They’re Finally Here, & They Sound Fantastic!

We’re excited to carry the brand-new V-Series from NVX. Naturally the bar was set high for these speakers as we’ve been thoroughly impressed with the X & N-Series offerings which preceded them, but the V’s blew away even our wildest expectations. With just the power from a standard head unit, these speakers lit up the interior of our demo car with brilliant highs and rich, powerful mids which really brought the music to life. For kicks, we threw in a small 4-channel amplifier to really get the V-Series going, and we we’re impressed to see them transform from a fantastic set of stock-replacement speakers, to a legitimate aftermarket sound-quality contender. The V-Series are available in a complete range of shapes and sizes to fit any application, and their highly-efficient design ensures premium performance with nearly any power source.

General Features:

  • 6" V-Series Coaxial Car Speakers

Priced Per Pair

Speaker Specifications

This is the manufacturer product line of speakers.
V-Series (NVX)
Priced Per
Car Speakers are typically sold in pairs so you will receive 2 speakers for each speaker purchase on speakers marked "Priced Per Pair". If a speaker is marked "Priced Per Each" then the speaker is sold individually and each purchase you make will result in 1 speaker. High-powered tweeters, midrange and full-range pro audio for car speakers are typically sold per each speaker.
Speaker Size
Refers to the size of the speaker measured in inches. Every vehicle has standard application sizes. Please use our vehicle fitment guide for your vehicle's specific speaker sizes if you do not know them.
The number of individual drivers in a car speaker. Speakers with 2 drivers are known as a 2-way, and 3 drivers are known as a 3-way. Component systems are often referred to as "separates" because the tweeter is not attached to the midwoofer (main speaker driver) and mounts separately in a location such as a door post. Component systems typically come with an external crossover so you can easily adjust the high and low frequencies sent to both the midwoofer and the tweeter. Center channel speakers are great for those looking to have surround sound in their vehicle.
Tweeter Design
Designs such as cone, dome, semi-dome, balanced dome, and whizzer are most popular. Cone tweeters are simple, efficient and typically are the most reasonably priced. Dome tweeters are used in most home speakers, and provide a smoother and more accurate sound. Semi-dome design is one with a dome placed inside a cone. A Balanced dome driver is a semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the driver. A whizzer tweeter is a separate tweeter cone driven by the voice coil of the woofer.
Tweeter Size
Refers to the size of the tweeter. Typically, smaller tweeters produces less output with higher frequency response.
Tweeter Composition
Materials such as polypropylene, silk, cloth, and paper are the most common, where as many more recent tweeters are now manufactured with composites such as Aluminum, Titanium, Mylar, and other materials.

PEI is an acronym for "Polyetherimide" which is an amorphous, amber transparent, high-performance thermoplastic.

Woofer Composition
Lightweight woofer cone materials are essential for efficient operation. Poly cones produce exceptional sound and are sturdy against various changes in temperature. Paper cones are very efficient, and when treated for moisture resistance, will perform at a high level. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
Woofer Surround
A speakers surround is part of the suspension system. The surround protects the cone and prevents it from being displaced as it flexes out from the basket. It is usually made of a durable material like treated foam or rubber in order to withstand the strenuous job of producing bass frequencies.
Nitrile Butadiene Rubber NBR
Peak Power Handling
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
100 watts
RMS Power Handling
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
50 watts
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.
Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
89 dB
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
70 - 20000 Hz
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
4 ohms
Top-Mount Depth
The depth when installed on top of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the bottom of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
Cutout Dimensions
Refers to the dimensions of the hole, measured in inches or millimeters, required to contain the speaker.
5-1/8 x 5-1/8
Speaker Grilles
A grating or screen of metal or plastic bars or wires, mounted in front of a speaker as protection. If yes, the speakers will include matching speaker grilles. If no, there are no grilles included.
Optional (Accessory Required and Sold Separately)

Impressed! But Not At First Listen! Loud doesn't equal qualtiy!

