The MTX Audio 35 Series subwoofers are the perfect solution for improving your car sound quality while taking up little space. Their low profile means they do not need a large enclosure and will still deliver powerful bass. How do they do this? With an improved surround compared to traditional Half-Roll surrounds, expanded surface area and reduced distortion due to progressive suspension controls. The MTX Inverted Apex Surround increases the surface area of the sub to allow for more air movement, accurate bass reproduction and higher SPL. Traditional Half-Roll Surrounds have an inherent wrinkling when reproducing bass due to the physics of its motion, which causes distortion. The Inverted Apex Surround moves symmetrically through both positive and negative cycles which eliminates this type of distortion.
Progressive Suspension control the excursion of the subwoofer at high power levels which reduces distortion. Eliminating this 3rd order distortion means you can play your music loud and rely on your subwoofer to take of itself.

Well made
Put 2 of these in a slim box in an 05 Ram 1500 standard cab powered by an Alpine PDX-V9 and they sound great. I almost always look at reviews first but at the time there were none for this specific model, and still aren't. Sonic got them to me fast! Build quality was very nice. Stamped steel baskets and heavy duty connecting posts made wiring a snap.
Something worth noting on this specific model is that the cutout is a little oversized so for a pre-made box you might have to trim a little for fitment.
I have used MTX drivers,mids, and subs many times over the last 20 years and have never been disappointed. This is no exception to that. They do not hit the really low frequencies but I suspect that is more of a box fail than a speaker issue. It is a slim mount after all too.
If I had it to buy again would I buy the same ones? Yes, I would.
