More Than Just a Monetary Deal!

I highly recommend this product. I have a breathing machine that I need to use distilled water. Now when I need the water it only takes about an hour to make a gallons worth. I no longer have to carry bottles up three flight of stairs. Plus, this unit is extremely easy to use. It can be left out on the counter without being an eyesore and has a very durable construction. This was a real win-win purchase for me at a great price!

Great alternative

Stop buying bottled water. This product is an excellent and inexpensive alternative for distilling water. It was a present for my mother that doesn't have to carry heavy bottles from the supermarket anymore.

Nicest Distiller I Have Ever Used

In reading the reviews I was a bit concerned, but this unit has performed flawlessly. I was watching the QVC video on youtube and it performed as well or better, since I purchased it on sale is was much less than the retail price, and much less that the sister Waterwise unit at $400+ retail.

Distilled water has strong plastic odor and taste

I let the buyers decide whether to buy this.

The distilled water and the plastic parts in the black boiler container and the clear collection container all have a strong plastic smell. The water has a strong plastic taste. I do not drink the water and instead fill my humidifier with the water.
Right now, I fill the 2 containers full with water and just let them sit for a few days to see if the smell and tastes will go away.

It makes 1 gallon of distilled water in about 4 hours.

I researched on the internet and found many users have the same complaints on smell and taste.

Distlled water has strong smell and taste of plastic

Do not use the mineral cartridge until the distilled water is free of strong odor and chemical taste. Otherwise it masks the bad tastes.

Black plastic parts in the boiler container and the clear collection container leach chemicals into the water. The distilled water has a strong chemical odor and tastes of chemicals. The distilled water and the 2 containers have the same strong odor.

I discarded the first few gallons of distilled water.
I have yet to produce my first gallon of water free of strong odor and chemical tastes.

This distiller produces 1 gallon of distilled water in about 4 hours.

I also have a distiller with the boiler and condensers made of steel. The collecting container is made of cloudy, not clear plastic. It is a Sears' brand. The distilled water has no smell and tastes flat, tasteless. It does not taste of chemicals. I am very pleased with it.
