Refers to the size of the speaker measured in inches. Every vehicle has standard application sizes. Please use our vehicle fitment guide for your vehicle's specific speaker sizes if you do not know them.
The number of individual drivers in a car speaker. Speakers with 2 drivers are known as a 2-way, and 3 drivers are known as a 3-way. Component systems are often referred to as "separates" because the tweeter is not attached to the midwoofer (main speaker driver) and mounts separately in a location such as a door post. Component systems typically come with an external crossover so you can easily adjust the high and low frequencies sent to both the midwoofer and the tweeter. Center channel speakers are great for those looking to have surround sound in their vehicle.
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.
Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
This means that the subwoofer/speaker is designed to be installed in areas that do not have a lot of space. Shallow mount subwoofers are typically found under a seat or behind the seat in some trucks.
Shallow mount speakers will typically have a mounting depth of 2" or less, while shallow mount subwoofers will typically have a mounting depth of 3" or less.
Designs such as cone, dome, semi-dome, balanced dome, and whizzer are most popular. Cone tweeters are simple, efficient and typically are the most reasonably priced. Dome tweeters are used in most home speakers, and provide a smoother and more accurate sound. Semi-dome design is one with a dome placed inside a cone. A Balanced dome driver is a semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the driver. A whizzer tweeter is a separate tweeter cone driven by the voice coil of the woofer.
Many brands group their products into series or lines of products to help customers know the level of quality (good, better, best for example). You can filter by series and the brand using our guided browsing.
5.25” car speakers are a type of car audio speaker that is typically used in vehicles as a replacement for factory-installed speakers. These speakers are designed to fit into the standard 5.25-inch speaker openings that are found in many cars, trucks, and SUVs.
While not the most popular size, 5.25" speakers are still commonly found in many cars. These speakers are characterized by even, accurate tones throughout the midbass spectrum, and will definitely supply a respectable amount of bass for basic systems. As they are not the largest speakers, a 5.25” coaxial or component speaker will be complemented excellently by an added subwoofer. Round woofer cones are prized by audiophiles, and for that reason, many top-tier component systems are only available with 6.5" or 5.25" drivers. Many of these speakers feature flexible mounting holes that allow them to be installed in oval speaker locations, such as 5x7" or 6x8" which cannot accommodate the larger 6.5" round speakers.
5.25" speakers are a popular size of car audio speakers designed to reproduce mid-range and high-frequency sounds. They get their name from the diameter of the speaker cone, which measures 5.25 inches. These speakers are commonly used as component speakers in car audio systems, meaning they consist of separate woofers and tweeters. Due to their compact size, 5.25" speakers are versatile and can fit into various vehicle models, including doors and dashboards. They are an excellent choice for upgrading factory-installed speakers and delivering clearer and more detailed sound compared to stock audio components.
Using 5.25" speakers in your car offers several advantages. Their size allows for easy installation in various locations, making them a popular choice for replacing factory speakers. 5.25" speakers can handle mid-range frequencies exceptionally well, producing clear vocals and instrumental sounds. Additionally, many aftermarket 5.25" speakers come with advanced technologies and materials, such as silk or textile dome tweeters and lightweight yet rigid woofer cones, further enhancing their audio performance. Upgrading to 5.25" speakers can significantly improve the overall sound quality of your car audio system, providing a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience.
Compatibility depends on your vehicle's make and model, as well as the available speaker locations. 5.25" speakers are a versatile size, and they can fit into most cars with the right mounting adapters and brackets. However, some vehicles may have speaker locations that require different sizes, such as 6.5" speakers. Before purchasing 5.25" speakers, it's essential to check your car's specifications and speaker sizes. Many car audio retailers provide fitment guides or compatibility tools to help you find the right speakers for your specific vehicle. If you're uncertain about compatibility or installation, consulting with a car audio professional can ensure you select the right 5.25" speakers that will fit and perform optimally in your car.
5.25" speakers are primarily designed to handle mid-range and high-frequency sounds, and while they can deliver decent bass, their ability to reproduce deep low-end frequencies is limited due to their size. However, many manufacturers have engineered 5.25" speakers with advanced technologies to enhance their bass response. These speakers may feature larger voice coils and optimized woofer designs to improve low-frequency performance. Additionally, integrating a subwoofer into your car audio system can complement the 5.25" speakers and provide the necessary deep bass for a well-rounded audio experience. Overall, 5.25" speakers offer excellent sound quality and are an ideal choice for those seeking balanced audio reproduction across all frequencies in their car.
The installation process for 5.25" speakers varies depending on your car's make and model and the available speaker locations. If your vehicle has standard speaker openings that fit 5.25" speakers, you may be able to handle the installation yourself with basic tools and some knowledge of car audio installations. Many aftermarket 5.25" speakers come with installation instructions and mounting accessories to facilitate the process. However, some cars may require modifications or custom brackets for the speakers to fit correctly. If you're unsure about the installation or lack experience, it's recommended to seek professional installation. Car audio experts have the expertise to ensure a proper and secure fit for your 5.25" speakers, as well as tune your audio system for optimal performance. Professional installation guarantees that your new speakers are installed correctly, allowing you to enjoy the full potential of your upgraded car audio system.
