Perfect for 2008 Tundra

July 9, 2013

This adapter works perfectly for matching the aftermarket head unit to the stock Tundra wiring harness. I connected the parking brake wire directly to the ground wire in this harness to allow the DVD player to be played without being stopped. Not that one should watch movies while driving but passengers can. Works great.

Very flexible

July 10, 2013

I order this as a back-up because I was getting conflicting instructions for my 2003 Toyota Matrix. I didn't need it, but, since this is such a flexible design I was able to give it to a friend who was putting a stereo into an old Tercel.

Best Answer: It would be hard to diagnose your issue wihout seeing it for myself as it could be anything. First of all, make sure you use a chassis ground with your head unit wiring harness. Just butt connect or solder some additional #14 or #16 wire (try and keep as short as possible)to the black wire coming off your head unit harness and attach a ring terminal to the end. Then screw the ring terminal to a clean metal surface on the car chassis. Do not connect the ground on the head unit harness with the black wire on the adapter, it will not work. Second, make sure the aftermarket female harness snaps into place with the stock male harness. Third, check your fuse panel for blown fuses and check the 12v ignition wire (red wire) and 12v constant wire (yellow wire) with a multimeter to check for shorts. Lastly, make sure the head unit works properly, try it with an alternative power source.

I purchased a in-dash video/radio for my 2003 Toyota Celica, would this be the wiring harness I would need?
Ryan C on Dec 10, 2014
Best Answer: I'd have to say yes, Toyota has used the same harness in almost all their vehicles for nearly 26 years, though you may need the Lexus antenna adapter.(source: I was trained by Toyota to be a technician & was ASE certified) This harness fit both my 2008 Tacoma and my 2013 Tacoma, keep in mind its better to solder the connections and put shrink wrap over than use butt connectors or caps as they become loose over time and causes problems, and don't use the factory ground use a self tapping screw and attach the ground to the cross beam behind radio or find a better grounding point as Toyota factory grounds aren't always good. as always be careful pay attention to the wires and take things slow if this is your first time installing after market radios
