Always owned the best, these may be my next.
I own the XBA 1's now for about a year. They have a neck chain style cord. I am sure that you shouldn't ever buy ear phones that don't have this feature. It wasn't listed on the box of the XBA1's but they do have them. Sony is the only one that I know of that makes the neck chain style cord. They stay out of your way and greatly decrease cord noise that comes from the cord touching anything plus the ear seals of these models also seal out such noise better than older models. I know what's the best product because I've worn the best at work since the 80's. it sounds like the XBA-2's dual balanced armature is trying to match the bass of the size 13 speakers while delivering the best sound quality of the XBA-1's. I would sure like to try them.

I've always onwed the best, These may be my next.
I've used Sony in ear phones at work every day for decades because in my opinion there the best. Most of them have a must have feature that is hard to notice in the fine print, on the box of the XBA-1 in the middle of the specs you'll see the words Cord - neck chain. This is a must have feature! Take it from my experience.
The right speaker goes around the back of your neck so they stay out of your way, no matter what and seem much less noticeable. The neck chain cord also greatly reduces cord noise when the cord touches anything, because it doesn't touch as much as other cord types.
The ear pieces have 3 different size & two types. One is the regular & the other is listed as, Earbuds are constructed of pressure-relieving urethane foam. I think after owning them for so long the pressure-relieving urethane foam also reduces cord and background noise.
I've been very happy with the XBA-1's and their balanced armatures, but extra bass boost from a second set is always a nice option with the XBA-2's. I see there is now an XBA-3 which I may also consider.
