Excellent After Market Tech. For Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)!!!

September 29, 2016

I had the BOYO Vision VTBSD1 (BSM) system professionally installed on my Lexus RX 400h Hybrid. The system works very well. After clearing it with the manufacturer, I had the installer mount the BSM sensors inside the rear bumper cover using RTV Silicone to ensure a secure installation vs. the 3M mounting tape included. I would highly recommend this BSM for any vehicle. One thing to get use to is both indicators light up when a vehicle enters your blind spot on either side when your turn signal is not on. However, this by design. Excellent product, you gotta get one!

I did a lot of research and opted for this because it uses (superior) microwave radar to track vehicles instead of (inferior) ultrasonic radar. This system is enabled at 20mph using the speed pulse wire instead of a GPS receiver, which also makes it much more accurate. I have a metal bumper (1/16" steel) so I'll have to cut holes in it for the sensors. I haven't decided how to fill-in the holes, but will probably go with something like bondo and a layer of chrome paint.

Hello is this product have RCTA function also ? Thanks
A shopper on Mar 2, 2016
Best Answer: I was able to get a spec sheet of this and found no indication of RCTA or any connection to the reversing system. Aftermarket backup cameras and bumper sensors usually wire into the reverse lights. I found nothing like this for the Boyo BSD system, and RCTA is usually mentioned prominently since it is a very desired feature.

The only aftermarket product I've found with RCTA function is the Wistron UMD-RT01, but I haven't been able to find these for sale anywhere yet.

Can this be installed on Land Cruiser LC200 (model year 2014)?? Do you have a installation guide that I can review?? It says no drilling is required, is this installed outside the bumper?? Thanks.
Kal.Masoud on Feb 28, 2016
Best Answer: I was able to get an installation guide from the mfg. It is installed inside the bumper. You remove the bumper, install the sensors on the car, and put the bumper back. It will "see" through the sensors.

Most OEM systems use radar now, and their sensors are located inside the bumper as well. Only ultrasonic systems need to have holes drilled.

The one (and only!) review I've found for this is very concerning. How prone is this to false alerts: alerts when there is NOTHING there as well as alerts caused by stationary objects (e.g. trees, guardrails)?

For the audible alert, will it only sound if there is a detection on the side that is being indicated? Will a detection on the right side cause an audible alert if you signal left?

How this device sense the speed? it is written that it operates from speed more than 20 mph . is it need to be connected to a car computer or it have GPS inside it?
ahmad e on Oct 8, 2016
Best Answer: I had the exact same question prior to making the purchase. The unit comes with a speed sensor wire. However, upon contacting the manufacturer, they advised NOT to connect the speed sensor wire. Therefore, when I had my unit installed, we left the speed sensor wire disconnected. If you think about it, this allows the system to operate at speeds lower than 20 mph. This is a good thing. My unit works fine!

Does this unit set off radar detectors in the same vehicle? If so, what frequency/band does it operate on - i.e. can I tune it out from the radar detector?
