Great For Pioneer Premier 680

This is great to get if you are looking to install a pioneer premier 680. Sonic gave it to me for cheap when I ordered my premier. Thank you Sonic!!

good product

on 2000 celica with premium audio system it would depend on the hu you buy, you will need to modify the ta03b to lessen the noise by adding resistors to match the impedance of the stock amplifier, wish this has those capabilities so we wouldn't have to modify it. But over all great product.

Very Interesting Product

I'm an electrical engineer, so this review might be overly long and technical. YMMV.

Scosche TA03B is a kit consisting of an electronic module and a vehicle-specific wire harness. The electronic module in the kit is generic: it is sold in other Scosche kits for vehicles other than the one this kit targets.

The purpose of this kit is to provide a good interface between modern car head units and the factory-supplied external audio power amp that comes in post-1999 Toyota vehicles. In my vehicle this power amp is mounted under the glove box.

The electronic module has 4 channels worth of screw terminal inputs and 4 RCA output jacks. The inputs are fed with the 8 speaker wires coming out of modern head units.

The module's four RCA output jacks go to your Toyota's power audio amplifier inputs via the vehicle specific adapter cable that is supplied with the kit.

The electronic module contains four audio isolation transformers and attenuator circuitry that assures that the external power amplifier sees the appropriate audio level.

So why is this module is necessary if your new head unit already has RCA audio output jacks? [My new Sony touchscreen HU has them.] Why not go straight from the HU RCA jacks straight to the vehicle's power amp?

The answer is that in the 1990/200s there was no industry standard on the nominal amplitude needs of power amp inputs. In some instances the power amp wanted more than 1 volt RMS. This kit allows you to obtain that higher audio level, deriving it from the HU's speaker outputs.

A comment specific to this kit: I think it applies to Toyota/Lexus vehicles made after 1999 equipped with Harman electronics. I purchased it for a 1999 Toyota Avalon (Delco-supplied head unit) but the adapter cable in the TA-03B kit has the wrong connector for this vehicle.

The quality of the kit is fine, although Scosche's Asian vendor needs to determine why the electronic module isn't snapping together as its designer intended. The vendor is gunking the housing up with superglue and it looks like crap, but it works.

And I can echo what other reviewers have said about this kit: It needs documentation. Virtually none comes with it.
