. The main thing is that I have to reset it by pulling the main fuse to the stereo (twice in 6 months). Once I do that the stereo works normally again. I have to reset the clock, so that is kind of annoying. All in all, it works if you dont mind resetting it every few months.

Works great

All the wires properly matched up and it made it really easy to install the wiring. You just unplug your factory radio and this wiring harness plugs into that. Great product.

simplest install ever

I am so glad that I bought this harness with my now stereo. The install was simple and only took a few minutes, once I soldered the wires from the stereo to the harness. At first I thought that the price was high, but after using it, it was worth every penny. I highly recommend this product.

easy hookup

This was an easy hookup and everything worked good but may have had a glitch. After about 8 months in the truck the stereo started staying on for about 2 weeks and draining battery. Now it is back to normal.

Upgraded the deck in my 2000 monte carlo ss and wanted to keep the chime function, worked great, no issues at all, easy programming but please take your time or you will be frustrated, this is the second adapter I have put in my vehicles so I learned from my mistakes with the first one which went into a 2006 Monte Carlo

OK While it lasted

This product has a 90 day warranty and, of course it died on about the 100th day after installation. There were times before it's death when the unit would not come on when I turned the pickup on so I would have to turn it off and start it up again. This happened about 2 weeks before it bit the dust. When I took it out to put my original unit back in the plastic plug broke apart. Have to try to find a better quality unit.

Does what it's supposed to...

ok

Easy to install..However the chime comes from this unit instead of through your speakers like the factory. So placement in the dash of this box is important. cause certain spots it may be hard to hear!..just a nice to have item..but not truly needed

Easy to install

Nice product but does have some cons to using it with my Chevy Avalanche. I had to bypass the speaker wires straight to the speakers because it had no sound when wired through this unit but every thing else such as alarms and power accessory system works great

worth the price!

I own a Chevy Monte Carlo and the radio controls the exterior lighting. I read about few harness to connect the radio myself but the one I tried was to complicated and didn't have all the instructions to make it work, I spent over a 100 dollars for something I can't understand!! 2 week after I did order this product it took me about an hour to install my sound Austen in my car and since then I didn't have any problems with my car! I really recommend this product because is really easy to install and keep the original settings of your computer in you car and will not give you any kind of problems in the exterior light's.

POS

I installed this on my 2003 Chevy Silverado and i guess it messed with the computer systems they were all shutting down one by one. 300 bucks later after taking it to pep boys and finally the dealership they found out that was causing the problem.

Not working correctly for me

Bought this along with my Boss 865DBI head unit. Installed in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado without Bose and without OnStar. It was simple enough to install. Can't hardly go wrong following the clear instructions. This unit features the interconnected chime box which is supposed to replace the built-in chime (usually chimes over the speakers in a stock system). My problem is that when I start the truck, the radio shuts off. There seems to be no way around this. I noticed that if it chimes rapidly after starting, it shuts off. If it chimes slowly or not at all, it stays on (no problem). Unfortunately, this chime seems random, sometimes its a fast paced chime other times slow.
Anyway, buy at your own risk. I've seen many others with the same issue around the net, but there are also many who have no problems with it.

Easy Install

This was a very easy install. I have not installed a deck in 10+ years, so either I still got it, or this was very intuitive. I would bet the latter. The only thing that threw me off was the diagram did not include a picture of a 4 pin plug and the insert that came with it. So, if you don't know what the 4 pin plug is for, as I didn't, find the little blue box, in there is the unit for this plug. I actually ended up wriring around this unit and later found the litte blue box, but was too late at this point. In any event it works great.
As others have said, the sound quality for the chimes is not all that good, but who cares about quality of sound chime, I care about quality of sound of my music.

By Bert on March 18, 2011

Good Price

About half the price you'd pay at those 'box" stores.
works great including warning chime and delayed shut-off.
Be careful not to turn the ignition off and back on too quickly or it won't power up the head unit. Also, if you turn the ignition on and back off too quickly it will may fail to turn the head unit off. To reset each condition, just turn the ignition on or off for at least 10 seconds and all is well again.

