FOR DISPLAY/OFF-ROAD PURPOSES ONLY: For the new 2015 Pioneer AVIC-NEX models, these headunits will not require an interface, switch, etc. to bypass the video-in-motion lock feature. There is a "secret" hidden button in the software that allows you to bypass the lock. Here is how to do it:

  • Step 1: Ground the light green parking brake wire the vehicle wire harness' ground wire.
  • Step 2: Apply power to the unit and push main menu button (located in the center of the control panel)
  • Step 3: Push "AV icon" (located on the touch screen, bottom center-right area of the screen)
  • Step 4 :On the AV icon screen push "Off" button (located on the touchscreen, towards the bottom left area of the screen)
  • Step 5: Press and hold the very bottom left corner of the touch screen for 10 seconds until you hear a beep and a small "set on" icon will appear that confirms the bypass is complete. (if the demo screen pops up, just tap the screen once to make it go away, and continue with this step)
  • Step 6: Sit back and enjoy your new unlocked Pioneer NEX radio.

How does this install ,, there is no screws on the side of the unit and the Harness requires splicing ugh ???
Ron L on Sep 1, 2015
Best Answer: You'll be using the screws provided with the unit to use with the appropriate dash kit compatible with your car. And yes, splicing is required but can be simple with a compatible wire harness kit!

I just recently purchased the AVIC-5100NEX, and the song/artist alert has a visible notification only; there is no "beep" or "tone" that gets my attention to look at the screen. If I'm not staring at the screen, I have no idea that the song/artist alert is ever there. Any ideas?
