This Thing Kicks!

When I was in high school, there were few more impressive status symbols one could possess than a Kenwood car stereo. I never had one...I was too busy spending my money on keeping the car alive to concern myself much with how the music sounded...but I wanted one...bad.

It's 25 years later and finally, I have my Kenwood, installed in my 1990 Subaru Legacy LE Wagon. It's exactly what I expected: A great sounding, well designed, complex but at least reasonably easy to use, car stereo that even makes my soon-to-replaced factory speakers sound good (but not quite good enough ;)).

In addition to its many other features, this unit also has an AUX jack, which allowed me to directly connect it to my Audiovox Sirius Plug N' Play, avoiding having to continue using the lousy four frequency FM modulator. Now Sirius comes in crystal-clear and better sounding than ever. For me, the difference is nothing short of stunning.

I'm almost afraid to rate this unit because I believe that until I get new speakers I can't make a really fair judgment on the sound. The stock speakers are decent, listenable even, but there are certainly limitations and these speakers are definitely bumping up against them now and then. If the sound is as good as I think it will be once I get the new speakers in, I might even rate it higher.

Great Buy

I have this in a 2005 dakota, and the display it gives you is unbelieveable. The way Kenwood has made their products presentable is unbeleivable also. Great buy for the money.

This head unit is a great buy

This head unit is worth the money. You can't beat the price that they are selling this item for. The head unit is packed with so many options that I recommend that you read the manual. I had to read the manual to figure out how to work most of the features on the head unit. Has the feature to pick what type of speakers you are running in your ride which is a good idea since not everybody is into the customization of there stereo systems. Overall I am very please with my choice of head unit. I have always been a JVC person but now I am hooked on kenwood. Great bang for your buck.