April 11, 2014

NVX is a relative new comer. I did a lot of research prior to selecting these speakers. I also purchased the NVX N series 6x9. The rears are 55wt each rms with a frequency range of 70hz. The fronts 6.5 are 50wt each rms with a frequency range of 58hz. An important factor with a 4ohm speaker with a sensitivity level of 89db. I wanted this change because I thought the lower frequency range speakers I had in this Cobalt were a little to base heavy which overwhelmed the front at 48hz. Acoustically for this type vehicle was a little much imo. The speakers kicked pretty hard even at 2db on the low. I attributed this to the car being a compact, and not as heavy as road car like the Impala, or Malibu. This car has HU with a parametric EQ, and an Alpine 445U power pack with 45wt per channel. With this I can deliver 95% power to the fronts, and 90% to the rear. The sensitivity levels on both the front and rear are in equilibrium at 89db, This balances the fade.
The sets that were removed in the rear were 87db with the fronts rated at 92db. At first I thought I wasn't going to like the speakers, and perhaps I had made a mistake with the change, but I was tired the first evening, and the change I thought was pretty dramatic that speakers were to bright, and maybe to quiet to what I had become accustomed to, but not the second. These speakers are not to bright, and aren't as quiet as I first thought. The reverberations in the car were gone, the boomy sounds had dissipated, and what I was left with were very crisps clean sounds without doing to much to the EQ, A little adjustment here, and there, and I could hear the faintest of sounds. Again I would like to point out that this HU has a parametric EQ which allows for adjustments from -2 narrow to +2 wide ranges for the low, mid, and high. I was happy to discover that I could adjust the low to a -1 narrow imo sounds cleaner. It didn't work with the prior speakers, and produce a good clean sound. We don't like our hears to hurt, and to enjoy music in a normal listening range the Loud button on high did the trick, it added the depth I wanted to hear. There is no subwoofer which I prefer. Playing music loud with all the thumping for me can be annoying, and to loud will cause the ear drum to distort if not the speakers Good quality speakers produce the sounds of every instrument cleanly and naturally at low volumes. These do just this. Powering up with just a small in dash amp brings out the full potential of these speakers. Trust me when you take them out of the box you will discover the quality that went in to making these speakers, in this catergory second to none. NVX has a full line of speakers and equipment for the more enthusiast, I am a avid music listener. Good music deserves decent equipment to be able to appreciate it. Hope this review helps. I even went as far as talking to Brian at NVX, and found him to be very nice and more than willing to give me his time with all my questions prior to making the purchase. I hope NVX much success. I personally am very satisfied.

Hamilton, Oh

Needs an amplifer

November 7, 2014

These are nice speakers with good sound quality , but when I installed them in the back doors of my Astro Van to replace the factory originals they seem to lack the punch of the old speakers. Since they are designed to handle 100 watts rms they may not be effecient enough with just the output of the standard GM radio. I may have been better off using a speaker rated at a lower max watt rating.

2 Corrections On My Review

April 18, 2014

First I got the size speaker that was installed wrong, but I doubt that this makes any difference, the 6" will sound just as good. But I got the frequencies crossed. The front on the 6.5" are 70hz. The 6x9's at the N series are 53hz at 55 watts per speaker rms. The opposite would not make sense. I would also like to add that you can play the speakers loud, but at a moderate level these are loud to me. These are easy to power up. With that small amp the Alpine 445U at 45 watts per channel the volume control at 7 is pretty loud. The more I listen the better these sound. I have an HD component, and live near a large city, and the stations are strong, and clear, put in a CD and you get all you want from a set of full range speakers. If this is what you're in the market for you'll be happy with your purchase. I'm glad Sonic is offering NVX, and the reviews that were given by them are very accurate.

I personally like a parametric EQ because it allows for some additional adjustments for overall sound quality imo as the Q Factor that allows you to tweak a little more.. I've recently discovered that Sonic is selling Equalizers for those who have more elaborate systems. Anyone wanting to fine tune those for those sounds we all seem to be searching for this may be the ticket. The prices are very reasonable. If I would go to a subwoofer I would have to get a bigger amp, and an EQ would definitely be something I would want.
