Video Playback

Blu-ray discs offer video in "Full HD" at a 1080p resolution for exceptionally vivid, lifelike images. They also allow for higher quality surround sound to be encoded on the discs, as well as much more information due to the data storage capacity on a Blu-ray disc being much larger than a standard DVD. A dual layer Blu-ray disc can fit 50GB of data compared to 4.7GB for a regular DVD!

It work like it should so far

September 4, 2014

We have a Sony portable DVD player that's going on 5 years now and the car charging cord got damaged. Instead of replacing the charger and then having the dvd player die on us we picked up this instead. We wanted a DVD player that saves your spot as it prevents the headache of having to find where you were before the car was turned off. The memory function is good for those gas/potty breaks on a long car trip. The battery life isn't as good as the Sony, but it easily lasts one movie and with a car charger it really isn't an issue for what we use it for. Its also cheaper than the Sony. The kids haven't really tried the games much. I did notice that the game controller is very picky about where it is pointed. It must be pointed direct at the IR sensor on the DVD player which might be frustrating to small children who don't understand why. Also note that it comes with a strap to hold it onto a seat. It looks like a good design but we haven't used it as we already have a DVD player holder.

what games can be played on this system?
A shopper on Nov 24, 2014
Best Answer: It comes with a DVD that has a number (12 is a guess) games on it. I could have been more. I can't say I played them for more that 5 minutes. They were things like "Frogger" and the like. Fairly simple, some looked more educational but they were a bit too complex for the just turned 4 year old's. At least too complex to try to explain in just a few words without a lot of practice. Part of the issue I found was that the controller has to be pointed in the right at the DVD player in order for it to work and the 4 year old wasn't quite picking up on that the few minutes we played. It probably would have been right up our 6 yr old's alley but I figured the two of them would fight over it in the car so we didn't use it during our summer vacation. The DVD player itself works great. It saves your spot even if you unplug it or turn if off.
