Are You Serious?! Four Decks?!

Oh, you'd better believe they're serious! The spectacular Numark N4 features four decks of software control & a built-in mixer that can be used with a computer or independently. The N4 unit is designed for professional DJs who need mixers with tremendous capabilities in a light, compact package. The Numark N4 is a comprehensive DJ controller and mixer that has everything you need to truly own the show: large touch-sensitive platters, EQ, gain, loop and effects controls and a built-in USB audio interface. Not to mention both the included DJ software programs: Serato DJ Intro and a 4-deck version of Virtual DJ LE.

Essential Elements:
Quite obviously, the N4 comes equipped with an impressive and intuitive layout of knobs, buttons and faders that not only feel great, but also offer just the right amount of resistance and are built tough to last long. Each deck comes with several standard DJ necessities like controls for looping, sampling and effects, and a pitch fader with key-lock control. Four Video Fade selectors are also included to grant you the capability to mix video through Virtual DJ.**

Timecode Capability:
The N4 has set a new standard for other 4-channel controllers with its timecode capability. As if its four decks of MIDI software control weren't enough, you also have the ability to use turntables or CD players to control your software by utilizing time-coded vinyl or CDs.* Turn the N4 into a four-platter controller by throwing on two more controllers or turntables like the Numark NDX900 or the Numark TTXUSB.

Built-In Mixer:
The N4 is built for seamless control of nearly any source of music. Through its built-in mixer, you can smoothly integrate external sources into your mix including CD players, MP3 players and turntables. You may also quickly switch from controlling 4 decks to 2 decks of software and/or 2 channels of external source(s).

Built-in USB Audio Interface
The N4 is Plug and Play! Simply plug it in to your laptop, install and load the software and you're ready to rock. The N4 also features USB recording of your various digital and analog sources. Regardless of whether you're using four decks, software or combining software and external sources from the N4's mixer section, your entire unique performance can be recorded, saved and posted to your website or your favorite social media outlet. The N4 has balanced XLR outputs as well, giving you the ability to connect to virtually any professional sound system.

Get serious control with the N4 from Numark.

Dj Displeased

I have been on the decks since the mid 80s. This seemed like a good entry into digital dj'ing with many features at a mid range price and 4ch so I can plug my turntables in.

I have not ever been so disappointed with a purchase of this type. I have had nothing but problems.

The sound will turn up by itself, gains and other controls completely unresponsive often only working after several tweaks, sound coming from channels that have the levels turned down omg, a very faint hum/signal noise from one channel and often one deck will just stop working. The dreaded sync button fails to respond, the level indicators get stuck at one level and the sound quality is poor. The overall feel is very cheap and flimsy. The lights don't work depending on which of their recommended software is used.

Overall, if you buy it after reading this, you are mad and it will probably suit you.. If you are not mad, you will be after a few months owning it. Don't do it. Save your money and buy one of the $1000 offerings but DO NOT BUY THIS if you are in the least bit serious about dj'ing. Dj Orion Australia - 42yo, 25yrs djing, 10,000 records, played with the best, CDJs and vinyl etc etc... not a kid with no idea and no basis for the above evaluation.

Note: This review has no bearing on Sonic Electronics who provide a great service.

Numark N4 - Decent midi controller

I've been using my Numark N4 with Virtual DJ for about 6 months. You can read the "features" section on any website to see most PROs...so i won't bore you with them. Here are some shortcomings of this controller...

- The thing i hate about this controller the most is the "Cue point" functionality. You have to hit the SHIFT key to get to your Cue points. I use my cue points pretty extensively and having to push the SHIFT key each time is a pain.

- This controller can handle up to 4 channels. Hitting the deck key to switch between channels is also another headache. Its not something you get used to very easily. Often times i wonder why my song isn't starting even though I'm hitting the play button and then i realize i have the wrong deck selected. I think there could've been an easier way to switch between decks.

- Sometimes when you play songs on more than one channel the volume level on one or more channels can be very low...you have to keep fiddling with the "gain" knob to make the volume levels acceptable.

- Another issue is that the buttons "misfire" if you hit them at an angle. I sometimes use the controller while sitting down on a chair so that the controller is a little below my chest level. Because of this angle when i push buttons on the controller (e.g. PLAY or CUE or LOOP IN and LOOP OUT or RELOOP) it presses the button twice (double click) when i only pushed it once. This sometimes causes my songs to go out of sync because i hit the PLAY button but it pauses it (PLAY button pushed twice), If I use the controller standing up i don't encounter this issue for the most part.

For me the biggest issue is the "cue points" functionality. I gave it a rating of 3 because of this problem. I think there's a way to re-map the controller to work the way i want but its too much trouble to learn how to do remap. Other issues are fairly small and can be ignored or lived with.
