Lots of good clean power in a compact size

I've only got a tiny about of space free, reviews made it sound good, so I thought I would give it a go.

Anybody using this on a motorcycle and how is it on the battery/electrical system?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2015
Best Answer: I installed this amp on my 2011 Victory Cross Country. It has plenty of power. I have not noticed any negative issues with the electrical system. I guess it might depend on how you wire it in.
I upgraded my speakers to 6.5 too but I am still tweaking the sound quality. I wanted to use the bridge capability but I wasn't able to get that to work correctly as I have never installed an amp before.
I have a buddy who has lots of experience with sound systems and am hoping he can figure out what I'm doing wrong. But regardless, I was able to hook it up unbridged and it has plenty of power.

Has anyone actually used the Velcro that comes with the amp to mount the amplifier? It comes with it , but the manual does not really say anything about it. The manual actually does caution against mounting to a "vinyl" surface or similar due to heat.
james T on Jan 4, 2015
Best Answer: I have used the Velcro to mount the amp inside a plastic storage compartment on a Polaris RZR.
I had no problems with the amp overheating and the Velcro held it in place good.

If I bridge the two rear channels to run a single 4-ohm subwoofer, can the two front channels still run a pair of 2.7-ohm component speakers reliably? Thanks!

Polk Audio MM6501
Polk Audio MM6501
Best Answer: Hello Dave,

Generally speaking, we do not suggest attempting to do so. However, IF your amplifier has the ability to run properly with such a setup, then the user manual will imply it. Even with that said, for amplifiers that say they Can [e.g. Rockford Fosgate R600-4D] we typically still do not attempt it out of reassurance that we aren't stressing the amp. Nevertheless, check with your manual and/or the manufacture.

Will this amp cause a loss of AM/FM Reception?
Roger S on Dec 15, 2014
Best Answer: Didn't notice any difference with the reception of the radio after installing this unit. Running a Pioneer head with polk two ways up front, Pioneer 5 ways in back and a self powered 12 inch Rockford Fosgate sub.

to install this Amp in my 02 Harley Davidson Electraglide will I need an installation kit and do you recommend the wiring harness you offer? if so please advise which one and why?
Jerry C on Nov 28, 2014
Best Answer: I replaced an amp that was already on my bike. The harness was already in place. Basically all you need is a stranded 12 gauge wire running to the battery for the hot and the negative. 2 fork connectors to connect them to the battery. Inline fuse block for the positive. Which I'd Mount by the battery for easy fuse replacement .a 16 gauge wire running from the switched power to the cigarette lighter positive for switched power to the amp. And then bring your speaker wires from the radio into the amp
And from the amp into the speakers

I'm looking to power 8 Speakers on a Harley Ultra, I know I will have to use two of them all my speakers are 2 ohm. has anyone used two of theses? If so how did it work?
john G on Oct 21, 2015
Best Answer: Hi John, I purchased this amp to power a set of component speaker (separate miss and tweets) and also a JL Audio 8" sub and it runs all these items with no problems at all. This amp totally rocks!! My local car audio store was amazed when they installed it with my sub. They were totally surprised how it sounded and that it had tons of power. You should have no problems running your smaller speakers. I was told that this amp is actually rated higher than what it is labeled at. You can't go wrong with this amp for your purpose. I also like the small compact size which would be perfect for your install. Hope this helps!

on the descriprion of the MVPA4 it says that the amp has signal sensing automatic turn -on, but it won´t work & it doesn´t explain anything on the manual, any help?
mario on Sep 2, 2015
Best Answer: Make sure you're remote turn on lead is properly connected at the head unit. Power (12V) only when the ignition is in the "ON" position, and check it with a meter. Then check at the amp. Check all fuses and then make sure you're getting 12+v main power from the battery. Double check your ground at the amp. Then start over with adjusting your gain levels as per the manual.

? How many electrical amps does this amp draw ( normal and max ) thank you
A shopper on May 2, 2015
Best Answer: Sorry I'm not sure on that, but from other audio forums they clam a max of 30a from an amp dyno at 4ohms. But I wanted to let you know that this amp has been a very good amp for me. I am using the amp on a Kawasaki 1700 motorcycle running 4 component sets at 2ohms, basically using everything the amp can give me and I don't have any electrical issues. Very impressive for its size. I also don't have any issues with the amp getting hot and I have the amp mounted in the trunk not getting any moving air for long periods of time. Hope this helps.

On initial test and burn in the amp remote light came on then went green. Now on production install the remote end will not get off red indicator for the remote?
Theron S on Sep 14, 2014
Best Answer: This is weird! On mine when I first turn it on the light will go green and as long as it has music signal it stays green if I kill the music signal and it sits idle for a minute or two the light goes red until I turn the signal back on!

