For the money this unit is OK. It does what I bought it for. The radio is not as strong as I had hoped for. It warbles at times. Not the end of the world. The blue tooth is great, the GPS works as advertised. I bought a different camera from a different vendor and can't get it to trigger the display when going into reverse. Not the radio's fault. Should have ordered a compatable unit when I bought the radio.

In-Dash Receiver Specifications
Single DIN: 1 DIN dimensions will work with all single DIN installation kits we have to offer. Single DIN radios are the most common size for after-market stereos.
Single DIN slot with flip-out screen: The DIN stereo includes a retractable, flip-out screen. Before purchasing, make measurements to be sure there is no interference with dash accessories such as A/C vents or shift levers.
Single DIN slot with a larger face: Standard single DIN size, but the display is larger then the standard single DIN size. Due to the nature of the larger face, problems may arise when installing in particular vehicles. These stereos are great for single DIN slots where you want a larger screen.
1.5 DIN: This size is very uncommon in vehicles, however this size opening is most commonly found in Chrysler and Chevrolet vehicles.
Double DIN: Approximately 4-inches in height, this size is becoming more common every year. Prior to 2000, this size was typically only found in Japanese vehicles such as those made by Honda or Toyota. Now, it is becoming more popular for many vehicles to be fit with a Double DIN opening.
Detachable / Removable faceplate security: The most common anti-theft feature. It allows you to take the faceplate with you, thus disallowing operation, which deters theft.
Security Codes: Mainly a feature in high end video units which do not have a detachable face / screen. Once the unit is uninstalled (or stolen), a security code (or PIN) is required upon reinstallation. Though you no longer have your unit after the theft, the thief also does not have your security code, which makes the unit useless. The hope is the thief knows which units have security codes and he/she chooses not to steal your unit because of the security code.
Ghost technology: This is not commonly used, but can be found primarily in a select number of 2004-2005 head units. It creates an illusion that no unit is installed by appearing completely black when turned off. Potential thieves may steer clear because it appears as though no head unit is installed.
Anti-theft covers: Similar to ghost and hiding faces because they only create an illusion that the face/unit is not in place.
ESN: Stands for Electronic Serial Number. Allows the disabling of the radio and allows tracking if it is stolen.
Some manufacturers display peak power ratings on the face of their products to increase the appeal to consumers. The RMS power rating is more accurate, and we recommend using it for product comparison.
Dot-Matrix Text Display: A simple display which uses dots in specific illuminated color(s) to light up and form letters or numbers that are displayed on the receiver.
Graphic or Motion Display: Typically found in mid to high-end receivers and give your text information and receiver more life by adding motion, backgrounds, or multiple colors to your display. There are types of graphic displays such as 3D Graphic, Motion, and OEL (Organic Electroluminescent) displays. They can range from one color to full color displays and typically allow you to select from one of many built-in animations, background images, screensavers or other graphics to enhance your experience and add an extra bit of personality to your system. Some units also come with software that allow you to load your own customizable pictures or animations.
LCD Monitor Display: Can be as small as 2" or as large as 10". Some LCD displays are motorized for angle adjustment. LCD monitors display full motion video playback as well as your standard text such as track status, radio station information and more depending on the receiver's features.
Multi-Color: When more than one color is on the display, for example one part of the text is white, while the other part is blue.
Variable-Color: The display colors can be changed by the user. If the default color of text/display is blue for example, the user can change the settings to where the color turns to red. Variable color displays are typically described in detail in the item's description.
TFT-LCD Display: In-dash receivers with a video screen that display multiple colors and often times video such as DVD, navigation or other video sources.
- RMS Power
- Signal-to-Noise Ratio
This rating applies to both external car amplifiers, as well as the amplifiers inside of in-dash stereos.
Playback Features
Audio / Video Inputs
RCA Composite Inputs
These are your typical red, white, and yellow RCA composite cables that are common among devices with audio and video inputs. The red and white cables are dedicated for audio. The red cable is for the right channel and the white is for the left channel. The yellow cable is specifically for the video signal. Because this type of auxiliary cable contains 2 channels of audio, it will support stereo sound.
3.5mm
This is commonly referred to as a mini-jack or a headphone jack. It is a 3.5mm plug that transfers audio only. There is a right and left audio channel on the plug which allows for stereo sound playback.
3.5mm AV Input
These plugs look similar to the common 3.5mm mini-jack, however they carry a third channel dedicated for video.
Optional
This means that an auxiliary input is possible, but only with the use of an optional accessory. These optional adapters will sometimes use the CD Changer port or other port on the back of a unit that might restrict the use of other expandability features. These accessories are typically sold separately.
Monitor Screen Features
Navigation Features
Puerto Rico
Address: The user is able to enter a specific address and the unit will navigate there.
City: The unit is able to navigate to a city, without a specific address needed. A great feature when traveling across several states or provinces.
Coordinates: This is a convenient feature for when you have specific longitude and latitude values.
Favorites: These are shortcuts that you can set for easy access to commonly traveled locations. Examples could include your home, office, favorite restaurant, movie theater, or any other frequently traveled location.
Home: Program and save your home address for fast and simple navigation to your home.
Intersection: Searches for specific cross-streets rather than a specific address.
Map Browsing: This feature enables the user to point to a location on the navigation screen and choose to navigate there. A great feature for when you visually know where you want to go, but are not sure of the address or intersection.
Phone Number: Search for locations by their phone number. Perfect for when you know the phone number of a restaurant or similar locations, but do not have the address. Also convenient when a store has many locations and you need to go to the one that you have previously called.
Point-of-Interest (POI) Name: Search by name for Points-of-Interst such as restaurants, ATMS, banks, hotels, recreation, hospitals, shopping, and more!
Point-of-Interest (POI) Vicinity: Search for Points-of-Interst that are close by to your current location. Points-Of-Interests include restaurants, ATMS, banks, hotels, recreation, hospitals, shopping, and more!
Points-of-Interest (POI) Type: Search for Points-of-Interst by there category. These include restaurants, ATMS, banks, hotels, recreation, hospitals, shopping, and more!
Quick Search: Allows the user to search for specified POI's that are commonly used.
Recent (Previous) Searches: This feature will load the users recent searches for fast navigation back to them.
Route: This allows the user to select a route that has been previously established.
Point-of-Interest (POI) Name
Quick Search
Expandability Features
Some in-dash head units are built-in with the navigation features, while others require an add on navigation box. Other navigation options include portable navigation units that you can take with you or attach to the dash of your vehicle.
Android
RCA Composite Outputs
These are your typical red, white, and yellow RCA composite cables that are common among devices with audio and video inputs. The red and white cables are dedicated for audio. The red cable is for the right channel and the white is for the left channel. The yellow cable is specifically for the video signal. Because this type of auxiliary cable contains 2 channels of audio, it will support stereo sound.
If "Yes", then the aftermarket stereo is compatible with steering wheel remote controls. If an additional accessory is required for the steering wheel controls to work properly, a compatible piece will be listed.

