Sonic Electronix is now carrying the brand new line of Rockford Fosgate Punch P3 Series Car Audio Subwoofers. The P3SD4-8 Punch Series 8" Subwoofer has a peak power rating of 300 watts and a RMS rating of 150 watts. This sub will produce some earth shaking bass and is constructed with an anodized aluminum cone and a vertical attach surround technique. This woofer is also equipped with a 2" Voice coil and a protective PVC textured magnet cover. Add some bumps in your trunk and enhance your cars stereo system with this Rockford Fosgate Punch Series Subwoofer.
While built on a long standing history of performance, the punch series woofers can deliver not only the output to satisfy you when you want it loud but maintain a level of sound quality for when you really want to "listen" to your music. Taking many design cues from the Power Series, Rockford Fosgate engineers continue to improve the Punch Series year after year making it one of the most sought after woofer lines for music and bass enthusiasts alike. With features like Dual tear & fatigue resistant poly-cotton spider for high strength and anodized aluminum voice coil formers to handle heat buildup in the motor structure under full power situations, these drivers are designed to perform.
Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former
By using an anodized aluminum voice coil former on their subwoofers, Rockford Fosgate is able to dissipate heat from the voice coil more efficiently. A hot voice coil can melt the adhesive bonds, which will lead to eventual subwoofer failure. The aluminum voice coil former acts as a heat-sink to dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil cool during high SPL conditions.
Conforms to CEA-2031
Rockford Fosgate has built this subwoofer to conform to the CEA-2031 loudspeaker power handling industry standards. This means that you can trust the subwoofer to have the capacity to safely handle the continuous (RMS) power rating. Having a CEA-2031 power handling is important when matching a subwoofer to an amplifier because the power ratings are accurate.
Stitched Tinsel Leads
To improve the reliability and performance by reducing fatigue and possible shorting, Rockford Fosgate has stitched the tinsel leads to the spider. The multipoint periodic stitching lead wires reduce the mass of the tinsel leads to spread the stress over a greater area. This improves the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.
VAST: Vertical Attach Surround Technique
In order to increase the surface area of the cone without causing any installation issues, Rockford Fosgate designed the Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST). By redesigning the manner in which the surround adheres to the basket, these speakers gain up to 25% more effective radiating cone area. This improves the nominal efficiency and maximum output.

2012 dodge ram 1500 w/alpine system
replaced factory sub with this RF sub in original factory plastic box and not much of a difference but you do hear more punch to it than the factory one. Powered by an alpine MRP-F300 is too much power for the RF sub , it starts to pop. Gain has to be set all the way down. Im going to power the sub with factory amp and use the alpine 4 channel amp to power all 4 door speakers see the results. Great sub though!

I bought this sub to compliment my 6.5" comps up front in a big ole Tundra. I have 75 watts to the front stage and 250@ 2ohms to the sub in a sealed box. It's a perfect match. Nice full clean sound throughout the vehicle. I know 250watts is a bit high for this speaker, but it's in a sealed box and I listen to heavy music mostly, it handles it just fine. It feels great in your hands, solid construct. Very happy!!!!!

I have not had a sub any smaller than a 12" in the past, so I do not have a frame of reference for output of these subs. I have also never owned a Rockford Fosgate product. With all of that being said, I was very pleased right out of the box with the styling and sturdiness of the construction of the product. The dual voice coils provide a lot of flexibility with the wiring. I have two of these subs in a 0.45 sq ft enclosure with polyfil wired at a 4 ohm load and 150W per sub. They are not overpowering but are doing well so far.
