The Samson CS Series Mic:
Two Heads Are Indeed Better Than One

Samson’s CS Series (Capsule Select) Microphone boasts the best of two pro-grade dynamic microphones in one awesome package. Interchangeable mic capsules are included for both vocal and instrument miking situations. The CS Series microphone is just what you need to capture amazing performances in any situation.

The Capsules
The CS Series mic features both the CS1 (vocal) and CS2 (instrument) selectable mic elements, as well as a handheld base. Both neodymium capsules offer a supercardiod pickup pattern, but are further designed to support completely different miking applications. The base’s threaded twist-off construction makes it both quick and easy to change capsules and miking techniques. The base also features a gold-plated XLR jack (mic cable not included) for strong connectivity.

Capturing Vocals
The CS1 Vocal Microphone is optimized for live performance applications, perfect for musicians, front-of-house professionals and more. Its rounded grill offers the ideal separation between the capsule and performer for exceptional vocal clarity and minimal handling noise. In addition, the CS1’s pickup pattern provides excellent feedback rejection, avoiding unwanted noise and highlighting only your performance. And with a wide 60Hz–18kHz frequency response and high SPL handling, the CS1 can capture the most dynamic of voices with ease.

Miking Instruments
Specifically tuned for drums, guitar cabinets, brass and other preferred instruments, use the CS2 Instrument Microphone is ideal for miking your favorite instruments. The capsule’s flat high carbon steel grill allows for a wide frequency response on the low end (50Hz–18kHz), which is essential to the sound characteristics of most instruments. It also features a tighter polar pattern for greater isolation from the sound source. This, along with maximum SPL handling, makes the CS2 ideal for close miking aggressive instrument tones such as drums and brass without overload.

Samson’s CS Series Microphone is an innovative design that redefines quality and convenience. Whether you’re miking a vocal performance or your favorite instrument, it provides superior sound and versatility. Just twist, switch and you're ready to rock!

Polar Patterns
The polar pattern of a microphone determines how sensitive it is to receiving sounds as they arrive at different angles.
Transducer Type
The transducer type is the manner in which the audio signal is converted into an electrical signal.
The configuration of the capsule determining on which side the microphone is sung or spoken into.
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
50 - 18000 Hz
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.
Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
-55 dB
Maximum Sound Pressure Level
This is the maximum sound pressure level that the microphone is capable of accepting and transferring into an electrical signal.
150 dB
Output Impedance
This is the amount of impedance that the microphone allows.
250 ohms
Power Requirement
Condenser microphones require an external power source to operate. Typically a +48v DC charge commonly refereed to as Phantom Power.
Connection Type
This is the manner in which the microphone connects to the source unit. For wired microphones, this is the connector that directly connects the microphone to the mixer (or other input source unit). For wireless microphones, this is the connection that connects the microphones receiver to the mixer (or other input source unit).
The overall length of the microphone.
Diameter (inches)
A straight line running from one side of a circle or other rounded geometric figure through the center to the other side, or the length of this line

bought this for use with our worship team at church. It is great that we can switch capsules depending on our needs from week to week. sometimes we use the instrument capsule for micing auxillary percussion; other times we switch to the vocal capsule if we have an extra vocalist. It is a better instrument mic than we've had and just as good as the best vocal mics we have. very tough/sturdy.