Theres nothing like having this technology OEM in your vehicle. With that being said this unit is truly incredible for the money. Has everything my pioneer DVD NAV had at a quarter of the price. And the looks and design have improved greatly since these off market companies first came out. It actually works so well I just bought one for my moms Buick. Adjustable installation bracket was great to have to. I bought the metro Double DIN that is supposed to work for my vehicle and it did not work at all, looked in the box and noticed it came with a universal bracket that i used in addition to the aftermarket kit and now this thing fits beautifully after a couple hours of adjusting (not the fault of BOSS though)

This is a great head unir if you are looking for an upgrade! The picture is clear when watching movies. The navigation is different then other models i have used when it comes to searching but takes only moments to become familiar. Set up was simple i didn't even need to use the instructions. This unit is a good bang for your buck.

Microphone for the blue tooth is bad. people on other end can't hear, even if car is not running. It needs a way to increase the gain for the mic. Stereo is very good, GPS is not the best but does work and has current maps.

The radio works great but not really satisfied with the Nav system. It is not as easy to use or as advanced as say the Waze app on my cell phone. When programming an address you have to play around when whether to type ,street or st or place, or pl. Having trouble finding how to update the software. But still good for the price.

The Boss BV9384NV is a great buy. The radio makes the old speakers sound much better. My only complaint is the mounting bracket provided with the radio, only four of the eight mounting screws provided with the mounting kit were used and they are very close and I'm concerned about the security of the radio mounting. However, the radio looks nice in the truck dash.

Radio display is ok but the overall function and features are excellent for what this unit costs. Navigation works great with no more quirks than any other I have used. Navigation display requires adjusting the contrast to see the roads well but after that it is great. Careful which vehicle adapter you use as the info Sonic had posted originally wasn't exactly correct. They were able to come up with a functional solution with a couple of calls and testing a couple of options.

this is a very average unit. the stereo works like a stereo--nothing outstanding or derogatory to say. the navigation unit is very bare-bones; the images on the screen are odd-looking to me and the default view of roads is to not show them--very weird. I had to go through a number of steps to get the display to look even decent. The first time I used it to get from my home to my work--I use interstate and state roads for the most direct route--no cuts through subdivisions--and I was directed to a toll road route which is longer. May need to adjust my preferences more but it was odd t hat this was the default routing. the phone feature works well and it paired up with my iPhone right away. Download of phone book was quick and accurate. Have not used the DVD feature yet--maybe on a date night with the wife.

This unit is what it is. Inexpensive, versatile, and an improvement over a factory unit that doesn't have: GPS, Bluetooth, video input capabilities.
It looks great in the dash. We relied on GPS to get to a wedding reception. Picture quality on the DVD player is good. Back up camera works well. Wife likes Bluetooth streaming and hands free phone operations. Getting ready to place order for steering wheel control.
It is a solid unit. I wonder how long will it be before I buy one for my car?

Unfortunately, Boss products are not compatible with any 'Plug and Play' module, like the SXV300 Tuner. However, you can go with a 'universal' kit and utilize the rear A/V input - it won't be as fluid, but it will get the job done. Alternatively, the "Premium" brands (e.g. Sony, JVC, Clarion, etc..) have units that are compatible with current Sirius tuners.
Finally I must comment about how good the radio is with its great reception and sound at a very reasonable price. Also Boss Tech Support is top notch. Thank you, Boss Audio.

Sonic Electronix has an excellent web site for gathering information on systems that work in each vehicle. I called twice on two different days and left my number for a call back that never came. The web site is so good I ordered. I hope call in service, if needed, is better than call in pre-sales.
