Great Video/Audio Playback

December 9, 2016

This dual camera unit works great for audio/vidio. To keep your desired settings (time, date, dual camera, etc.), the unit needs to be powered 24/7 by being plugged into an external power source or it will immediately lose it's settings. Unless I have a defective unit, it should record non-stop until you shut it off. Mine might record for 15 seconds, pause, then start again after 10 seconds or so. Otherwise, the video from front and rear camera is beautiful. If the staff gets back to me about the recording issue and they give me a remedy, I will update here to the positive.

longevity sucks

October 13, 2016

I bought this thing back in march, it's now october... The unit restarts on it's own, turns off and on by itself. Flashlight cycles on and off by itself. It also stops recording and starts recording by itself. If all that weren't bad enough, the colors go funky, IE, screen goes blue or purple tinted, by itself. It also freezes a lot. Reseting it fixes the color and freezing issues, but I'm currently on hold with Sonic Electronics to get warranty work done on this thing and been on hold for 15 minutes when no one is in front of me. Don't buy this unit without an extended warranty, and don't buy from sonic electronics, period.

This product is ideal for my continuous driving of more than 40 hours per week. Also the price is right.

I was looking for both a dash cam and a back up camera and this is the best one I have seen for the price.

Living in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area I purchased this camera system for proof to my insurance company of intentional acts of other drivers "road rage" with the intentions of causing accidents if I were in one. The added benefit of motion detection while parked may qualify for a discount on insurance premiums as well, depending on the carrier.

How is it powered at night for monitoring for vandalism? Does one power cord attach to both cameras to power them? If so, how much distance can you have between cameras?
A shopper on May 30, 2016
Best Answer: Both powered by same input. Camera comes with a power port adapter but I purchased a hardwire kit with an on/off switch and connected to constant power. It has a short life internal battery that can keep it powered at night and the draw is not enough to drain your battery overnight as long as you have the settings set so it doesn't run constantly. The connecting cable is at least 10 feet but I haven't actually installed the rear camera yet so it could be longer.

Are the cameras waterproof?
A shopper on Mar 16, 2016
Best Answer: I would say definitely not. The manufacturer doesn't say that it's even water resistant and there are buttons and ports all around this camera so I would definitely keep it out of the rain

I keep this unit plugged in to the cigarette lighter non-stop. If I unplug it, it loses all its settings. I don't understand why it will record for a short period while I'm driving, stop, even though the unit is still on, then resume recording a bit afterwards. I want full-time recording while I am driving. Any answers to this problem? Or did I get a bad unit?
Ben S on Dec 10, 2016
Best Answer: I found (without having a manual to go by) your power plug must be plugged into the top mini-USB power and not the USB that you hook to the Laptop or Computer for off-loading data. Without having any information with the unit I received guessing doesn't work with me as all my menus are in Chinese not English. I would hope that SONIC could email me a PDF file of the instructions so I can set the language to ENGLISH. So far they have not responded to my requests and I will answer no more questions or give them more than 1 star for service as they acclaim to be SO HIGH!

Does this run on batteries?
Lin in NH on Aug 26, 2016
Best Answer: Thé short answer is "no". It must be plugged into the cigarette lighter to run continueosly, but it does have an internal rechargeable battery to take a few stills or video outside the vehicle or to view them. However, it doesn't run very long. It does plug into a USB port on you computer for power and to view and copy the photos and videos, so I assume that you could use a power pack made for cell phones to power the camera outside the vehicle for a longer time.

How do I supply the electric power to the two cameras. I have not seen any explanation in the user manual? Thank you! Cristian
Cristi on Jul 15, 2016
Best Answer: Mine came with 3 cables. One is the power cable with a cigarette lighter plug. You plug one end into the cigarette lighter socket and the other into the slot on the camera holder as shown on page 2 of the manual (1. Power Input). The front camera gets its power when it is slid into the holder (3. Holder connect with Device Port). The rear camera is powered by the Rear Camera Cable which is plugged into the Cable already attached to the rear camera and the other end is plugged into the USB port on the Camera holder, see also page 3. If your vehicle is like mine where the cigarette lighter socket is powered on only when the vehicle is started, then the camera will turn on automatically and turn off when you start or stop the engine. If the socket is always powered, then you would have to turn the camera off and on with the power button, which also controls the rear camera.

I am interested in the Encore ENDVR-S2 Front and rear camera. I am wondering if I could set one camera in the front to record what's in front of me and the smaller camera to face the driver. I am asking because I have had a stalker who has recently turned things around and is saying that I am tailgating her and also doing inappropriate gestures--so I need to record that I am not tailgating (if I ever see her) and I am not doing anything either. My attorney has suggested this. So will this camera do what I am asking?
Lori K on May 30, 2016
Best Answer: You can put the cameras anywbere you want. Im pretty sure it records sound as well so thatll prolly help ya out as well. Just stick em both on the windshield. Good luck.

Night vision support ?
how many GB micro SD card maximum ?
Playing with Software Bundle support for MAC OS ( MACBOOK AIR ) ?
Connecting Cables for the Rear length how much
A shopper on Jan 5, 2017
Best Answer: No night vision.

It came with a 16G card. The book that comes with it gives very little info on it.

As for the cable length not sure. I have a 15 Camaro and I ran the cable around to hide it from view. After all that I had at least 3 or 4 feet of cable left. Unless you are putting it on a large SUV you should be fine.

The video quality is pretty good. The book say little to nothing about the menu options. It is a try and error with the settings, but not hard to figure out.

hi, wear do you mount the rear camera?
A shopper on May 12, 2016
Best Answer: I mounted the rear camera on the back window, inside the auto. It's small and has a peel-n-stick mount.