This Product Does NOT Work

I installed this product in my daughters car after christmas, It worked for approximately 2 months at which point it started acting erratically ie: chimes going off while she was driving, radio turning off and on, then an annoying relay chatter that you couldn't get rid of, then my daughter had to manually turn off the radio or it would play all night. I called Scosche industries and Ryan Bennett Emailed me a copy of how to "reset the interface" It took me an hour and a half of dashboard and console removal just to get at the module I followed Ryan's instructions to a "T" to no avail, It killed a 2 month old battery and I am convinced it killed the original battery. My daughter has not been able to use her New Radio for a couple of months.

I WOULDN'T RECOMEND THIS PEICE OF EXCREMENT TO MY WORST ENEMY

useless garbage

This is the second one of these I've had and I think they are crap. The first one worked fine but it had such a stupid dinging sound (something like a childs toy) that I put tape over the speaker so it wasn't very loud and now this second one worked good for about three days, I have contacted tech support and they tell me I need to reboot it so I did and the same thing about three days and then it stops working, I am going to take this piece of junk out and drive over it. Gm drivers you don't need it it has nothing to do with security all you lose is the chimes, like when you leave you keys in the ignition or you headlights on

What happened to Scosche?

They used to be the top end a decade ago. Now their products are shoddy. Bought an interface for my GMC. Worked fine until it got cold (under 10F). Now it wont turn on unless the inside of the truck is warmed up, shut off and then restarted.

And then on to their dash install kit. WTF? My Kenwood's trim ring mounts to the radio sleeve and their kit wont let you use the sleeve. You have to SCREW it to the sides of the radio. Well now theres a gap around the radio and looks like garbage.

I used to use Scosche dash kits, wire harnesses and GM antenna adapters when I installed audio/video systems in conversion vehicles for nearly 10 yrs. Was always great quality. Get a new truck after 12 yrs and come to find out Scosche is bottom barrel now. :(

Got the job done. Simple install.

Used for install in a '02 Grand AM just yesterday. The install was simple and the chimer is at a good volume level. As for price, I checked for this item at my local sound shop and was priced at $85. FREE shipping delivered the package to me, (along with (2) 12" subs, dash kit, antenna wire) in just 2 days. The other part of my order, 4 awg amp kit was backordered and was still delivered in 6 days. That's damn good for FREE shipping I would say. That's why i only buy Sonic. There's no need to look anywhere else. I reccomend this product and I highly reccomend SonicElectronix.

scosche GM09sr

the installation of my head unit into a 2005 Blazer, this was the perhaps most important link but was the weakest part of the entire operation. Wire colors didn't match the vehicle nor did the pin out. I had to move a few pins to get the basic features like radio on when key in off position door closed AKA acc.

Scoshe offers no support on the weekend. So i was left to surf for the answer needed.. Advice to all make sure you get a pinout of the factory radio prior to starting you project. Save the headache. I am still not sure that I was sold the correct part for this operation. Scosche description stated it worked for my vehicle. When they say that I figure no doctoring necessary

this is an easy harness to install. it not only takes over the chime functions it also gives the after market hu a source for ignition power. the factory unit does not need this input due to the fact that it is multiplexed into the battery feed wire"meaning when the key is turned to the accessory position data is sent along the battery feed wire and the chime box powers up the ignition wire to the hu. the one i got does not like cold weather. it will not power up the hu unless the chime box is warm. not sonics fault will send it back for a replacement.

Scosche GM09SR / GM09SRB Review

The whole wiring harness was very easy to set up and use, and hasn't given me any problems, so that's great.
The door chime thing gave me problems. It was always on and dinging on the night of install, so I just unhooked it and don't use it. No chimes are active now. I just have to be careful to always monitor my dash for any idiot lights, or, uh, low fuel lights, etc.