I'm running a Pioneer de-80 PRS and want to run in network mode. I'm currently running 4 Polk MM521's in my jeep + a sub and I'm wondering if I can ditch the polk passive crossovers and run two separate NVX MVPA4 4ch amps amping the mid woofer and the tweeters on these 2-ways separately? I really don't have room to easily install the component MM5251. This would allow me to control all crossover points for Mid, Hi, and Sub directly through my head unit. Little help would be appreciated.

Best Answer: Yes it can be done active this way. You'll have to run 3 amps if your going this route. One for highs, another for mids and one for the sub stage. A couple RCA splitters and you're in business. You have many options with this deck, its up to your imagination and problem solving abilities. This HU can actively run 4 networks if you power the front tweeters off the deck. You don't really need the rear tweets. Just move the front ones from the mid and put them up on the dash. It will clean up the sound and you wont have to drive them as hard. Hope this is helpful.

Trying to determine between PX100.2 (using 2 to accomplish 4 channel set up) and the NVX MVPA4 for use on a motorcycle. Any thoughts as to quality, reliability, function, etc. Planning on running Kicker PS5250 and either the 6.5 or 6x9 version as well. Any thoughts or suggestions from you who know and understand this equipment?

Best Answer: The nvx is a good powerful amp. I am running 4 six inch speakers and I get comments that it sounds like I have a subwoofer. I am going to put one in my boat with 4 speakers and a sub. I have never had any problems at all. Easy install. I have installed mine just by attaching it to top of radio.

Building a hot rod and want to use this amp to run an i-pod directly from the amp and not use a car stereo. Limited space would make this a perfect choice if I can use it as a stand alone?
mike w on Jan 16, 2015
Best Answer: I have an iPad installed in my car. I believe this is the perfect amp for your setup. You can use an iStreamer or other DCA to get RAC signal from your iPod and feed it into the amp as well as charging your iPod.

So to be correct, You CAN select the 3-channel & bridge two inputs for a 4 Ohm Sub and use the other two for two 4 Ohm high pass config? Thanks Everyone!
Moody on Jan 24, 2016
Best Answer: Yes, this amp can be configured for 3 channels. It makes 175 in 4 ohms bridged. Make sure in bridged mode you only run (1) 4 ohm driver on this amp.

The description on the web page says to use 8 gauge power wiring. But the amp itself comes with what looks like 12 gauge wiring with the integrated 30 Amp fuse. So, which is the right wiring? If you have to use 8, how do you integrate the fused line it came with?
Mark L on Sep 5, 2015
Best Answer: mine is mounted in a Harley. Total wire run is 3.5 ft for B+ and about the same for B-. If you can imagine a sloppy install with 15 feet of wiring you can possibly see why they say to use such a heavy gauge. In reality the lug on the NVX cannot accept and 8 gauge anything. I tinned the end of the wire with solder and used 10 gauge. I think the fuse holder packaged with it is more 10 than 8. If you're running a setup further away from battery, install the 8 and clip in the fuse holder at the amp. At least there will be no loss in the wiring. Neat the little amp BTW.

How do you wire this in bridge mode for just 2 speakers ? Both speaker hook up and rca cable hook up. Thanks
Bruce D on Jun 19, 2016
Best Answer: to bridge both speakers uses fr+ , fl- for the first speaker and rr+,rl- for the second. If your using one set of rca cables run them to the front rca slots and keep it on 2channel . Have fun with it it's a killer little amp.

Will this amp work to power 2 small 8" subs in my doors?
Heath M on Mar 20, 2016
Best Answer: Hello Heath,

Your question cannot be answered in the manner that it was posed, so we aren't going to submit.

Any amplifier can "power" any set of speakers/subwoofers. If it will do it Properly and Match each other is a completely different question of its own, and is the question you must ask. With that said, "will this amp work..." yes, but we don't know if it matches the "subs in [your] door" because we don't know what subs they are. We suggest getting the model number of the subs (or at least the specs) and matching it with the amplifier. Alternatively, you can call our sales team with that information =]

Has anyone noticed a difference when hooking this amp with the speaker level inputs compared to the line level inputs? I temporarily hooked my amp with the speaker level inputs from my Gold Wing F6B and was very disappointed. The amp is powering a new set of MM series Polk Audio component 5.25" speakers. I traded out the factory radio and just tried running my phone from the headphone jack into the RCA line level inputs and what a difference. I am going to pick up a low to high impedance adapter/converter tomorrow and see how that performs.
james T on Dec 25, 2014
Best Answer: When I first plugged it in, it wasn't loud at all. Turn the little screw on the very right to adjust. In the manual it's explains how to set the output level. Really easy. I guess it isn't set from the factory
