Very good 4 inch speakers!
I bought a set of these back in November to go along with a set of Image Dynamics CTX65cs comps. These CTX4 coaxials blend in so well with the 6.5 that I forgot I had them so I never wrote a review until now. To really tell how they sound I had to fade my system to the rear and when I did I found that these sounded almost as good as the larger front speakers (just lacking the mid bass) but 4 inch speakers normally don't produce the 60 to100hz range anyway. So to sum it up, if you have factory 4 inch speakers in the rear and you want to upgrade your rear fill, then get these and you will never buy another set. Yes, they sound that good.

These 4" image dynamics are one of a kind...i have an 88 2 door toyota pick up with 2 10" shallow mount MB quart subs.. 2 6.5" Image dynamics chameleons in fiberglass kickpods in the front- all powered on a 600watt crossfire amp with clarion DRX-9255 head unit...though this system all read packs a punch all i was missing was a little more tweet and mid bass...the 4" image dynamics ctx-4 did the job perfectly..i put them in the factory slots in my dash facing the riders and they sound amazing...they dont need any capacitors or bass removers because these small speakers "slam" iv personaly never heard any 4" speaker louder...not only this but the speaker sounds extremly clear...no distortion what so ever...i would highly recommended the this speaker to anybody who appreciates good sound...the quality of speaker I would compare this to is klipsch...it sounds amazing! I highly suggest buying these 4's or any image dynamics product!

found this helpful.Oh the beauty of audiophile sound at such an amazing price!
I have a 2002 Subaru Forester. While the front panels are 6.5", they decided to be evil and make the rear panels 4". Then they went a step further and placed them so you can't install larger speakers with out dropping some serious cash on a custom install. Never fear, SonicElectonix and Image Dynamics to the rescue!
Pros:
Audio Quality: Simply put these speakers sound beautiful. I was originally going to get the DLS Performance 124s, but after my offer of $50 for the Image's was accepted, my choice was easy. What these speakers lack in bass (as expected from 4 inchers) they more than make up for in mids and highs. The silk dome tweeters are adjustable (although if you have to use the grill like I do, they can't be angled up as far as I would like) and sound amazing. I have Polk Audio db series speakers in the front and frankly, music sounds better in the back.
Construction: The poly-mica woofers feel exceptionally durable and man oh man does that silk make all the difference in the world.
Frequency Response: Really exceptional for 4" speakers. Nothing in the price range can come close to handling what the amp/head unit throws at it. Also the built in bass blockers are
Power Handling: Again, At the price I paid you're looking at 30-35 RMS average load, but with the CTX-4s you get a nice meaty 50. Perfect for my amp (also I was assured by the wonderful tech support agent that 50 was lowballing and they can handle much more).
Price: Rocks. Nuff said.
Cons: They are 4" speakers. But that can't be helped (the car that died on my had Inifinity Kappa 929.1s on the rear deck so hiphop just isn't the same).
The tweeter can't be angled as high as I would like with the speaker grill on. (I'm really searching for cons here)
Silk tweeters are delicate and won't last as long as ones made from other materials. Oh well, that just means I'll get to go through the joy of picking out another amazing product fron sonicelectronix!
Design: The grills look kinda silly. Again, I'm reaching here.
Overall: I would recommend these speakers to ANYONE stuck with 4inchers. My set up (Alpine Head, Alpine Power Pack (soon to be installed DLS or Focall 6.5" front pane)l and Image Dynamics CTX-4's in the back cost me around $400 total in parts, and aside from Subaru's strange connecters for the rear speakers that required my friends help, total install time was less than an hour. In my humble opinion the Images fit right in.
Purchase with confidence.
