Small Package with Big Performance!

Audio Technica is one of those brands that people here and think "quality". Even the United States government agrees. Have you ever heard of "The House of Representatives and Senate"? They too trust Audio Technica, and have even opted to use their equipment. If you had no budget, what would you go for? Is it safe to say ... the BEST? Makes sense, I think most people would agree. Audio Technica has been making all kinds of products from the best of the best, to regular consumer favorites since the very beginning. Established in 1962, Audio Technica was initially known for state-of-the-art phonograph cartridges, but have since evolved just as the music and the way we listen to it has. Audio Technica's QuietPoint ATH-ANC23BK in-ear Noise Cancelling headphones certainly live up to hype, and the pressure that the family name has established. These compact in-ear headphones feature the Audio Technica QuietPoint ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) signature circuitry, with a miniature microphone built into each earbud earpiece. These microphones pick up all of the outside ambient noises, traffic, voices, horns, etc. and internally creates a wave that is 180 degrees out of phase to erase these unwanted noises. The end result is incredible depth, and detailed separation within the distinct highs, mids, and low frequency producing life-like imagery from an ear bud design. The active noise cancelling powered amplifier requires just one "AAA" battery to provide users with up to 60 hours of listening enjoyment, or can be powered off and operate in passive mode to conserve energy. Also equipped with an in-line volume control, the included airline adapter, and a protective travel pouch, the ATH-ANC23BK might just be a travelers dream. An office employees dream. A parents dream, a students dream, a ... you get the idea. Who doesn't want a little more silence in life? Or, the ability to listen to your own stuff without the interruptions of all the noisy surroundings? Don't be fooled by the small package, because the Audio Technica QuietPoint headphones sure do pack a punch full of features and added bonuses.

Headphone Design

Headphone Type

This is the design of the earpieces on the headphones. Some headphones go inside the ear, while others rest on the outside of the ear. This helps you know exactly what type of headphones you will be receiving.

In-Ear: The ear buds go into the ear. Most often, the right and left ear buds are two separate pieces.

Enclosed-Ear: Usually are found on the larger headphones. They rest on top of the ear and have padding for comfort, as well as enclosing the ear to the speaker. This type of headphone helps to filter out surrounding noise.

On-Ear: This type of headphone involves the speaker sitting gently on the ear without going in the ear or sealing it off.

Headband Type

32 ohms
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.
Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
