just wow
All i can say about this sub, it hits HARD. If you are debating this sub or another one, this is the one. The right box with 1100 watts just pounds.

If you have an amp that pushes a true RMS of over 800 i would strongly recommend buying a different sub. 800 RMS or less for the money this is a great sub though..... I had this Sub for 1 day on a PPI 1000.1 amp.. it sounded great until i turned it up to negative 12 on my pioneer deck... Toast!! ... Waiting to hear from the warranty department in store credit I'll keep you posted!......

I'm running this sub with a 500W class D mono block amp in a ported box and it sounds great. It hits harder than i expected. For the price i recommend the Type R to anyone that wants good boom for under $200

Awesome speakers! These things pound and are often compared to rockford P3's but these are better in my opinion. Started off with three and added another one so now I have 4 of these. My power drill went through the cone of one of my subs and sonic electronix said there was no warranty against that but other than that these things slam.

The type r has the cleanest bass I've ever heard. I had a kicker cvr before and this blows it away with same amp I had. Went with a sealed box because I don't really listen to rap and perfer sq. I recomend this to anyone who want the best bang for their buck!!

i've only had alpine subs and they have never let me down, i have 2 of these and they go hard even under powered waiting for my new amp that i purchased from sonic electronix, they do handle 1000 watts rms but i wouldn't go any more than that.

Idk where to start! It sounds great and had great thumping to it. Hits hard!
I love it. You must have to buy it to test it yourself.
You'll enjoy it as much as I do. You get what you paid for!
Pros: power handling are strong as describe and has nice clear bass!
Cons: N/A

I purchased this sub to pair with Pioneer GM-D8601 @1ohm and 800w RMS. I ran into issues with the subwoofer's durability and ease of use. After only two weeks of low to moderate volume levels (with matched gains for Pioneer headunit) one of the manufacturer banana plug jumpers popped off. Shortly after fixing this issue with jumpers of my own, the sub would sometimes work and othertimes not. The amplifier was tested and worked fine with the same cabling, so the problem was the subwoofer.
Other gripes include the spring-loaded terminals on the subwoofer providing lower tension than I would imagine for a sub rated up to 1kw RMS. I would have preferred screw-on terminals due to the lackluster spring tension and location on the underside of the subwoofer. If you mount this subwoofer horizontally (typical install) with the "R" right-side up, the wiring hangs beneath the subwoofer, possibly shaking loose.
Overall, the Alpine Type-R is still a good value for the cost and performance, but the factory jumpers and internal components may be defective or come loose after light use. Lesson learned; I will use my own jumpers from now on. Good thing I purchased the additional warranty as the loose jumpers was not the only issue I encountered. Hopefully the replacement is better.
