Equalizer Specifications

Rack Mountable
Some units can be mounted to a rack for organization and convenience.
Equalizer Bands
The number of graphic or parametric equalizer bands the receiver has. The better the EQ, the more likely you will be able to "tweak" your sounds to your desire.

Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

Built-in Bass Reconstruction
Bass reconstructors, or bass enhancers, improve low frequency reproduction in a car audio system with at least one subwoofer. These bass expander products will help your subs produce accurate bass thumps.
Line Driver
A line driver is a small amplifier used to support the strength of the audio signal coming from the source unit.
Display Color
The display color refers to the color of the text and or graphics on the receiver.

Multi-Color: When more than one color is on the display, for example one part of the text is white, while the other part is blue.

Variable-Color: The display colors can be changed by the user. If the default color of text/display is blue for example, the user can change the settings to where the color turns to red. Variable color displays are typically described in detail in the item's description.

TFT-LCD Display: In-dash receivers with a video screen that display multiple colors and often times video such as DVD, navigation or other video sources.

Button Color
Refers to the color of the physical buttons on the unit.
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
32 - 16,000 Hz
The width of the item from left to right (side-to-side) measured in inches.
The height of the item, measured from top to bottom, in inches.
The front-to-rear depth of the item, in inches. If the item is angled or slanted, this value is the bottom measurement.

Tech Pro EQ-5151

October 28, 2011

My sterio sounded good but with the additiion of Technical Pros's EQ-5151 it sounds even better!!
Higher highs and lower lows + 12 dB boost is increadible.
The unit is durable to because me and my cousin we was drinking beer and my cousin he opened his to close to the unit and I guess the beer was shaken or warm because it shot beer allover the front of the unit and even though it smells like warm beer still it still works. Get one you won't be sorry.

Excellent EQ! Boost's the Lows/Mids/Highs 5x!

June 22, 2010

After doing some thorough research on some EQ's and looking at various price ranges, I'd figure this one would suit me well. I had since then bought a Technical Pro Hybrid 1502U and Technical Pro Fuse-12's for my karaoke setup...and just like those, this EQ solid...structure, the sliders, the blue lights...its very well built.

On to the juicy stuff...the sound. Adding an EQ to a sound system, whether it'd be professional/home/car stereo, will add dramatic difference to your music. An EQ will actually make your speakers sound ALOT better. I set everything flat (on 0) on both channels. I played some karaoke dvd and just enabled the music I can listen for variations when I am adjusting the EQ.

I started right to left (highs on the right, mids in the middle, and lows on the left). The sliders are very solid, and don't feel cheap at all. They move up and down with ease. As I made my way thru the bands, I could hear very dramatic differences from +4 all the way up to +12. My highs on my speakers are crisp now, instead of just a solid thick sound, they are very natural sounding and you can now better distinguish the tweeters from the mids. Without the EQ on, the sound was just wasn't bad, but it wasn't as clear as I wanted it....but with the EQ on, it sounds WAY better.

When adjusting the low end, I was able to FEEL more bass....especially in the low low end...32hz and 63hz range....i set the 32hz on +4 and the 63hz on +6...i've got the 125hz set to +7/ karaoke dvds consist of tight punchy bass, and with those settings, the difference is night and day. The bass comes thru my speakers with more Mmph! factor since I can adjust the low end...its amazing.

Overall, I give this unit a 10/10. Yes, its just an EQ, but the functionality of it and the results will astound you. This is by far the best addition to my sound system!
