Low thump, no problem
Out of the box the sub is very nicely made with high quality materials. Once installed it sounded just as good as it looked at low volumes. After break in period it still seems a little under powered but the sound quality is up there.
Great sub for adding some bass to your car without overkill. When cranked it gives plenty of thump but not enough to win any awards.

Just hooked this sub up. Installed a new 800w Orion mono amp. Although it does thump, I expected more. The levels on the amp had to be turned way down- as I thought the sub would explode. I have a Jeep Wrangler and I still have room left for groceries. If you have the room for a full sized sub, get that instead. Having a rag-top leaves no security options (Which is why I got this) and I won't be too sad if it gets stolen. P.S.- this 10" sub will not fit into a standard 10" spacer(sub box) because of design.

I originally had 2 10" Polk speakers hooked up at 2ohms and it really sound good. I took these subs out and put them in my car and bought the Pioneer sub. I also installed an Eclipse ice sub amp. This configuration does not even compete with the Polk subs. I have to max out the Elipse amp and increase the sub volume on my head unit. This sub is 2ohms. I would not recommend this sub for someone looking for that punchy bass, but if space is tight this subs does add the extra bass.

Good subs for the price, I thought they would of been louder but you get what you pay for.It may say 1200 max but the RMS is only 300.

I definitely am pleased with the pioneer premier, however, I would highly recommend the model with the built in fan to keep the amp cool. It overheats very quickly, but I would stay with the pioneer premier line.

This is a follow-up review. I own just one of these subs. I'm pushing it with a Hitron HA-1000.1 I also purchased from Sonic. My headunit is a Sony CDX-GT630UI I also purchased from Sonic.
I went back and re-engineered my box to be a Ported @ .61 cu. ft.
The following dimensions work perfect in a Ford Explorer SportTrac when you've removed the rear kick-panel and the plastic divider thingy on the floor that the spring-loaded flaps attach to cover the gap when folding back seats down.

2.75 Top Depth

12.5 Port @ 3" Diameter

OH... MY.... GOD...!!! This little beast can now tickle the inside of my chest, give me a tension headache/neckache, and even make my sense of balance feel a little off after Papa spends just a little time in my "decompression chamber" (as I like to call the inside of my Truck when the volume is at or near 40) blasting select jams that highlight the sub hit.
An example of some tracks that really came alive in the new box:
Blow The Whistle - Too $hort
SummerTime in the L.B.C. - Warren G.
Spank My Booty - Lords of Acid
I'm Toe Up - DJ Felli Fel
It's a darn good thing the new headunit plays off a USB drive because now when playing from CD... if I crank the heck out of the volume... you get to a point where the vibration inside the cabin will start to make the CD skip, even though all units these days have anti-shock buffered memory playback so the units can recover from a jolt such as crossing train tracks or whatever... the sustained, massive shaking just doesn't allow the CD player to ever recover I guess.
Papa's very happy :)

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. They are very challenged for space behind the rear seats. I first tried to drop-in a Kicker CompVT 6.5" subwoofer into the OEM enclosure, but that didn't work, the enclosure too flimsy. Built a new enclosure. Sounded great... but just wasn't enough. I wanted to feel it more in my chest and see my rear-view dance.. y'know?
So I bit-the-bullet and bought this sub. It has excellent information on the product packaging. Gives you detailed dimensions for recommended specs for SEALED, PORTED and BANDPASS enclosures.
I had wanted to go for the PORTED enclosure, but the port diameter they require would have made the width of the base of the box just a hair to wide to fit behind the seats and still have room for excursion.
So I opted for the sealed enclosure design as follows:
3.5" Top Depth
5" Bottom Depth
12" Height
30" Width
w/ 3/4" MDF
I have the rear kick-panel removed, also the spring-loaded flap which bridges the gaps from folded-down backseats to kick-panel, also this plastic divider piece the bottom of rear kick-panel screws into to salvage as much room as possible.
I just put the box in today and hooked it up. Even at less than half-volume I became soo jazzed!!! the Bass Test CD brought the biggest smile to my face as my rear-view mirror started dancin' like MC Hammer on crack!
For my vehicle this sub is a GOD SEND!! To have 2 of these inside a Truck or SUV would be very bad for your hearing in no time flat.
I imagine that after the break-in period, I will no doubt have to start DynaMat'ing the inside of my cab and doors, etc. once I can start really laying into the volume.
It blows me away how much boom these can generate in such a small space!

I bought one of these to put in my single cab ford ranger with a 600w MTX amp. I was amazed with how clean it is and at the same time being loud!! I have had this sub for about a year now and i listen to everyday with it cranked up. The sub still sounds great.

Replaced my Chevy Cobalt's stock sub with this one (modified the box and added an amp), and this sub made my car rock while still looking stock. Great power and good bump for such a shallow sub.
