There is nothing fancy about this crossover but you do get some quality features for the money like a built in line driver and subsonic filter. I used this to go active in my wife's 2014 Toyota Sienna with Focal 6.5" woofers and Peerless/Vifa tweeters. Using REW RTA software with a mimi dsp mic to look at the frequency response and the speakers cross over at 3600 Hz very well and sound fantastic together. I'm powering these speakers with an NVX mini 4 ch amp and the 4 volt max output from the pioneer HU wasn't enough to keep the gain on the amp low enough below the hiss of the amp so I minimized the gain on the amp to its lowest setting and used the Audio Controls 2XS built in line driver to drive the amp to the desired level/power for the speakers and eliminated the background hiss or noise from the NVX amp. Sound quality went up and I didn't need an monster amplifier with passive crossovers to get the desired results I wanted with my components.
AudioControl 2XS Crossover (Sierra White)
Concert Series Two Way Crossover with 5-year warranty!
For over two decades, AudioControl has been designing and manufacturing award-winning autosound products at our factory located in the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. During this period, countless sound-off winning contestants have chosen AudioControl products to give them the competitive edge. "Can you really win without AudioControl", was part of an article written commenting on competition winning systems. Nothing sounds better than an awesome recording played back on a kickbutt system. Unfortunately, the acoustics of your vehicle can take away from your systems performance. While AudioControl products do not change the laws of physics (although they act like they do), autosound enthusiasts have long known that AudioControl products "make good stereo sound better".
2XS - 2-way electronic crossover
A state-variable, 18dB/octave, 2-way electronic crossover designed with a flexible and accurate module-programmable crossover frequency. AudioControl's exclusive Programmable Frequency Match (PFM) subsonic filter provides exceptional bass control. Winner of the coveted CES "Design and Engineering Excellence Award." This crossover is incredibly adjustable, programmable, and most importantly, the 2XS will make your car audio system sound better. Whether you are a car audio soundoff competitor or just someone who appreciates good sound, the 2XS will provide you with many hours of enjoyment.
Programmable 18dB/Octave 2-way Crossover:
The 2XS utilizes a sharp 18dB/octave state variable filter that accurately separates your high and low frequencies. In addition, by using plug-in resistor modules (for more info see the section on "Making Your Own Crossover Module"), the two way electronic crossover in the 2XS can be configured precisely in any multi-amplified system.
Programmable Frequency Match (PFM) Subsonic Filter:
Subsonics are low frequency non-musical noises which are present in most recordings and usually occur below the frequencies which human ears can detect. This robs amplifier power, causes intermodulation distortion, and may even cause speaker damage. Obviously you don't want your system to reproduce these nasty sounds, therefore, the 2XS features an AudioControl exclusive, a sharp 18dB/octave Programmable Frequency Match (PFM) subsonic filter. This PFM filter rolls off these problem-causing frequencies before they get to your amplifiers. Since it is programmable, you can install a PFM resistor module at the ideal low frequency roll-off point(like the subwoofer enclosure tuning frequency or the -3dB down point of your system), and get the best possible sound from your system.
Every electronic component produces a small amount of noise. This noise is the result of electrons bouncing into each other like pinballs. Unfortunately, these noises add to the "noise floor" of your car audio system and can end up as hissssss through your speakers. Fortunately, the circuitry in the 2XS has been designed to provide signal gain. This "gain" allows you to raise the signal above the hissssssing noise floor and drive your amplifier better. This, my friend, is a good thing.
Selectable Ground Isolation:
Ground loops and ground noises are constant threats to a quality car stereo installation. Head unit manufacturers ground their products one way while amplifier manufacturers may ground theirs differently. Unfortunately, these differences can cause ground loops. The 2XS helps you avoid these problems by providing selectable signal and power grounds. Ground loops are now things of the past.

Check out the AudioControl 2XS Owner's Manual
A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.
When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.