Works Great, made upgrading my radio a snap

This little device was great. I've replaced many stereos when I was younger in my cars in high school and it was always easy.... Positives, negatives, and some speaker wires. Today's cars are much more complicated. Who would have thought that my Silverado, had part of the alert system running through radio (all the door chimes, some check engine lights, radio's power system, etc.) Argh. I love that I can now also adjust to loudness of my door chimes. That's a plus.

My truck was ordered as a work truck, so it came with AM/FM only. Using this little device allowed me to upgrade the radio and listen to some CDs and my iPod. Thanks Sonic Electronix.com

Definitely Worth It!

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am w/ the Monsoon Audio system & integrated Chime. You need this to keep check engine lights from being on and other system errors.

Have had it for about 2 months now with no problems or errors riding down my dirt road and other bumpy roads.

Makes hooking up to aftermarket Head Units a breeze as I only had to solder 2 wires, amp turn on and another (I can't remember). The rest just uses the HU's RCA's.

Much easier than trying to match and solder wires (that are provided but not needed on this one) like I had to do for friends in the past.

Great product and worth the money!

I was a little leary about absolutely NEEDING to buy this before I did as it obviously tacked on quite a good chunk more of change to my originally estimated total. In fact, before I had completely decided to purchase this I asked a close friend who is a mechanic what he thought about it and if I really needed it. He also had worked in the car audio business for 2 years as a custom car audio installer. His response was that I definitely wanted to get it if I didn't want chimes in the car going off all the time (he primarily worked on GM cars as a mechanic so he definitely knew what he was talking about) for no real reason at all and so I took his word for it and purchased it. I don't regret it at all as I haven't had any problems with warning chimes going off and it does its job just as it should (i.e. chimes when the doors open and the car is running). Easy to install and simply put, worth the extra bit of dough you have to spend!

Not impressed

I installed this interface on a 2005 Tahoe. The chiming function works fine. However, about 10% of the time the remote signal from the device to the aftermarket radio fails to turn off. When I turn off the engine and remove the key, the deck, and consequently the amps, will remain powered (until the battery is dead). When this malfunction occurs, GM09SR will emit a fast clicking noise that sounds like set of mechanical contacts switching erratically.

So other than the inconvenience of getting a jump start every now or then, the product is fine.

Very simple and easy to wire up. Good directions. Shrink wrap and solder is the way to go to do it right.

Poor

I would not recommend this product as it was defective. Kept unit on at all times. Had to switch it out with the Metra one.

Great most of the time

This interface works well most of the time, however during really hot weather the relay will stick on an you must take the truck apart and disconnect power to reset relay.

Works

Bought it for my new double DIN stereo. Works well. Charms work in car. Though if you need to cut RCA connectors off you have little room on those certain wires to strip and connect to harness. Also short wires made area to place relay and blue box hard to place. overall works fine

Bad Unit

After numerous phone calls to Scosche Tech Support the unit was sent back. After connecting all of the wires and connecting to the harness the new radio was not able to get power from the harness. First troubleshooting method by Scosche was to sit in the vehicle for 6 minutes with all of the doors shut and everything off connect the chime and then plug in the harness, still no power. Second method was to pull ad check every fuse in both panels that were 25 or less to see if one was blown because this would cause the radio not to power up???, found zero blown fuses. Third method was to connect the radio to the battery and if powered up then yes the harness was bad. The radio powered up!

Piece of junk and doesn't work!

After installing and programing over and over again, I finally gave up. Now I just make sure to turn the unit off manually. One upside, no annoying seat belt chime! Save your money.

Great adapter harness

Bought this for a 2002 Monte Carlo SS with Bose. Very simple to connect and connects directly to the stock wiring. So if you ever sell your vehicle, you can simply disconnect it and reinstall your stock head unit. The warning chime module feature is a must with almost all newer cars. The chime volume is adjustable. I recommend this.

:/

Buying in package deal justifies a 100$ harness but it keeps glitching after three months. Stopped all my chimes and radio wouldnt turn off easy fix unhook your vehicles battery for a few hours so it resets. Still annoying though. I could have got those problems with the 30$ harness and it barely fits in the back of dash. Installs easy though.
